This is a really excellent point. I had to pause it and go and tell my t1d son how to answer this question when asked. Your suggested response, "Oh, this is a really cool device that..." is most empowering. Thank you indeed for this. Just subscribed, thumbs up!

Thanks for this thoughtful response. This part of diabetes was the hardest part for me. I find learning from others who figured out how to feel good about it is what helped me the most here. I’m so glad you found it empowering. You sound like a really supportive father!

Joey, that's nice to hear. I am glad you are thinking similarly. It's always great to find a connection that way. Are there any LADA specific topics that you think we need to share the word on more? Thanks!

Hi, thank you for this powerful and relatable message. I’m a new CGM (Dexcom 6) plus Omnipod user and I have a question - have you faced problems when having the CGM on the backside of one arm and the pump on the other? What would you recommend in general? I’d love it if both devices could be fixed to my arm…If you can share your experiences then it’d be great! Thank you.

Hi, thank you for your comment. Omnipod 5 and Dexcom do have recommendations on placement for connectivity. They recommend they stay on the same side of the body and that they are at least a few inches apart. I have experimented with all sorts of places personally such as different sides of the body and closer than 2 inches apart without any challenges in connectivity. I like to change my locations and rotate them around to decrease the likelihood of scare tissue. Hope this gives you some insight on my experience.

Hey Becca, Thanks for commenting. Yes! This is a topic I would love to address. Other than general info, do you have any specific concerns I can provide any more information on?

@drhannahhamlin I'm just unsure what a good range is? What would I do if they go high/low while at school? Would there ever be times when I would have to test/ give insulin?
@drhannahhamlin
@drhannahhamlin Жыл бұрын
@@geekyguirl These are great questions. Many schools have different policies and they can greatly differ. Typically, the school nurse will keep track of a child's goal range (per their doctor) and be the one testing / giving insulin. I'll touch on this more in the video. Thanks again!

how good is omnipod 5 compared to omnipod dash?
@drhannahhamlin
@drhannahhamlin Жыл бұрын
They are both good. The omnipod 5 is the one that changes your basal rate for you to help to prevent lows and highs. The dash doesn’t have the capability to do this. In my experience, Omnipod 5 is worth switching to if you have the opportunity. There are studies to show that it can help blood sugar levels overall too.

Hello, Thanks for your comment. There are so so many new developments for treatment and prevention of T1D. We live in a really exciting time. I have heard of many new advancements over the past 18 years that can help make life easier with T1D or prevent/treat it altogether. It's really hard to know if or when they will come to fruition. I saw we keep hoping and paying attention to the studies. It's amazing how far we have come, we will no doubt continue to improve.
