If you're just driving on slow speed and your tire is brand new, just plug it. If your tire is already past half its milage then just replace it. That's how I do it for years so i don't waste money and rubber but if you're driving a sports bike then just buy brand new tire since sports bike run in faster speed putting lots of strains on the tire

Solid advice

@@VanBlammand one more, tire sealant can save you the hassle and time if your tire is past half its milage since it will easily get punctured and rip even by rocks and other sharp object the cons is you need to put a new tire sealant after 6months or 8, filling it also with nitrogen will extend the tire milage and since it's denser it would maintain its pressure and wont leak for long time specially if you have patched or plug it.

As others have said, the storytelling and excellent cinematography is what makes this vid. Also enjoyed seeing the final stills. Probably the AF performance of your Sony is making the panning shots challenging? At least drawing from my experience as a once-photography enthusiast, it was always AF performance + me needing to more fully understand how the camera worked and adjusting my shooting technique accordingly.
@TonyN4918 күн бұрын
Also-- not sure if you're still running wide open aperture on the panning shots, but maybe stopping down to increase your DOF should make it more tolerant of focusing errors.
@VanBlamm7 күн бұрын
Thanks! I bet you're right about not running wide open. Any background blur I lose by going up to like f/5.6 might not be noticeable thanks to the motion blur. I'll give that a try next time. It's so easy to fall into that mentality of "I paid for f/2.8, so damn it I'm going to use f/2.8"...

Is there any chance you can post the measurements? Looking for the length of top and bottom flat parts and height between them in the front and back. Would be greatly appreciated!

For those with tubed tires, something like Motul P3 Tire Repair will fix the problem until you can patch the tire and get a new tube. Just be sure to read the instructions before using it.

I've had a couple in 4 years of riding. Plugged them both using the same method. My first one went better than the 2nd which I had to redo like you did. However, for peace of mind, I would highly recommend getting a tyre off repair by a professional. It cost me £35 for them to come to my house and do it. Which, considering the element of safety here, is a bargain.

Nice video and kudos for showing the fail(s). I started with mushroom plugs and then Ryan F9 messed that all up. I've been using the Stop & Go ever since, having plugged more tires from riding buddies than my own. The worst puncture I've had so far was a stupid nail that was in the side wall. I did a quick plug on the side of the road to get me the 10 miles to home, stopping to check the plug / pressure two times along the way. I had a new tire installed -- a side wall repair/patch is never a good idea.
@VanBlamm22 күн бұрын
Oof, a sidewall puncture is no joke. Sounds like your riding buddies are lucky to have you around!

October 2023, nail in rear tire just as I was getting home, plugged it myself and had the tire replaced shortly thereafter (going on a multiday trip, didn't want to have to worry about the plug failing, and the front tire was pretty new. October 2024, to the exact day! of the last tire mishap, got a screw in the rear tire, 100 miles away from home but not in the middle of nowhere at least and had my plug kit. Plugged it myself. Still holding after 500 miles. I'm at 9000 on the front tire so I'm just going to replace both at the same time when the time comes. The worst part about getting a puncture is the hassle of fixing it, especially when you don't have a full repair kit with you. And yet, you'd think after the first incident I would always be prepared...
@RiskyR23 күн бұрын
Again, nice video! Got my first puncture about 40 miles from home, and about 10 miles from the nearest motorcycle shop. Drove very slow to the shop, but as I got a Guzzi V7 with tubed tires, repairing wasn't so easy. My mate had to go to another shop about 20 miles away, just to get an inner tube for my bike!

Great advice, great video as always. I have done many car tire plugs. It is easy with practice, and getting the feel for how much effort is actually required to get past steel belts, which can be considerable as sometimes the tool gets caught and you must pull out with enough force to break a steel wire or two in the tire. But the biggest problem for the side of road repair is having a tool to pull out the puncture. Sometimes a screwdriver, sometimes pliers, sometimes a screw driver with the correct bit (Phillips, square drive, torx) to just unscrew it, others a pick of some sort. Hoping not to pop my side of the road breakdown or flat cherry anytime soon, as I am unprepared on my motorcycle rides.
@projectswithjw23 күн бұрын
I had a tube blow on front because the previous owner didn't install the spoke strip in the center. Happened about 60 mph 👎 I think your plug should last the life of the tire. I think the speed may be more about the plug throwing off the tire balance than losing the seal but its just my opinion.
@VanBlamm22 күн бұрын
Interesting point, I hadn't thought about the balancing

I got a tire plug fitted at my local tire repair shop and they left it protruding about 5 mm, then they used a lighter and set it on fire for a few seconds before crushing it flush.
@frederickwoods594323 күн бұрын
Nothing wrong with your fix, the second one passed the test and often the first rope plug doesn't work; that is why there are so many in the kit. I haven't had a flat in 70,000+ miles....yet 😊 That is excellent tire/tread life for a rear tire reflecting the fact that you are not running it hard and don't weigh 220 pounds. I still have my identical Speed Twin 1200 and it has less than 1,100 miles...

@VanBlamm29 күн бұрын
If it's sounding muffled then you should try moving it into open air. Just make sure it's someplace that's blocked from the wind. I have clipped a DJI Wireless Mic (original, not 2) to the strap across my pillion seat and got decent results. If you wear a backpack with an external pocket, you could partially unzip that pocket and clip the mic to it.
@FuelledByMuffins28 күн бұрын
@@VanBlamm ah yes! Unzip it! What a great idea thanks for that. Will try that. Oh how about just placing the mic in my right side pocket if the exhaust is on the right?
