Glen Henry is a father changing the world. With prior success in music, he left the industry because he realized the biggest “stage” he’d ever perform on would be in his living room and his biggest fans would be his family. In 2015, he started his fast-growing KZbin channel called Beleaf In Fatherhood by welcoming us into his home to show the fun and real misadventures of parenting. Glen Henry is a father changing the world. In 2015, he started his fast-growing KZbin channel called Beleaf In Fatherhood by welcoming us into his home to show the fun and real misadventures of parenting. Growing up in Baltimore, he saw few examples of healthy family dynamics. Now he hopes to Equip Fathers, Give Hope to Mothers and Inspire Children with every upload. It is awesome seeing all of the empathic dads, single dads, and stay at home Dads on youtube. As a single dad it has made me feel a lot less alone. Although we now have a family, my son has a step mom and step sister, I still feel a lot of the weight being a majority time sharing parent. Thanks to all of you.

So true. "Women's" work and unpaid work are so undervalued. Thank you for shedding light on a vastly under supported and undervalued full time + overtime job. It's arguably the most important one out there; what is instilled in children sets their path as adults.

Thank you so much for this amazing, truthful, accurate, and much needed talk. I've had just about every job under the sun. I'm now a stay at home dad, and I can say without a doubt that It's the most physically, mentally, and emotionally draining job I've ever had. Loneliness, lack of energy, severe levels of stress, and the feeling that you're never doing a good enough job are what makes being a stay at home parent so difficult. People will never understand, until they do it themselves. Again, thank you.

As a stay at home dad, you have get used to... Not getting invited to the "mums" meet ups. Getting looks from old folks. Mum's moving away in toddler groups, even when crowded, there'll be a 2 foot space round you. Getting patronising talk from mums when they learn what you do. Getting a wtf look from other dads who work. Getting a 'stay away from my wife look' from husbands when they find out their wife has hung out with me at the park. The comments of 'there's a stay at home dad over there for you to talk to!' from mums and grandmothers. When toddler group organisers need helpers, they ask mums but not dads. This is how it is mums. At least how ive seen it. And not in one area, but over three. Plus all other dads have backed this up. It's tough being a parent. But that's what we are, mums and dads.... PARENTS!!! If you see a parent that looks a bit lost at a toddler group, go over and say hi. It will make their day.

Henry is a beautiful example of what it means to redefine and resist traditional views of masculinity. Men can be sensitive and nurturing. Men can meet the needs of children just as well as a woman. Fathers can and should be encouraged to be stay at home parents just as much as mothers. As Henry spoke about clearing the path for future generations (“When you start to take steps, it feels like baby steps, wobbling. But then they turn into stomps. And you start making footprints for the next generation to walk in. See, we’re walking on a certain path as parents. We’re all in this together. No one can deny that family is one of the biggest foundations in anyone’s life. We’re all walking on this path and we’re pulling these thickets out of the way, and these thorns, making it easier for the ones coming after us.”) I was struck by the ways that he and other men like Henry are paving the way for a future of men who redefine what it means to be masculine.

And all kids are different and unique and what works for one person or even one kid may never work for another. But yes being present. Playing the games. Having fun. Makes all the difference.
