Thanks for showing the SW-Motech mounting bracket! I didn't know that you can take them off so easily. I will now consider buying them. I think they look fine on the Speed Twin, too. They are not 100% in style, but close enough. And shout out to Classicbike Raisch! They are just a few kilometers away from where I live. Very friendly guys with a lot of experience!

Got the same bike, same colour, tail tidy, bench seat, black intake covers, headlight bevel, V&H + decat. Perfect for me, personally wouldn’t bother with power commander and tank pads but each to their own. Just need to be able to ride it now.

Great video. Love the blaze saddle bags, I converted my old set from my nc750x and they look the same although fit slightly different. I feel your pain with the tank pad situation, I opted for small clear gel pads and stuck them on in my own design. They are hardly noticable and I can live with them rather than a marked tank. Keep up the good work.

ST1200 and Kriega 30L here on every trip. Sometimes even add a backpack on top of the Kriega. Highway and mountain roads with zero issues. I like that side bag supports, but don't like the side bags. Hate even more horrendous side racks. I wish those discreet side bag supports would have more models and compatibility. Prefect for me would be the sw-motec legend gear to compatible with that Blaze support arms. cheers

Nice video, glad you're able to put some miles on the bike during these lock-down times. Not sure about any pads on that lovely tank (although the seam welds are not great). Personally I'd leave it alone. I have a Dart fairing on mine, since doing a few miles cruising at 80mph it helps take the wind off a bit. YMMV as they say. I also use a Beeline sat nav, as the handlebar vibes killed my iPhone camera (twice).

I have a lot of friends with the clear ones and they get rather yellow over time. I just decided to get some black sheets and am cutting them to match the Black painted area.

Hmm, that yellowing would bug me. I wonder if it would still happen to a bike that doesn't stay parked in direct sunlight.

Hmm......agree...I have a Legend Gear mount on my Scrambler but it does not work as a permanent fixture on the Speed Twin. I think the Blaze bags are better than I thought, kinda vibe with the "modern" of the modern classic. I have added an X Pipe (British Customs) at my first service, probably a want rather than need - certainly smooths the throttle response, adds audible value but also (I know it's logical) enhances the fumes ;). Will meld nicely with a black Predator pipe down the line. I have a tank pouch bag coming from Trip Machine Company (their saddlebags are cool as reviewed by Stuart Fillingham), and would love the Union Jake radiator cover from Motone..... so much goodness in the Speed Twin and in your channel!
@VanBlamm4 жыл бұрын
I strongly considered the Legend Gear as well, but that setup was a bit more expensive and the pictures made it look like it might not fit with these darned US 3-in-1 indicators. I'm very happy with the Blaze bags though. Sounds like you've got a sweet setup on your Scrambler!

Great Video! Are you not afraid of the vibrations in the handelbar that could effect - maybe destroy - your cellphone? What do you think about navigation with a Beeline device?
@VanBlamm3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! No, it doesn't worry me and I've never had a problem, but I'm still using a Pixel 3. I think as phones get more advanced, they get more delicate. Whatever my next phone is, I probably will not mount it to the handlebar. I hear nothing but good things about beeline!

Great video👍 Got a speed twin last year and love it, silver is the only way to go. Xpipe from tec bikes is a must and sounds amazing with the stock cans. Tail tidy, bench seat and ceramic coating and thats all im doing to mine. Personally i hate the look of the American turn signals.
@stevesteve19654 жыл бұрын
I personally would go with a dyno type power commander thing as it messes around with the bikes brain/electronics and 'could' cause problems in the future (which I see all the time on bike forums) I'd go with a Booster Plug, it smooths everything out, its cheaper and you can always take it off, doesn't need remapping or a dyno. X pipe is a good move too as it liberates some power and breathing is improved with the bonus of making your stock exhaust sound much more fruity.
@wrxguyusa4 жыл бұрын
If it makes the bike better to ride, stick those grips on the tank. Nice content. I did the Arlington and then Alexandria to DC commute for years when I worked downtown. Best way to get in and out of the city and "free" parking.

It's a great bike. One of my faves. I see nothing objectionable to tank pads
@ams9144 жыл бұрын
Knee pads only look good with the all-black version, on the black version I think they actually improve the looks. They definitely interrupt the design on the silver and red, but you have to decide if you prioritize form or function.

You're right about the looks. I'm going to put down a few more miles before I make a decision. Thanks for watching!

Small wind screen would be good, like on the Street Cup, silver spoked rims from the 2019 Thruxton R... that would make the Speed Twin amazing
@VanBlamm4 жыл бұрын
Y'know, I've never felt the need for a windscreen, and I personally don't care for spoked wheels on modern Bonnies, but the fact that those options exist is what's so great about these bikes -- endlessly customizable!

Really liking this channel! In general I like the knee pads but agree with others that it doesn't work with most Spd Twn color schemes. Nice to see someone not paranoid about others seeing their license plate - never could understand that hangup. Have you looked at DNY Tuneworks for future upgrade (and video)?

I have a 2019 speed twin as well (same color). And I also love tank grips. But I have to cast a "no" vote for them on the Speed Twin. Unless youre dragging your knee through the canyons, I say don't sacrifice the look of that classic beautiful tank. You may think about putting some small leather patches on the inside thighs of your riding pants. I find a leather contact patch will grip the tank reasonably well.
@VanBlamm4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching and weighing in! I think you and others have successfully steered me away from the tank pads. The patches you described sound clever, I'll look into that.

I had considered a rear rack, and people seem to really like the H&B. However, it too is incompatible with the American turn signals, and I personally don't like the look of a rear rack that protrudes beyond the fender. Thanks for watching!

Which bike should I get. The speed twin or trident? This will be my 3rd bike
@VanBlamm3 жыл бұрын
That's a nice dilemma to have! Depends on if you want more tech and agility (Trident) or more torque and personality (Speed Twin). To me, sport performance is something I can only take advantage of in certain situations, but I can enjoy character at all times. One my my favorite traits of the Speed Twin is that it's fun to ride at any pace. The Trident is a truly excellent machine when you get on it, but at around-town speeds it feels like any other middleweight sportbike IMHO.

Great bike! Do you really feel like you need tank pads ? IMHO the paint scheme on your bike does not work with any type of tank pads really. Do you plan to add any sort of windscreen ?
@VanBlamm4 жыл бұрын
I'm having second thoughts about the tank pads; I might just put some 3M clear protective film on the sides to protect the paint from my pants and just live with it. I don't feel the need for any kind of windscreen, but everyone's different. Wind blast simply doesn't bother me.
@efthimiosa4 жыл бұрын
@@VanBlamm I have a speed twin as well same color! Since the tank is a hand made painting and all, I would not add anything on there... But thats just me... As for the screen, I would go for the medium size one from Dart!

I'm not sure you have to tune it on a dyno after replacing the exhausts. I'm just about to replace my stock ones with a TEC 2-1 RAIDER and read somewhere that Triumph's have an adaptive ECU since 2016, so I hope my Twin will tune itself to it automatically.
@VanBlamm4 жыл бұрын
I've heard conflicting information about the adaptive ECU; some folks say it isn't flexible enough to accommodate a different exhaust system due to emissions laws, while others say no retuning is necessary. Perhaps I'll do the exhaust changes and only worry about a tune if I feel like it doesn't run as well as it should. The last thing I want is for this 1200 motor to run any leaner than it needs to, because this thing gets plenty hot as is!
