My squad was low on ammo, got rushed on both sides by drones. In 30 seconds, one squad member went into a coma, another was abducted, and ended up carrying the 3rd squad member to the ARC for extraction to the Otago where he had his leg amputated. I couldn't be happier with this game.

I like the stress mechanic overall. But I do think the marines are a little too quick to lose their minds. They are trained and well armed marines after all, and the Aliens are tough but Killable. Maybe the marines should gain courage points as they level up or something.

There should be a trait that does assign to them. The team management is pretty decent. I don't imagine it would be terribly hard to implement a sort of, desensitization process, to the marines after "X" amount of missions.

My favorite way to play is with the Aliens having the lowest health pool, but with detection rate, aggression, and damage turned all the way up. That way, I feel like a badass when I am properly prepared for an encounter, and I get torn apart the SECOND I get cocky

I can't agree with you more. The Aliens franchise had a few wins, but I don't think anything like this. Aliens Fireteam Elite was pretty good. I think the repetitiveness really impacted peoples replayability. However, I'm on my second playthrough of this game, and I tell you what, currently, I could go for a third playthrough.

One was when I went in an elevator, I had to get out and re-enter the elevator to use it, and another one I had to restart the game because it wouldn't let me equip my marines with tools/med kits for a mission

It really feels that way. I never got bored with the title. I stopped playing at the end of my Hard Playthrough because I wanted to leave on a high note. If I didn't have a channel and other games I wanted to play to showcase, I could see myself playing ADD for months. months.

I think we can view them more as run and gun shooters than horror/thrillers. Dark Descent did a great job with the audio and ambiance of the Aliens universe. Best Aliens game in a decade.

Basically on Hard you can't feel anything for your marines...think of em all as expendable cannon fodder. It's the only way. Expect to loose a minimum of 2 marines each deployment

Extinction, I think is what it was called? Dark Descent is, in m opinion, the best Aliens game in a decade (the former being Isolation). Dark Descent plays like Metal Gear meets X-com. You can't expect to use your Marines to "take it to the bugs". It just doesn't play that way. Humans are GROSSLY outmatched by the Xeno's.

I like the fact that it embraced the 90s aliens lore with psychic abilities and the unknown horror, all that. Instead of whatever prometheus was... Also what do you prefer to use, I still use the pulse rifle/heavy pulse rifle/shotgun combo for squads and spam motion trackers anytime

Honestly this game is super good. I highly recommend this game. It's so detailed. Like one of my soldiers passed out after getting his arm cut off by a alien. I put the soldier on my back and got him outta there. Now he is a bad ass with a robot arm

My hope, is that this title get's more love now that it's on xbox gamepass. I'd like to see Tindalos do more with the series. There's been some conversation between some influencers that, with an Xcom3 on the horizon, yet to be announced, they'd like to see this style played out instead of initiative based turns like traditional xcom. I think that would play out very very well. I think Tindalos did a great job implementing this play style. I can't say I've seen it anywhere else.

game is really tense the first few levels until you start to figure things out. Unfortunately, there are some really annoying spawn points. Had this really annoying area in the level right after you go to the space station where I didn't want to get spotted but aliens kept spawning form the location I needed to go, walking outside, getting killed by the APC, then immediately re spawning before I could get my troops down the hall fast enough to get where I needed to go. Though once I figured out there's a save glitch where you can rest, save, load then rest again without breaking the seal I combined that with the Resourceful skill (1 free ammo each time you rest) and gave my troops 99 ammo It became a lot easier :D.

ha, it's a little over exaggerated. I was trying to capture the stress of the game. I threw my teams against the bugs several times to get this b-roll footage. It will ABSOLUTELY reach a point if your not careful, where it could look just like this. I've got a few tactical videos out there on bosses and how to handle them. The approach to the game is very personal to your tactical style. Just go slow, be safe and remember that we're outnumbered and outmatched. This was made with some "forced" b-roll footage for the dramatics and comedy of it all. truthfully, as I was trying to get this footage, my reckless playstyle was actually doing quite well. I had to replay several versions of the missions shown in order to get this footage. I had one hallway where it was just xeno bodies on top of xeno bodies lol.

@20MG AVP Extinction did it pretty well, it let you play as Aliens and Predator, Aliens were fun and over powered as fuck because if I remember correctly, the queen could lay almost an infinite amount of eggs and you had different types of Aliens, you had a mix of scouts, warriors and other types.

@@wodensthrone5215 Ha, that's a hell of a feature lol. I remember playing Aliens Online, and having a heck of a time competing against the Xenos'. They really had the edge on the Marines. The teams would always auto-balance and if you didn't have a good Marines team, you just got smoked. I can't say I've ever enjoyed playing as the Xeno's. Just because I really tune into playing as a Terran player. I like the Terrans in Starcraft, Space Marines or IG in 40K. I've just always leaned into my human heritage with games I play. However, that being said, I think having the role of Xeno's in this game could be pretty fun.

They should added roles that you can pick. You can be colonial marines, aliens and predators. Showing each race have their own class, perks and tech gain through the game.

That is some common feedback. I think the game was a huge success. I'm not sure how Tindalos feels about it, but I think that the majority of people think it was a success. The only issue with everything is licensing and making sure that the owners of the IP are willing to work with the developers.

I was going to talk some shit until I saw the pinned comment, but the game is, in my experience, all about planning ahead and choosing where you want to fight because fights are inevitable. Stress management isn't a cakewalk, but you are given quite a few tools to manage it.

There is a delicate balance, right? You have to take your time and plan ahead and adjust accordingly, however, the longer you stay on a mission the more stress management becomes a problem. This game really brought several things for the forefront on gaming that I don't think people realize. Good team management, tactical awareness and the ability to adjust to aggravating situations. Anecdotally though, I played so many missions BADLY to get this footage. I was really trying to grab some fun footage about how aggressive the game plays and in doing so, my team was actually taking the fight successfully, to the Xeno's. This 30 seconds of footage was collected over probably, 2 hours of replayed missions. it was NOT working out in my favor lol.

The biggest let down was the lack of turn based combat, I was expecting Wasteland 3 and instead had to play 2nd fiddle to the AI marines who have questionable survival instincts

I mean the game was never presented as a turn-based strategy game. So I can appreciate that the game was created and people were disappointed that it wouldn't be turn-based, but you wouldn't believe the amount of people who said they bought the game and returned it instantly when they realized that it wasn't a first person shooter. I think the ability to freeze time makes managing the team easier than using the slow motion. I was never a huge fan of the slow motion.

@20MG The one try I did with 2 drones lived a strong 1 then 4 alien ambush I was not expecting. With a 4 man squad and a level 1 marine in there I only took 1HP and 1 repair a drone damage I think it was.

It's brutal but in a good way. Game makes you want to play smart, which gets you engaged into it. I absolutely love setting up traps to lure enemies into. Second Queen I had to kill got the brunt of this. Since you had the option to be sneaky with her, what I did was back track & make a killzone with sentry guns, while leaving mines along the way. Sent the squad in, lobbed a grenade at her, & then had them haul ass back to the killzone. Tore her to shreds.

Great game, only real complaint is the pulse rifle is the base weapon, it should have been the top weapon or 2nd place.

Yeah, I can appreciate the interest in more weapons for the game or a different leveling system at least. I do like that they kept it pretty lore accurate within the Aliens Universe as well as modernly. Since the M41A is their standard issue rifle, it makes sense to offer it immediately. I don't think that the rifle is bad either. There are trade offs to each weapon used, perhaps with the exception of the Plasma Rifle (that thing is just, over the top). Sure the Heavy Pulse is nice for the damage, but the damage isn't so over the top that it's ABSOLUTELY worth it. I ran my Pulse Rifles through almost my entire second playthrough and didn't have a single issue. There is a realism to the equipment issued to the Marines, and I really liked that. I think that we can get consumed with games giving us something new all the time. Upgrades this, upgrade that, new level, research. I enjoyed the stability of the gear progression in the game.

I do think they should have started us out with like a "Pulse Carbine" or something like that, so when you got the pulse rifle in a couple levels, it was like "yeah boy!". Kinda like they did with the APC, I had no idea that was coming and then bam! I'm also on the fence about the flame unit. It should be a primary weapon, but I'm not sure the game would work if it were.

yeah see thats how it was in the first 20hrs of the game for me (still on a single campaign) i hit 27hrs and said im the road runner and just speed blitzed every mission after 5 to 11 and once you get those beautiful plasma guns it really does just feel like the first part of the video until the part in chap 11 that becomes a true horror show making me want to just leave the room cause i wasted 5 welds on one room lol

The Plasmas are a nice touch. They really are. I'm, clearing Atmo Processor on my my second playthrough right now, and I still haven't jumped on the Heavy Pulse. I've got someone close to the Plasma though. So close.
