For the cave passage I mentioned from Hallowed Mountains to Dunley, keep in mind we're also getting a new zone with MORE BASE PLOTS!! That means there will be bases that are EVEN FURTHER away than gloomrot north from Mortium.

I think it doesn't really make sense to have Talzur in a cave. Unlike most of the other bosses, he can fly and that's what makes his fight unique. I do agree that there's a lot of unused space on the map, though. Maybe there should be some kind of merchant camp in a cave on the way up to fight him? Some reason to go back to that area of the map, again at least. I was a little disappointed I couldn't really tour Dracula's castle though, so I really like the idea of expanding on that area. 18:02 I see what you're saying about that exit not making sense, but I 've seen a lot of PvE players occupy those two locations with friendly castles. It makes it so much easier to go between the two sister castles and completely control that area. Going back and forth between a work castle and pleasure castle is super nice. Maybe that's why there's an entrance there? Just a guess.

I've got to agree with you about Talzur and a cave. There are already quite a few important bosses (non-shard bosses, but still) who reside in caves. Instead, what I'd like to see would be a mountain ascent. Imagine running up a mountain trail that spirals ever-higher towards the top, all the while dodging Chaos fire the Winged Horror rains down onto you (Similar to in Dracula's Demise). Currently, Bat Form would completely negate that, but if the devs could some how make a "No-fly-zone" that would force players onto the ground so they can wind their way up the tallest mountain in Vardoran, I think it'd be pretty cinematic.

A friend and I got to talking about this game and we both agreed that the PvE lacks a persistent threat to players. Sure, fighting bosses (or in some instances just trying to get to them) can be challenging or require multiple attempts, but you're always safe inside of your base in a PvE game, and you can (usually) engage enemies on your own terms when you do get into a fight. To that end, I think it would be cool if sometimes the PvE enemies would send out a force to attack a random plot somewhere on the map. Just a few hours before I posted this I beat a V Blood by luring her off her patrol path and straight into my base, where had turned that specific entrance into a graveyard room that was full of assorted undead from the grave plots you can build. Only about 2 undead survived her attack afterwards but it got me the kill when the last 4-5 attempt on the roadways all ended in failure.
@terribletimmy2
@terribletimmy2 Күн бұрын
Brutal mode helps a bit with the threat, but yeah some kind of attack by mobs would be cool. An idea I had for this that I thought would be cool is if there were castle plots around the map that were unclaimed by vampires that would slowly grow into a semi-POI over time. Like a tent turns into a bunch of tents turns into shacks turns into a little village until you come to clear out the NPCs. Would be really cool to have this type of dynamic growing areas.

@@terribletimmy2 And just for fun on the back-end give every use of the summoning circle a chance to boost one of these bases, or make a new recipe that directly bolsters a random NPC POI which can lead to a new boss.

I can't imagine it'd be difficult for the developers to add in some kind of "Heat" system that would run in the background. The more you terrorize populated areas of the map, the higher your Heat grows. The Higher your Heat, the more likely, and/or frequently you run the risk of having your castle targeted by PvE raids (I'd like to tentatively name PvE Raids "Sieges" to avoid confusion with PvP raids.) They could call it "Menace". Each region of the map has it's own factions, right? So each faction would have it's own "Levels of Menace". They could hide the exact values, but maybe on the map you could be given a color-coded hint to how much the people of that region fear you, and thus, want to hunt you down. (I.e. "Blissfully ignorant", "Alarmed", "On Guard", "Terrorized", "Out for Blood"). As you clear PoI's and loot stuff, your Menace would slowly increase and progress through the various tiers. Slaying Human V-Bloods, for example, could Automatically Bump up the Menace level by 1 for that area. Additionally, the Region that you create your base in could become a constant source of Menace over time, as your on-going presence becomes increasingly disturbing to the locals. This would give areas like the cursed forest and Hallowed mountains (that don't have humans) a unique advantage, as those bases would not generate the passive Menace. Menace would be reset after a Siege, whether it was successful or not, but could also decay from simply avoiding the areas for a period of time. And maybe if you defeat the Boss of the area, it could delay or halt an on-coming Siege for a time. Multiply this system across every clan/player on the server, and you have a world that suddenly feels 10 times more alive, and interesting as you run through the world watching your fellow vampires play host to a siege by one of the various factions. Finally, Combine this system with some kind of unique resource, cosmetic, or decorative blueprints unique to each faction's sieges, and you've incentivized players to go rampaging through PoI's to start trouble and earn the wrath of the desired faction and get their rewards.
@Keyce0013
@Keyce0013 12 сағат бұрын
@@ProgectG Possibly also add in a unique boss (kinda like the rat boss) that only shows up to a very high level Castle Raid. Most attacks on player structures will be large groups of the region's standard troops, but every once in a while someone's going to get something REALLY tough.

One thing to watch out for with this is pushing end-game players into low lvl zones. I think combining this idea of re-fighting bosses with something like a multi-floor POI dungeon would be a great way to implement that. Incursions already re-use bosses a bit, but I think a dedicated end-game dungeon or 2 would also be amazing
@Sayurawesome11

@terribletimmy2 ah from pvp perspective its like that, for me its more of adding something that can be found by accident in lower lvl that can be pursue and will be rewarding if you found it on early zonr. In my thought this track is randomly generated in map, it can be tracked without tool but you can get tool to find track after reaching a boss in mid game. If early lvl player follow the track and somehow this track boss fight another boss and lose it will be huge boost of resources

I really appreciate your passion for the game and the ideas you're putting out there. Personally I think that the world Stunlock has built is one of the best things about the game - all areas have very good POIs (aside from Mortium like you mentioned, it's terrible). But on the flipside, that also means that's the aspect of the game that needs the least focus in terms of dev time. Instead of bandaid fixing the map and the base layouts, for the love of god the devs should focus on improving the areas the game lacks in. The raid system is atrocious, and endgame is a barren wasteland with nothing to do. I understand that you're specifically talking about the map here, but I just want to reiterate how important it is that the devs prioritize fundamental issues rather than nice-to-haves; this could also lead to e.g. base layout problems being fixed incidentally. Many thanks for the video.
@terribletimmy2
@terribletimmy2 Күн бұрын
Oh don't worry, there's 2 more parts coming in this series, and Siege changes are certainly included in one of them. For me though, fine-tuning the map is something that is (imo) very low-hanging fruit that benefits players of EVERY playstyle, which is why I put it first. I think PvP base plot adjustments is something that could be COMPLETED in a week of focused dev time. Pick ~10 to 20 plots around the map that are easily fixed (which would take MAYBE an hour), go into unity, remove a single entrance. Done. Multi-floor POIs also open up HUGE possibilities for "dungeons" in the game, specifically for end-game content, which IMO is the biggest struggle the game currently has. But again, I agree with you and I have a video coming that focuses on gameplay changes I think would be very cool, and others I think are needed, raiding being one of them.
@hokupon8449
@hokupon8449 Күн бұрын
@@terribletimmy2 Thanks for the reply. I do agree that the base plot adjustments would take very little time - it's something the devs should have done with a minor patch over the course of the last year. I don't know if the reason they haven't is that they're not happy with the current raid system, that they don't think it's a priority, or that they really just want to stick to the once-a-year patch cycle for no good reason lol. I'm 100 % on board with dungeons. The PvE in this game is some of the best I've ever played and is what kept me and friends coming back for every single release. If the game got new "dungeons" with new bosses, especially with rewards for replaying them, that'd be basically perfect. Looking forward to hearing your ideas in parts 2 and 3!

If castle defense is basically being able to funnel enemies into choke points then yes, adding better base plots with one entrances would help with competitiveness.
@terribletimmy2
@terribletimmy2 Күн бұрын
Yep, you're correct. Generally, a base with 2 entrances means the enemy has multiple directions to attack you from. This makes defending the castle SIGNIFICANTLY harder when compared to a single entrance plot. In general however, a plot with 2 tiers will be more viable (assuming the 2nd level only has 1 entrance to it), since you're able to funnel the enemy to that single tier. Plots with 2 levels and multiple entrances on the lower level are just fine. Again, I'm ok with there being plots that are "bad" or better than others, but if you look around the map, you'll easily notice just how many plots there are with 2, 3, or even 4 entrances. Those types of plots are EXTREMELY hard to defend against competent players, unless the defenders are literal gods (in which case it wouldn't matter any way).

Raiding and overall PvP in V Rising is just bad as a whole and extremely poorly thought out and balanced. Since the map and resources and bosses stay the same every time, if you want to be competitive, you have to take the speedrun strats and the overpowered base locations immediately, or you're SoL - add to this the fact that the entire first two floors of a base will be nothing but honeycomb, you'll never actually break them. For V Rising to get any kind of competitive PvP environment, they need to completely overhaul and rework the pvp system.

But the tower has the WHITE CHERRY TREEEEEEEESS~! Clearly best tree in the game. I super agree with the boss stuff though - Having the end bosses actually be like, a whole thing to even get to in the first place would be fantastic - I mean some people might argue that's what the rest of the game is for, that's the buildup, but having an actual like raid style thing to get to them would be amazingly cool. Although on the flip side, i think that would also feel like a LOT over time, like using WoW as an example, the trash before raid bosses can become insanely tedious. but in v rising you can just run past it, so maybe it wouldn't be a big deal. I personally never pvp in games like this, but i like watching it, sop all the things you brought up with base plots seem like they make so much sense, even from a pve'r only perspective. Also having more places that rat/bat form can be used for would be amazing. There is only the rat hole. need more fun lil secrets like that. dont even say that they were added. just add them let people find them. Or be secretive in patch notes saying you added it but don't say where.

Oh I don't mean remove the trees! I just mean when you walk into the tower that it'd be cool to like... fight up a spiral staircase or something to get to the top of the tower. And yeah, the PvP/PvE base thing is a pretty big deal on the PvP side. Like the difference between a 2 entrance plot and a 1 entrance plot is absolutely enormous, and for some reason the overwhelming majority of plots on the map are 2 entrances or more. Even just minor adjustments would be a HUGE QoL improvement for PvP players

My friends and I loved V Rising when it first came out. Then Stunlock did usual Stunlock things, making grand and wild promises, showing pieces of updates - but then going radio silent on the updates for years. They finally got around to doing the updates, and they were fun for the first one or two playthroughs... but that's it. I think what kills V Rising in the multiplayer Survival genre is the complete lack of procedural generation, the lack of map diversity, and the absolutely absurd lack of PvP balance or attention. V Rising has basically just become a Vampire RP PvE game and that's it.

I do feel that boss POIs are very bland, you go in fight and then return. I know this would be a bit too much, but I think addition of a Siege mechanism to boss POIs would be nice. Currently in PVP, we already have a Siege. But what if the Siege mechanics included servants as well, like a card system, where you can carry them as cards and place them in location around the player's castle after the Golem is placed. Now add this mechanic to boss POIs too, where the final boss POIs are castles you have to siege in and once you are inside, clearing all the defences, you fight the boss. This would also make golems useful in PVE. But I know this is too much of a change and don't know how this would affect PVP.
@terribletimmy2
@terribletimmy2 Күн бұрын
I think this would be a cool thing to explore for sure. More use out of existing stuff is, imo, worth the small effort to implement. Introducing entirely new mechanics takes a bunch of effort, but using raid mechanics and siege golems in a PvE scenario really wouldn't take much to implement, while giving more unique encounters to players. Also, the only way this would affect PvP is the golem drop alerting the server to someone doing that particular poi. Would be great to make it a more end-game thing as a way to promote more PvP encounters

@@bogdanrotaru6101 PVP is a pretty complex topic in this regard though because it's difficult to just lump all PvPers together. Some people prefer the 'Full loot', hardcore, winner-takes-all experience similar to games like Rust. Others like the PVP to be more casual and 'arcade-like' in nature, where defeat doesn't set you back hours. For what it's worth, I think the introduction of a Dueling system that the devs mentioned in one of their latest dev-blogs is a great step in that direction. Some people like the durability system because it serves as a Soft Limiter to how often a player can attack you. If you defeat a player over and over, their armor will break, and they are forced to leave you alone while they go repair. This can be great for Anti-griefing (assuming you can defeat them at all of course) but it certainly serves as a significant deterrent for players who are trying to learn without hours of set-backs.
