Good to hear from a reliable source that they’re solid waders. Got mine 1/2 off regular price and been using them for a bit, love them so far.
@casualobserver31452 жыл бұрын
I just bought these as my first waders. For years I wore only an old pair of running shoes and swim trunks. Then I upgraded to Keen sandals and lightweight, quick drying hiking shorts. Now that I’m old I crave comfort and quality over Spartanism. I’m off to Arkansas next month then Colorado in July so these new waders will definitely see some use.

Bought the same waders 4 months ago, and they are greaaaaat! Fits well, the material is really tough and seems really durable, socks fit well, the whole waders looks mint...love them!!!

I just purchased a set of the Pro waders a couple of weeks ago. So far they are great waders. But, you are always worried about how long they will last. Seeing the torture you put your through tells me I made the right choice.
@CrazyAboutFlyFishing4 жыл бұрын
Looks like great waders. It's just that price tag that keeps me from getting gear like that. They would have to last a very long time for it to be worthwhile for me. I have used a wide range of budget ones over time and they all eventually leak but have held up reasonably well. I find that this new UV aquaseal/stormsure stuff is a quick and easy fix. No more waiting 24hrs for it to dry. Just do a torch light inspection in a dark spot and you can fix most leaks pretty quick. The patches add character 😂

I have a pair, love them so far. People were saying to get the taller version because it can be hard to bend over with how the waders are built to be athletic. so I got the taller version even though I'm not particularly long legged. No problem bending down and no excess bagginess!

I have a pair of guide pants waders still good after 20 years!!! Orvis ones!!! 👍👍
@markv75804 жыл бұрын
Thanks Alex. Do you wear an extra neoprene liner sock to protect the wader sock? Surprised the socks have lasted that long if not. Can you do the same update for the Orvis Pro Boots from a year ago as well please? - what size did you order relative to normal shoe size, how is the width fit, do you have to add a size if using neoprene sock liner, have the soles fallen off yet (as some users have experienced) etc. Thanks.

No mate, I just run the waders as they are. I’ll do a boot review too for sure🤙
@Avicados4 жыл бұрын
I too own a pair of the Pro waders, and I concur the wader is extremely tough. BUT, I had to send them back to Orvis for a leaking bootie and it’s been 6 weeks! The warranty is horribly slow, and for that reason I won’t be purchasing another pair. The neoprene sock is extremely weak and thin compared to the strength of the outer.
@TrippinOnTrout4 жыл бұрын
That sucks man, nothing more frustrating than something like that taking so long!!
@Avicados3 жыл бұрын
So I hope someone sees this update if they’re interested. After calling Orvis they explained the situation in their wader repair dept. some slow downs were from the states regulations on covid and some being there goal to keep their employees safe. They sent me a replacement pair next day. I hope they are back up to speed as we settle into post vaccine.
@alleghenyadventures8561 Жыл бұрын
Post COVID. Mine got a leak in the booties also. They would not replace or repair the booties. But they offered me a discount on another pair. Hopefully I find a place that will repair my original for a backup.
@Avicados Жыл бұрын
@@alleghenyadventures8561 I had my second pair go out in the bootie as well. It’s a weak point on the wader, and for the price doesn’t seem acceptable. Instead of hassling with the warranty again I fixed them myself with SeamGrip WP, highly suggest it, it’s a little stronger than Aquaseal for bootie repair. No problem with the bootie for the last couple months now.

Talking about waders, i noticed you and Gareth wear your waders on long hikes before you get to fishable water rather than pack them in. Is that because of the amount of gear you are already packing that it is just easier to wear? I would think it would be uncomfotable or too hot for long hike ins, unless you are doing a lot of stream crossings.
@TrippinOnTrout4 жыл бұрын
Yeah basically it’s just easier to wear them in and out, less to carry and as soon as it gets warmer we wet wade so it’s not too bad

Any update on how these are holding up? I bought the Clearwaters and almost a year on the mark, the sock is leaking. Wondering if these are any better. I fish about once a week and thought I would have gotten longer out of the sock, for sure.

Watch the Friday Filler tomorrow bro. Can you maybe aqua seal the hole (if it’s not the seam)?

@@89rexxin oh that’s a bummer, seams are a bit more tricky. I never got more than a couple months out of the cheaper waders I bought over the years.

Yes, I had the same problem, Aquasealed heavily, to no avail. It’s either the seams or material, don’t know which. Same problem with top end silver sonics I bought before the Clearwaters. Maybe these are better but I didn’t chance it this time, I went with another brand.

I guess I am the exception here. I got a pr last fall and didn't put them to use until this spring. Thanks to Covid and travel restrictions my fishing was limited - maybe 80 hrs on stream; not a lot all things considered. Well, I have been getting soaking wet in these things for the last month and a half. I've just put up with it and will be returning mine next weekend when I am up in Manchester. I put a flashlight inside and ran the light along the seams and sure enough there was enough light coming through to have a new solar system. The seams just plain failed on both legs. And no, I am not really putting these through rugged use. I'm not going through thorn bushes, sliding down rocky banks or anything of the sort. They just plain failed. Disappointing would be a mild word.
