She usually ate a lot of sugar all her life and smoke a cigarette a day. . But lately was and has been good . As of yesterday she’s over it and her spirit is down. She refuses to eat, I’m so frustrated And mad at her for giving up. I have mix emotions. I geniuenly feel mad at her for not taking care of her health When she should have. She begins chemo tommow all prayers appreciated. Her name is Alicia. Hope everyones hopes & dreams AND prayers come true. 🙏🏽

Thank you so much for sharing your cancer journey with us Michelle. First of all I am so happy you are cancer free and living a wonderful life with your beautiful family. I am 2 years NED from small cell lung cancer and have been watching others tell their stories since I've been diagnosed and yours is the most relatable by far. It's the after cancer journey...I neither am the person I was before cancer and the physical changes like you said just added a sort of trauma to it all. I totally lost my identity at that time and then some going foward. Not wanting to sound like I'm not grateful to be cancer free because I most certainly am but I have kept so much of that part to myself and I too am 2 years later still working on foods I can tolerate ect. Im sorry you lost your mom , i can promise you she was so grateful to have you and your husband as her caregivers, that was the kindest thing to have your child help you when you cant help yourself as much as we dont want to put our children through that. My daughter was by my side at all my chemo and radiation treatments and i will be forever grateful. 19:34

Cancer sucks. I found out 6 months ago I have stage 4 lung cancer. After the initial shock of finding out, it's not the fact of knowing I could possibly die soon, it's everything else. Being out of work and how to pay the bills, constant dr visits, waiting on test results, being in pain and more. My team of doctors are doing a great job treating it and made leaps and bounds and I might be able to go back to work in a month. But even if they were to completely cure this, it's going to effect me for the rest of my life and always be on my mind.

@@teddine7366 I’m so sorry. I understand completely how hard what you are going through is. I had to quit my job when I was diagnosed with non hodkins lymphoma and wound up in the hospital for an emergency procedure just a few days later. I spent 6 weeks altogether in the hospital and another 4 months in bed doing chemo. The issues with getting sick, losing your job and not having insurance are real and so stressful. It really isn’t right that health insurance is linked to our jobs. Just when you need it most, you don’t have it.

@@sharimeyers292 I am very lucky to the fact I live in New York State. We have an awesome public health insurance system here. They are taking care of everything. And they help if you can't afford the insurance at work or if it is not good. You apply to it, they make you pick an insurance provider like blue cross or fidelis or whatever, and then you pay on a sliding scale based on your income. People like to complain about the taxes here, but you get what you pay for in a sense. My friend moved to South Carolina and he tried to keep his NY insurance as long as he could he said.

I have non hodkins pulmonary 8 yrs watch and wait. Past 2 months experiencing chest pain in upper back. Crisis came 7 days ago I suddenly had intense pain and felt I was drowning. I went to ER no scan for cancer, no blood test, no heart test, xray was told nothing in lung except original tumor and that thry noticed wedging on spine but I have had osteoporosis 10 years I'm aware of this. Was sent home. Nothing changed pain wise, but after 3 days breathing normalized. I'm waiting for a telephone consult with gp the oncologist never phoned back. So ya it's a stressful time. 8 years no treatment is like close to max on the survival charts. I still worry.

Is it just me, or is there a difference between being cured or being in remission? Lots of comments, that cancer seems to always be related to meat consumption and other similar outside noxes being the cause for cancer. Neuroendocrine and several other tumours are just plain bad genes or even just bad luck. It should be our doctors and the oncologist who tell us and work out the individual treatment plans.

Cancer comes from many different sources. Sometimes it comes from sources. Other times it comes from genetics. I know you’re trying to be helpful. Thank you for that. But unless you’re a ln expert on all things cancer, it’s not good to blame one specific thing. Even experts don’t understand everything about cancer. Or where it originates from. Being supportive and understanding, and loving and caring is fantastic. But giving information that’s not true only causes problems and negativity. We who don’t know everything should focus on helping others in ways that can make people feel good. Feel better than before. If you feel strongly about what you’re saying, then go research and dedicate yourself to helping others. Just don’t spout off about things that you read in an article, or saw on one documentary. I’m not mad at you, I’m not being mean. I’m trying to help you do something important with your beliefs and opinions. You can do good things. But it’s important that you speak the truth. Not just your own opinion, that came from faulty information.
