Hello Guys,
This video is a review of garments made between the months of May through August this year. I enjoy my classic pieces and often have many pieces that work well.
Patterns
Simplicity 8889 - White Linen and Royal Blue linen
Simplicity 8014 White Cotton Dress
Simplicity 1538 - Poplin Shirt Sew along
Simplicity 8285 - Linen Tennis dress
Closet Core - Jenna Shirt
I omitted to include my black Linen Shorts and Sewalong for Simplicity 1539, and blue and white linen dress that still needs zipped fixed.

I'm laughing that you say you didn't sew that much!!!! Wow - you sewed a ton of absolutely beautiful clothes!!! Everything you make is exquisite - beautiful fabrics, beautiful sewing, beautiful results on you! Navy is neutral and used to be more popular than black in my mother's day - she always wore it all year round for shoes and handbags - with a red or camel coat in the winter, blue plaid in the fall, white in the summer, yellow and gray in the spring - it really works with almost any color. I made Vogue 1902 several years ago and now I'm thinking I should make it again. I have a piece of silk purchased decades ago that I have been afraid to sew - join the crowd on that!

Hi Mary... not as much as I wanted😀 You are very kind. I appreciate your time and feedback. I definitely love navy and believe it's such a great staple. Those colors seem perfect for various seasons. Vogue 1902 is a gorgeous top, and yes, a silk fabric would be ideal. Silk intimates my sewing abilities, but I will overcome eventually .😀

I read that if you iron the pleats with a 1:1 ratio of white vinegar and water in your steam iron and let them cool completely before moving them they become permanently set in place. Just a thought. Maybe try on a scrap of the sateen and wash that first?

Thank you for your feedback. Yes, it helps to visualize the entire look sometimes, but I often am inspired by the fabric to determine the final outfit. I love the white dress as well.

Hello Karon, everything you’ve made is as gorgeous as the last garments you’ve made in your previous months. You choose such beautiful looking fabrics. You know quality for sure. I like to sew that way too even tho our fabric prices have really risen along with our notions and patterns. You sew sooo very very nice and perfectly too. Please finish the black/ orange lily print dress for your vacation. It would be stunning esp in that the longer length halter style. I love your style of clothing and you wear / model everything well too. I need to get busy and sew a few things for myself also as I’ve not for quite a while, usually is been an alteration lately and bow ties for my grandson. His school requires a tie or bow tie which is wonderful and khaki pants, no tennies’s, and only certain color shirts. A uniform of sorts. Karon, for the silk fabric, just make sure you use the right size needle. If the fabric is slippery, use a walking foot.

Concerning the silk you are afraid to work on, it looks like it is very thin weight. My suggestion would be to use a size 6 sharp needle. Also if you have a plate for a single needle, I would use that to assure the fabric doesn't get caught down in your needle plate. The needle is most important.

I love your white dress and all your shirt dresses. I have that pattern but too nervous to start it. What fabric was the white shirt dress? Is it a heavy cotton? Also the Makers Atelier sewing patterns has a shirt with all the pleats of your pink dress, and they advised doing a quick basting stitch across all the pleats before putting the dress in the wash. May be worth a try?

Thank you. The fabric is a light cotton sateen and has some twill texture but a light fabric. Give it a try.

Thank you. The white light cotton twill was purchased from Joann a few months ago.
