Just watched your thinkmaster tutorial on how to edit and post a KZbin video which referenced this video!! Really cool to see it put together. Your content in this video is nice too!! I wish I had the knowledge to do this 2/3 years ago when covid hit and my 16 yr old at the time fell through the cracks in the middle of 9th grade solely being on the chromebook! Things might have been different if homeschooling them.

Hi Heather! GREAT video! I found this video watching the Think Media video for how to make videos on your phone. I just started my channel back up and am really working hard to do it right. Not only was that video a great video and I learned a ton but so was this video! I love your quick summary of what your channel is about. It makes it easy to decide if you want to subscribe (which I did). You share how learning happens from just daily life and I AGREE so much! The journey of homeschooling our kids while we travel is what we love doing! This video came at the perfect time because I just published my own video about how my kids Quit school so we could homeschool and unschool them. I seriously published the video like 2 hours ago and then happened upon this video and not because it was recommended to me but because I was educating myself! So thank you for your wonderful insight, your knowledge, and your channel!

Thanks for this Heather. What I wish I knew - How lonely homeschool moms can be. Even if you have many friends they may never understand your homeschooling life and that is hard, especially if you don't live near other homeschooling families.

I love this video. Thank you so much for your honesty. 👍🏿 You are helping me to think outside of the box when it comes to homeschooling as a newbie. It’s funny because I was just thinking that I needed a “traditional classroom” space for my home. I’m scratching that idea and going for a more relaxed setting and approach.

I’d love to see a video on all the ways you make homeschool FUN and encourage that love of learning! We just started our first year and I quickly learned that while some book work was necessary I just didn’t have enough fun learning planned and my daughter wasn’t enjoying it the way I knew was possible, so we changed a lot. Would love to hear some ideas on that!

This is my second year homeschooling. All of these tips are spot on for what a brand new homeschooling parent goes through. Great reminders for me as well! The biggest struggle for me is comparing their education to what it would be like in public school and feeling like I'm not enough.

Heather. Thank you for the video. Your points are spot on and a great video to share. As a family that has a mama that is a k-12 homeschool graduate and has been homeschooling our kids for 6 years so far, we get lots of questions. I will be recommending your video. We are just starting out on KZbin and we address what we do in homeschool, as well what we do as a family.

Hey Heather!!! I found you through the new think media podcast and I just thought it was so cool to hear from a fellow homeschool mom you tuber. I am a second generation homeschooler and I 100% agree with these tips especially the fact that we can do it simply and we don’t need all the gadgets and fancy curriculums. It’s encouraging to hear from other moms who know what we are going through. Can’t wait to check out more if your videos.

My question is how to motivate your child on a daily basis? How to find balance between play and working the curriculum. Especially with young ones. I have a first grader who went to a charter public kinder. We’re a week and a half into the school year. We have curriculum for phonics and reading and also with math. I do both mon-fri. It takes about 20 minutes for each one. So I don’t feel like I’m being excessive but I really like the Charlotte mason approach of learning and have been trying to incorporate that in our day. My daughter likes workbooks but on her terms. I don’t want to be so workbook focused or rigid about it and make her hate it. Ok so I have a lot of questions 🤦♀️ I’m a total newbie.

I came here because of “think media” but it so happens that I am sorta new to the homeschooling world as well. We do it through a Charter in California and the “Homeschool Teacher” assigned to my family opened up my eyes to something you talked about in this video. That was to expect that our homeschool environment was NOT gonna look like traditional school. Through homeschooling we are really preparing them to love to learn and I always say to my kids; “the world is your school”. I’ve officially homeschooled my daughter TK and K and this year she is starting First Grade. My son is going to be 3 and , just like my with my daughter, in the past, I’m already teaching him letters, numbers, etc. Oh and how I love the freedom. Last year I “took our school” with us in a plane and went on a 2 month long trip to Brazil (visiting family) and my 6 year old came back speaking Portuguese with confidence!!! In sum... I support all the points you made and I am loving this journey of Homeschooling.

I live in america and I am a first time mom. My son is 2 and I'm already thinking of schooling options! There is so much information out there and I don't want to wait until it's a few months before he starts school to figure out what schooling I want for us. I have never met anyone who home schools. No one in my family or my husbands family has ever home schooled and we have both grown up in public school. But my heart strings are being pulled to home school. I just want more for my son. To me the most important education is the education of the soul, the heart and cultivating kind children who are filled with peace of heart and mind. I loved all your reasons for gome schooling especially the freedoms that come with it. I'm sure maybe every state is different in the guidelines for home schooling. So I would definitely have to look up the guidelines for nyc. I hope to home school journey continues to work out for your family. I think it would be such an amazing journey!

Love this video. There were times I felt bad because I didn't have everything to homeschool our two kids. Like literally I just did some renovations to the kids toys yesterday and made it out of a class room. But I didn't have to spend a whole lot. Just the setting of a classroom my daughter loves it! And now she is more eager to learn 😊. So I'm glad I came across your video. Let me ask you a question. Did you had to still enrolled them to your state requirements to homeschool or did you went off the grid and just homeschool them? Because in the state of NC I still have to answer to them for a list of things and I think it's still like enrolling them into a public school.

Why would toy cover every subject every day though? School doesn’t even do that Point 4, you learned stuff outside of school didn’t you, both when you were young and after finishing didn’t you? When you think of that way you see that people do learn outside of a classroom, school and books Have toy heard of unschooling? Some of what you’re doing/saying overlaps with that
