Same, I don't usually make eye contact because of social anxiety but I try to at least once when meeting someone and also try to smile and like you said be engaged/invested in the conversation simply because it's the polite thing to do. And hearing things like this always makes me wonder what other people think when I do this. I also learned that when you tell a girl "I love you're outfit" a lot of girls (especially bisexuals/lesbians/etc) tend to mean it in a flirty way and it made me wonder how many girls thought I was flirting with them just because I genuinely loved their outfit 😂 like, I always try to compliment someone if I see something I like cause everyone deserves a nice comment and it's just a nice thing to do so I'm always bewildered when someone says they flirt like that.
