GM Employee perspective from me. Jason basically got GMS price on the unit and the rest is dealer standard. The only thing different is I am capped what they can charge on doc fees. Employee financing is also different depending on what deal we take. For everyone who posts that. “I could have gotten thousands off more” or “they ripped you off” or “it’s a year old”, etc. that’s true sometimes but not when you started getting below dealer cost on in demand vehicles. The dealer has holdback he gets from the manufacturer and other incentives, but they are not in business to lose money on each sale. If you read this far, I love that color and every option. Well done.

You are right GMS price is limted on what they can charge for dealer fee at 75 dollars. But I think he got better than employee pricing. I do not buy Gm products because of quality. I have 2022 tacoma and a honda pilot and my Dad just got prius limted he worked for Gm he will never buy Gm

When I bought my 2016 Silverado I paid $36,622 for an LTZ that stickered for $52,430. Brand new truck, 12 miles on the odo and no trade in to get screwed over on. My salesman said he couldn't buy that truck for anywhere near what I paid for it. I sold it almost six years later with 62k miles on it for $34,000.

Where I live the demand is so high, there are zero reductions from MSRP. They are not adding to MSRP, but they get full MSRP. Why, because there enough people willing to pay full MSRP that if you are not willing to, you won't be getting one of these trucks. Sure, we could drive to a different market where they do come off of MSRP and buy a truck, but the costs of driving, time, motels, meals, and the next thing you know you did not save too much. Purchasing vehicles is heavily dependent on where you live and what the more localized/regional economy is doing.

ZR2 Bison and paid full MSRP but with no fees like doc prep. Also got 1.9% and trade in value of 34K on my 2019 Colorado ZR2 with 31,000 miles. Talked to about 5 dealerships and it was all the same issue with limited inventory and high demand.

Hey Jason, when I bought my ZR2 rherr months ago I was price shopping both the GMC Canyon AT4 and the Colorado ZR2. There’s a dealership down in Tampa near me that sells every GMC on the lot for 10% off. But I preferred the ZR2 which is a higher trim/price level than the AT4. So I looked around and I found a large Chevy dealer in Jacksonville and called them up. Luckily, I got the sales manager on the phone told him I was gonna buy either the Colorado or the canyon but I had to have 10% off. He instantly said we can do that and I had the ZR2 in my possession in three days. I had basically the same trim level as yours in this video and I got roughly $6000 off. I only paid a dealer fee of $750 plus sales tax. I had my own tag so a cheap transfer fee. I am absolutely thrilled with the deal I got and with my truck.

Value is made at the beginning when you buy it. The used market fluctuations happen daily. So nobody knows what resale value will be in a few years. But since I got 10% off and most trucks depreciation rate is within 3% of each other i feel much safer with this truck than others when it comes to sell time.

I was in the same boat and was looking for a ZR2 Colorado. I was able to find one in another state, and the dealer was expecting it to arrive soon was in transist, and it was a 2023 model in March of 2024. I put a down payment on it and waited a full month with no current delivery date. I decided to keep looking and found a ZR2 Colorado Bison in my own state of Michigan not having to go to Indiana for the 2023. I was able to contact the dealer in Michigan, and the ZR2 Colorado Bison was available. Three hour drive from my house and all turned out well. I love the truck and the color i can not understand why GM discontinued it.

Very smart putting a larger down payment that's part of my system when I buy a vehicle myself my dad was a top salesmen for Pontiac in the 70s & 80s & I myself worked at a dealership for a few years when I was younger so I always try to get reasonably good deals as well ps that is such an awesome truck & your both happy which is important while making a large investment

Great deal! When I found my Rubicon XR (35 inch tire package) I couldn’t get a deal. Only one in the Phx area in Anvil color. I bought it anyway….one year later…I’m VERY happy! Sometimes you just gotta buy what you want!

If I told her that color is too much she would instantly say no worries, get the color that's cheapest. For thst reason alone I would of paid full price if I had to to make sure she got the one she really wanted.

I would say VIN etching is negotiable. Techs did not always do them. I would do those as a porter working at Saturn all the time. Have the cheapest labor doing it is easy profit. Place special paper with VIN on each window, swipe with acids applicator and wait “X”minutes to take off while doing a whole truck load of cars that came in.

Thanks for sharing your story. I bought my wife a black ZR2 with the exact same features. Her desire for the sunroof was the problem for me negotiatiing a great deal instead of a just a good deal. Luckily the dealership had just listed a $4500 discount on an identical white ZR2 and I got another $1k off of that. I see they now have Black Friday discounts going so there are some really great deals to be had out there if you're not too picky about features. Please tell us when/if you get the extended factory warranty. I successfully avoided paying for that at the dealership but with all the technology in these new trucks I will want a longer warranty.

I was very particular in the options and color I wanted and waited a while before I found one (California). I get a lot of questions on how to get better deals on cars, and your ZR2 is a perfect example of how low supply/availability will completely handcuff your ability to negotiate to a certain extent. You'll only get so much off if they don't have many, or they are in high demand (the color thing). Hope you guys enjoy the truck, it's definitely one of my favorite mid-sized trucks, that 2.7L has been crazy reliable for GM. And to me, nothing looks better than the ZR2/AT4X in the truck realm...

Considered the ZR2, but didn't need the extra off-road capability vs. my Trail Boss. Got the TB for $33K with a $42K sticker, so it was pretty well optioned. With tax and about $3K in after-market mods, I'm at $39K lock, stock, and brake pedal. For my needs, the Trail Boss is unbeatable.

Like you, I had my must haves. Mine is yours minus the under-body cameras. After having one on order for 2+ months, I had to look elsewhere and drive 3 hours. I traded in my black '19 Magnuson supercharged Limited Nightshade 'Runner (soccer mommy/mall crawler) with a front leveling lift. Anyways, after 50+ years of Fords and Toyotas, I've got the second Chevy I've ever owned. I ain't lookin' back. BTW, I still have a Ranger Raptor on order ... I think. Ain't heard squat 'bout that in over 6 months. For 10K to 15K over they can keep it.

Jason, While you can't save as much money, I think the smart move is to get exactly what you want, rather than later regretting the lack of a sunroof or safety equipment or living with a less desireable color. When I was considering an out-of-state purchase, I found that the costs of shipping a vehicle to one's driveway (open truck) were a lot less than expected--and I got a lot of bids. I would have needed to reseach the reputations of these companies, however, rather than just going with the lowest bidder.

Strange that a Georgia dealer would order a front license plate bracket when Georgia is a one plate state. Alaska is also a one plate state and I don't see GM dealers ordering the front license plate bracket. I special ordered my truck from a dealer in Idaho and they said they could not delete the front license bracket since Idaho is the two plate state, but they didn't install it at my request. There also was no charge for it on my sticker. The reason I bought in Idaho was that I got 16.62 percent off MSRP when all was said and done. My fully loaded special order 2024 GMC Sierra SLT with the 3.0L Duramax stickered at $69,750. I paid $58,153.15 for it. Add in the $198 doc fee and I was out the door for $58,351.15. This dealer didn't add in any of that overpriced crap they make you take at so many other dealers. The savings more than made it worth my while to fly down and drive it back to Alaska. The only other direct expense was $15 for the title. I get one free license plate and I just transferred my vanity plate from my old truck to the new one. Alaska has no sales tax, so that wasn't a factor.

@grimstar8402 i remember my uncle always saying he was never gonna pay over $300 a month. He didn't care how long he had to take it out for. Last truck he got he financed for 84 months. I broke it down for him how much interest he was gonna pay total. He made double payments on it then. He'd be turning over in his grave hearing $800 for a mid size.

I only had 2 to negotiate with in all of Canada for the harvest bronze (one was over 2000 miles away)! Had to negotiate it against Tacomas I said I was interested in as well... Got ~8% off @ 4.99%, didn't get the sunroof I wanted but had all the other packages. A lot of people hate negotiating but I it's a great skill to build. Especially when you minimize the confrontation and emotion out of it and look for win/wins for both parties.

A day in Tijuana taught me the key to negotiating. When you think you’ve secured the “best deal”, walk away. Sure, you risk not getting the item, but you would be surprised how many times you get a better deal when you remove all emotion and put the ball back in the seller’s court.

Man ! I wish my bf did all the negotiating, however its me thats gonna have to do it. Im selling my Bronco Sport on Monday and still looking/calling around for a Trail Boss in White, so far 39,042 is the Best Price otd i can find. Which is in Texas and im in Sc. A one way flight is $400 and i havent ask how much it is to ship it yet...still feel like i can do better...any advice its for a 2024 Colorado Trail Boss in white or a ZR2 if the price is under 40 k...thanks!

@AncientAdventures I've been hearing alot this week dealers are tightening up. The best you can do is work a bunch of dealers. If the lowest number you are getting is 39 otd thst might be the best right now. On a trailboss thst price would be about 36ish before taxes and doc fees etc. That's pretty dang good. A zr2 under 40 will be like finding a unicorn

Congrats on the ZR2. I plan on buying one around June once dealerships have a better inventory . I use my truck for hunting all the time. I'd be curious Jason if your wifes ZR2 can hold a regular sized quad in box with tailgate down ( I have a Suzuki 400 eiger quad)

Nice deal. Pretty close to 10 grand more than my almost base model '24 TB that I bought back in August. All the upgraded hardware + the leather + a happy wife = worth it 👍 I did get 1.9% for 36 months from GM. Consider this: in the county I live in (Northern CA) the sales tax is almost 11% 😳. And this nanny state makes you pay that amount no matter what county within the state you buy from. In other words it's no use shopping around for a county with a lower sales tax from the one you live in.

I just picked up a 2024 GMC Sierra 1500 PRO. MSRP 49K. I got 7K off bust most of that was GM rebates and dealership only gave 1K discount. In this car market it was a decent deal but truck was still over priced.

Canyon cost more and has more features. But cost more. The zr2 does everything i need for a little less monet. But love the canyons too

I think you made out with a pretty good deal. Especially with how its equipped. Its near impossible to find that configuration brand new for under 50k up here in Michigan. Hell my 24 Pro-4X was stickered at 45k WITHOUT the premium package and it took a bit of back n forth to get it out the door for 48k. Had they not worked with me it would have been over 52k out the door and i would have walked and be in a new Trail Boss Colorado.

i think you came out great with a fantastic truck! question (i'm a fairly new subscriber so you've probably answered this in the past), how do you feel about warranties on some of the less reliable models/trucks? I know generally they are not a good idea but given the overall quality decrease especially with brands like Toyota I'm wondering if they are worth it? Maybe not from the dealer directly, but shortly after buying it?

Fsct9ry aftermarket warranty is a very smart choice in my opinion and I put them on every truck I buy now. Will on this too. Also agree with you usually better to buy them online after the sale or by calling multiple dealers to get the best price.

My guess based on the same motor in the silverado for 5 years is it's a 150k trouble free motor on average. They built the 2.7 very well.
