Haven't seen some for 2.5 years other than video calls 😂 Also I heard a tip for understanding Fahrenheit is to just think of it like a percentage bar of heat (where 0 ofc is really cold and 100 being hot)

Great video and perspective. I’m actually Filipino-American and went to a California State university(Cal Poly). There’s a lot of international students at my university even when I was there. It seems through the years the California schools has gotten very popular with both domestic and international students and so many people apply each year . A big factor, weather is nicer than the East Coast , not to mention a lot of top tech companies are headquartered in California and they recruit at a lot of the schools here. Plus in CA there’s no shortage of Filipino food , lots of Jolibees, Max’s, Chow Kings, so a lot feel at home :) Good luck with your studies at Cornell!

ok as a filipina american i have a lot of issues when older ppl want me to call them by their first name. usually with professors i call them professor too and with older adults i still call them auntie and uncle even if they arent Filipino and usually they're accommodating because culturally that's how i (we) show respect. im also from the bay area and there's a lot of different cultures and specifically Filipinos. i intern with a predominately Filipino staff and it was so hard for me to not call them kuya or ate?? LOL luckily they understood and one of them sees me as their like younger sister so i call him kuya in general now lol

9:39 In spanish we have the pronouns "usted" (very formal, to show respect, usually for teachers and older people, like grandparents) and "tú" (very casual, the one you would use with your friends, siblings or even with your parents). So, I struggle with choosing the rigth pronoun when I first meet someone and usually go for your technique of "just make eye contac and start the sentence without a pronoun". I am very glad english just has "You".

If you got measured in cm and are converting over, 178 cm is 5-10. 5-9 1/2 would be ~176.5 cm. For your friends' parents, Mr./Ms/Mrs. Last Name is always safe although it's a little formal. If they say "please, call me X" go ahead and do that. You can use "Sir" or "Ma'am" if it's an older adult you want to show respect to and don't know their name at all.

The whole swapping things out of ur closet is a northern US thing I live in the south US (Louisiana) and we pretty much wear the same thing all year aside from like 1 or 2 months of like usually no lower than 60-40 degrees F and the adult name thing u should say “Mr.(insert last name) for men” and “Ms./Mrs.(insert last name) for women” and if they do tell you to call them by their first name just do it because they are doing that so you feel comfortable with them and by not doing it you will give them the idea that you Aren’t comfortable with them and I’m from the south and we are usually very polite down here so I would know
