I took a video on this and it sucked, and now I don't own the Osmose anymore - so here's me talking about why I don't really like it instead, with no Osmose in sight.
TLDR: It's really fun, but also you need to be really good at playing keyboards for it, which ... I am not.
Osmose pros:
-it sounds great. Just listen to a demo, you’ll see what I mean. Here's loopop's, for instance: • Expressive E Osmose //...
-There are a lot of unique sounds in this synth that you wouldn’t normally get from a synth.
-The expressiveness of the keybed makes sounds feel alive.
-There are a bunch of effects and a tilt EQ built-in. It’s a nice extra to give you some sound shaping!
Osmose cons:
-That expressiveness of the keybed is too much to handle if you’re not good at playing piano.
-There's very little onboard tweaking of the synth sounds. I really enjoy playing around with the sound of a synth while playing, and that's much less possible than normal on this synth. You have six macros - that includes filter cutoff, resonance, your ADSR … so you will always be missing things.
-The osmose feels fun but also it's very much its own thing and doesn't go really well into a normal synth 'lane'.
... My sound is so much better using my actual microphone. Who knew, having a microphone one inch from your face will sound better than a microphone 5 feet away? Crazy.
I have a few video ideas for the near future that aren't gear reviews too, so hopefully I can get to those at some point!
