What I think of the Eton Elite Field BT radio AM FM Shortwave with Bluetooth

I really like this radio as a back up radio. I love it as a travel radio for AM dxing. The sound is awesome, battery life is stellar ( I don’t like it on house current). Also the amber display is great for outdoor and low light situations; especially for those with visual impairments. FM is great audio and portable for room to room transport. I live near a lot of electrical interference that seems to intensify in the house outlets so radios that can run on battery are a big plus for me. Admittedly shortwave is not the best but in situations where I might be dxing AM, FM and shortwave it is acceptable for casual use.

Thank you for this accurate review. I have a refurbished version of this radio that was discounted on Amazon. This is not my go to radio for shortwave, but the speaker makes it excellent sounding on all bands. FM reception is a little better than average for me and the decent AM reception makes it fairly dependable. I am glad to see a review of this from this channel.

AT least your screen appears to function properly for yours. I cannot tell you how many of these radios were floating around with bad LCD screens. I sent mine back.

I have one of these and I agree with you for the most part. I normally have a couple of radios running at the same time.. I’ve found that this one is a good option for some background scanning while I’m manually tuning my main two radios. On a mega loop it will sometimes find a interesting channel. yes, the radio has very good sound. AM/FM reception is excellent. The problem is after eight months to a year the screen disappears. The radio starts changing from a.m. to FM for no reason Radio turns itself off for no reason and that is not the sleep timer. I’ve called Eaton many times and they refuse to answer my calls or be in communication with me about a radio that’s very expensive and it doesn’t work. Do not buy this radio. 4:09

The AM is bad....I agree with U...in tuned in on KNX on 1070khz....2500miles from here.....on the Field Radio....it is not loud like sure be....the Sony ICF 2003...it was loud and it was heard across the room...than I Used the Eton Elite it was louder....than I heard the KPH Point Reyes Marine on 8765khz in Side Band heard it better on 8845khz it was muffled but still was able to understand the voice... same with Air on 8843khz...it was better on 8845khz.. .as it boomed in...

It seems to me that the soft mute threshold on your Eton Field is set too high . It should be a very good MW and SW performer as in my example and tested by other reviewers.

I have several reviewers I follow that are at the same conclusion.. this radio is not that great, only audio quality is amazing

@@OfficialSWLchannel Jay Allen rates the radio a 4 on his AM shootout and a 5 for FM . SW also compared to other radios comparable. Todderbert also gives the Eton Elite Field a good rating on AM (MW) and FM. Both highly respected reviewers . So it seems the performance and opinions vary.

These radios I have 2 both eat the batteries when using the ac adapter. Power goes out and presets gone batteries dead also want to take it somewhere like outside well better have some new d batteries gets annoying and expensive such a bad flaw
