As A Chelsea fan I genuinely feel sympathy at how much that slip affected him. Liverpool should have won the league that season but it wasn't just down to the slip. Great player and the fact he was loyal to his club speaks volumes.

Liverpool dropped points earlier in the season that no-one mentions now. They lost at home to Villa and Stoke and away to City and Chelsea in the first half of the season.

Our inability to defend cost us the title that season. As good as Suarez, Sturridge, Sterling, Coutinho, Gerrard and even Skrtel were in an attacking sense, winning games 6-3, 4-3 etc on a consistent basis was always gonna catch up to us eventually

My gut wrenches every time I hear Stevie talk about that Chelsea game in 13/14. It just feels so bad knowing how much responsibility he takes for that game. In my eyes though, it was always a tactical mistake by Brendan deciding to play that offensively in a game we realistically could have drawn and still win the league. Mourinho never looked to win that game, Chelsea seemed to be very happy with a draw. Anyway the greatest Liverpool player of all time and certainly one of the best midfielders the game has ever seen.
@jeffjeffjeff2
@jeffjeffjeff2 3 жыл бұрын
Exactly. It wasn't done to one performance by any of the players. Tactically we were naive and thought we could blow any team away. The better teams & managers can expose this naivety. No need for Gerrard to shoulder any of the blame...that burden lies with the manager and his team.

I remember when my lad was at the Liverpool academy telling me the fight in the changing room to get the No.8 shirt. Probably the most complete player ever. Bryan Robson is also up there imo.

Really enjoyed this. I love certain shirts for how they look. The yellow away shirt, the gold an blue treble winning one. So proud to have a crown paints one with the liverbirds in it. The black and silver goalkeeper shirt i really loved. My candy home shirt is 30 years old and fukked but holds memories as it was my 1st. Gerrard is comfortable here as he looks at the interviewer (who is brilliant by the way) which he never really did when interviewed on motd.

Absolute gutted about how Rangers lost the final this week to Celtic. Gerrard's tactics had us playing them off the park in every department. Done so against teams in Europe too like Porto as example. Despite no trophies yet, he's only getting praise up here. The fans love him and he's given this club so much to cheer about lately. He's put Ranger;s back challenging for big trophies again. But like I say, the results and performances in Europe and big games. Gerrard really has his tactics spot on 9/10 times. I will be gutted when he leaves Rangers but I feel he'll be an excellent manager for Liverpool in the future. Players love working with him and he gets the best out of them. Not to mention that he gives great and honest interviews.
