My experience of living with a single mother, I can only describe as... to hell and back. She found time in the beginning by palming her kids off to mummy and daddy and also the baby daddy on weekends. I was the greatest thing going 😂 then the serious psychological problems started to display themselves. A lot of what you are saying is true. Dating a single mother who is seperated and still pursuing a divorce is complicated. You are dealing with mother's prioritizing and accomodating the baby's daddy (who is making offers and concession to get back in that juice box). And, furthermore, not letting the baby's daddy know that she is a serious relationship. Another con is that the child is the stated priority over the man. One day, I got tired of the bs, after over one year of seeing her exclusively, and I notified the baby's daddy that she was no longer his juice box and that she was no longer going to be abused and taken advantaged of! If only you could have seen how flabbergasted she was over what I did, when her X husband called to tell her of the pictures that he received on FB. I determined that she feared her X husband. She is so scared of her X that she is extra nice to him. Any woman single or not who is striving to be something is going to be a busy person. It is harder for new moms and they can feel isolated. But moms who have school aged and grown kids are in a different position. I read an article on "10 things to know before dating a single mother." It was an article done by a pro womans publication. Every single thing they stated made me cringe and it was intended to help single mothers. "Know that her child comes first" "Your schedule needs to be flexible." "The father might still and always be in the childs life." Each thing the female author listed was followed by excuses or reasons why single mothers are great to date. Single best advice my oldest niece ever gave me concerning this topic "Never be with or date a girl that's been around and or has kids! Find a girl that's new and fresh!" She was a 100% correct! I consider myself lucky in that I've always been good at reading people "you know, cause of that whole empathic thing" so I've always steered clear of the girls that were easy! Ive never much cared for lust nor do i hold it in high regard! And that's all these girls ever exuded but they never realized I could read them! I advise on avoiding a single mother as well, but I have nuacnes with your assessment, mostly from my first hand experience though. 1 Most single mother's are not very intelligent, any woman who get's pregnant so young is anyway. And they usually come from poor, often unstable, lower working class backgrounds as well, though some are just unlucky with a bad start in life too. 2 Plenty of them neglect their children actually, they're too stupid and irresponsible for having the child to begin with, thus you can expect the same from them as a parent. Many are perfectly capable of putting a man first too, or at least pay him the most attention for the moment anyway, typically a ruse to reel you in. 3 Pregnancy and children have taken a toll on her body, thus lowering her sexual value to men, so the high valued males take little to no interest in her, increasing her desperation. 4 Their lives are wretched and they're usually in poverty as well, and so out of desperation, they're keen to date and find a man to provide for them. This is also a clue, they seem too interested, and too keen on you from the beginning. Truth is, they're poor and destitute, and feel very lonely, especially because of the attention they don't get, they usually can manage a household very well either. 5 Her poor decisions in the past and failed relationships are also a warning signal. You might not know the details, but something happened that resulted in the father leaving, you'll find out anyway the more time you spend around her, not that's it worth it the effort. Conclusion: Like most women, she has a use for a man in her life, just that the father has walked out, and so needs replacing. Desperation has sunk in as well, bad foundations for a relation to begin with, it doesn't matter whether she likes or even respects you (she probably doesn't), she wants you to like her actually, and from the beginning you should notice that from how hard she tries to achieve so. She seems keen and interested in you, eager to please, and of course, open for sex, and will attempt manipulation, anything to make you like and want her, at least enough for you to to be willing to replace the partner that left. Once you've been naive enough to socialise and even share a bed with her, inevitably, she'll try having your child too, just like before, in an effort to reel you in and get you to commit. However, once she feels she's succeeded, she'll start taking you for granted, and then you'll see her true nature, the relationship deteriorating. Government sides with her, she gets custody, and some money from child support, then she's back to single mother status, and the cycle repeats itself............ Lastly, as the men she is able to attach herself too are usually of low intelligent and maturitly, as the relationship turns sour, the man may begin to get frustrated, angry and resentful to her, which can also lead to abuse from either spouse, this will also leave her with certain mental, even physical scars, often affecting her later in life.

I was a single mom for most of my life because I rebelled when I was a teenager and made mistakes. However I have parents who follow old school gender roles, positive morals and values. They are my example of what a man is supposed to be and how I should act as a woman, so I got back on track. People of color in America are dysfunctional in majority. Got warped ideas about life, no morals, ethics, or values, don't follow any gender roles, Male or female acting unbecoming having a bunch of sex for with no intention without even knowing each other. I left the country with my kids at 25 to get a better view of culture because I knew early on what I was facing, and just so happen to meet my man who is black like me, he was single and successful, who could have been with any woman overseas because they love black men over there, but he chose me, and I was a young single black mom at the time. I say this because I strongly feel that relationships should be about producing a loving family whoever you may get it with. I thought I would be with a foreigner because I was done with Americans, and he definitely wasn't looking for a single mom with kids in another country but we shared the same attitude about life. I am 34 now, kids are grown and they chose to go back to the US for college which I didn't approve of because of information like this. I know you said this is only your perspective, but you need to stay away from people who don't share your same ideas, instead of comparing single men to a single women's value. Men and women are in separate categories because of their roles in life. Get out of that environment where people are full of crap. It looks as if people just don't know how to act where you go if you seen a bunch of stuff like you mentioned. I don't feel I meet most negative stereo types that you mentioned, but it still bothers me that it's out there. I am always defending, African Americans overseas because blacks in other countries view us all as untamed and wild and when I see videos like this I am ashamed at our ideas and the way we living out there. I've done it before. Never again. I will admit though, some of it was on me. I was young and not mature enough to know how to deal with it.the priority things still stands though. It's one thing to come after the child,that's understandable.but in my case everyone and everything else came before me. Nikia Harris I understand what you're saying but many guys draw the line when it comes to having children for reasons you already know. Most of us are "black and white" when it comes to this issue because the cost (figuratively and literally) of having a child is very high. What makes guys like me fired up on this is the fact that women in today's society can play bachelorette. They can have a full lineup of men to choose from yet they pick guys that leave them and never delve into his character before sleeping with them. I tell women that if you're in a relationship and want to see if a guy is there for the long haul cut out sex for some months and see if he stays. 9/10 times he won't stay if he's the decieving type. Anyways I know of guys that would be loyal and stay for the longterm but these men get no play whatsoever. They sit on bench until they're called into the game after she's in her prime. Jennifer Macdonald I think it can work but it will be super hard! First off, there’s a high possibility that the man you end up with will have kids too. Wait, you said you’re interested in a guy who has one already. You have a lot to consider. The physical relationship between you and the man. The relationship between you and your kids, the man and his kid, your kids and their dad, this man’s kid and their mom. Your relationship with this new stepchild you’re about to get. Your kids’ relationship with this new stepdad they’re about to get. The fact that both your exes will always be around because of the kids. The relationship you both have with each other. See where I’m going? There’s SOOO much to consider and so much to get ready to deal with. Let’s say you marry this man, how your kids feel about their real dad will affect how they feel about stepdad. At some point they will butt heads especially if you have sons. There will be a point where your new man has to discipline them, they usually don’t take that too well. You could easily find yourself taking sides and that’s when most men usually take off. I can’t imagine ever being in such a confusing situation but I wish you well. I sense that you’re a good, logical, sensible woman. That I believe will work in your favor ☺️ You’ll have to take great care to ensure the man and your kids feel they’re equally important. No good momma puts a man completely above her kids, no good wife puts kids completely above her husband. You’ll first have to make sure this man understands your position, he must know (and be ok with) your parenting style before getting involved with you. So let’s say you are the ‘go stand in the corner and think about what you did’ kinda parent and he’s a ‘go get the belt’ kinda dad. You guys gotta agree on how you both will parent before getting serious. After awhile sex and the honeymoon stage passes and the real issues start popping up. If you tackle them early on, you should be able to effectively date even with four kids.

Just my opinion. I don't want to offend anyone. But i believe when people try to explain the problems of dating a single mother they often compare them to women without kids which you can't do. Women without kids is on a different subject. The best way to see the issues of dating a single mom is to compare her with a mom who is still with the correct father of her children. Single mothers are often more down to earth than women without children who still think they have their whole life ahead of them which is why in my opinion its hard to compare them and show these issues. But yes, they're issues with prioritizing when dating a woman with kids from another man. She has to prioritize her kids over you. I always ask myself now what if her child was my biological child meaning I am the REAL dad of her kid VS. not being the real father. I hate to sound bias but the reality is you have more say over your OWN kids vs. another man kids. Example if I want to go on vacation with my girlfriend but she says what about the children, If they are my children I can say we will.... let me repeat this and caps (WE WILL) find a babysitter. But if they are not my kids then its a decision she has to make on her own as the kids are her sole responsibility. It will be plenty of decisions you really can't make. I know much on this, because i foster kids myself and believe me, By LAW the parents have all the say over their children, no matter if i completely disagree with their decision. This video made we want to subscribe to your site. You have an interesting perspective on this scenario. First of all, what you say (in my mind) transcends all barriers of race in this Country. I do agree that there are pitfalls when you date a single mom, most importantly is that you have to face the fact that you will always be "Number 2" behind her child and that your plans (and aspirations) will invariably be countermanded or overruled because she will always defer to the wants and needs of the child. Additionally, that also means having to deal with the mom's ex, and if she is a good mom she should encourage the kid to have a relationship with the child's dad, so you have that to contend with as well, and that could be tough if the ex wants the girl back and/or you don't like him. I once met this woman who told me after we started talking that she had three (3) kids from three (3) different men !!!!. And I was like, "And you want to talk to me" Having to deal with one child is enough (but three-sorry girl-ggkeep walking). However, there is one positive that you can have when you date a single mom...especially if you are a man who does not want to have kids of your own. If you get into a serious relationship with a single girl and they want a kid (and that is their right) and you don't want one, she has every right to dump you. However, dating the single mom can be an excellent alternative- the kid is not yours, therefore you do not have any financial responsibility for him/her, and if the single mom tries to pressure you for a kid from you, can easily rebuff that with the reply that "You already have a kid, and I am not giving you one". As the single mom has already filled that biological imperative of having a child with another man, you are now freed of that burden (and I mean burden of having to do something that you do not want to do just for the sake of preserving the relationship with that person, who will tell you to take a walk if you don't want to have a child with them)....and to me it actually gives you a lot more control over the relationship. Like I said, everything you say about single moms is very true, but if you're like me (and don't want to have children) it could have some benefits. Having a child and being a good parent is a major responsibility, and if you don't want to have a child of your own, that is your right also.

what does it mean when the girl I was seeing mother of 3 kids - telling me "You could be a good father". How come I got so damn depressed when I started dating her? I mean I was falling apart! Remember within one month as we drove to dinner with the kids she was talking to me like I went to this restaurant before with her and I said "wrong guy" she got so pissed off and start screaming at me in the parking lot... One night I was sick and needed to go home - told her this around 6pm and she would not be okay with this and started getting pissed off ( Again I became quiet ) Repeated that I just needed to go home, so she gave me an ultimatum that is I go home its over. She cried while I stood there waiting on a cab - then I told her one last time just need to go home. Then out of know where she hit me 3 times and walked off. Following that she drove me home, but halfway threatened to drop me off at some random place. Finally got home and I left the car right away, as I was done with this physically abusive women. She has the nerve to ask for a hug after all that. Never put my hands on her or yelled at her! Never called her names and gave her my kindness, but this shit wore me out! Her daughter would get defensive if I would sit near her. This women would only have sex - go out on dates on her time. Never again will I date a girl with kids.

We tend to look at how beautiful they are and how great their sex is but we become depressed and confused by all of their problems. I told her that her problems were stressing me out... She responded with "Its not your problem this is my battle" But, she would constantly talk about how horrible her life is and how she needed to pay off multiple bills and how she was going to feed her kids.. Never asked me for money, but think she knew I would help... And I did. Always remember when I wanted to take her out for lunch, just her and I, but she said I was being rude by saying "I have kids you know"...

Watch this THEN watch Corey Wayne’s video on the SAME subject. A lot of single mothers are single mothers because they made a bad choice in partnership. Don’t expect the same group of men who left you to raise your children alone to actually take you seriously as a single mother. There are men who are capable of taking on the tasks of loving you and your children. Being childless is not a guaranteed quality and having children does not make for a “fun toy.” Be patient. My father raised two children that weren’t his and waited several years before having children with my mother. It takes a special MAN to come along and see you as a WOMAN and not just a single mom. Same for women dating men with children. Not everyone is mature enough to love a person and their children.
