Yes, unlike Berserk which the IP owners had to scramble to find a new writer to continue the story (of which I will not be reading until there's a few chapters out so I can see if the new guy can polish up to a good quality of work after a few chapters) Dragonball had its successor in Toyotarou established well in advance. We already know he can handle it and we know what he needs to improve on. That being his goofiness needs to go up a bit as he has the serious aspects of the show down, but needed Toriyama's guidance when adding silly dialogue and silly slice of life moments. We are lucky enough to have been ready to move forward without Toriyama though of course we all hoped it would be from his retirement not his passing..

The Android saga was intense as a kid, but as an adult, it was too short. It bugged me years later how we didn’t get more time with Dr. Gero. He should have played a bigger part, even if behind the scenes. This what if was so good as a build up.

The sad part is 19 & 20 would've been devastating after absorbing all that energy from the Z fighters. Gohan genuinely would've been stuck with a war of attrition against them and actually had *some* hope... until they just absorbed a whole town again or Gero built a reactor. It would've further sold just how much of a threat 17 & 18 would've been because one of them effortlessly crushed 20, someone we already know is powerful

I’ve always wondered about this exact scenario. Toriyama’s editor influenced a lot of the Android saga and if not for him we wouldn’t have 17, 18, or possibly even Cell. It make you ask questions like: how would Gero and 19 be as characters if they were the main threat

I would have liked to see an arc where instead of inexplicable teenage cyborgs, you had androids with special abilities that made them a threat to superior fighters. As it is now, it's hard to watch the Frieza saga, and take the guy seriously, knowing there are two children on Earth who would take him apart, if they were let out and told to fight him. An arc where Super Saiyan doesn't guarantee victory, because the enemy can absorb energy, and possibly do other strange things, would be more interesting than what we got. A girl who spent who knows how long in a pod, outfighting a trained warrior, and a bug man whose fight with Gohan isn't even really a fight.

I've always enjoyed Android 19 and 20's design. I thought they were super weird and such a stark contrast from Freeza, and that made them interesting to me. We learned the hard-way from Freeze about judging a book by its cover, so why should it be any different for these new foes? I also thought it could've been interesting if 16, 17, and 18 did stick around, BUT 20 was still alive and in charge thanks to his energy-draining hands. Kinda like when they introduced Freeza very early on, but while he stayed intimidating, Android 20 became more and more intimidating the longer he was around. Kinda like Spot from Marvel.

Although I prefer what we got in the regular story I'm curious on how this idea will be tackled since the original concept for this story was 19 & 20 were the villains for this story, and Gohan taking Goku's place. 🤔 It's pretty cool getting an insight of Dr. Gero when making the Androids and reason why his brain were put inside of 20. 👍 The only thing I'm hoping for is 16 still been made maybe with a reassigned number of 21, and he is from the other Future Timeline like Cell was. 🙂 Anyways another really good start to this possible new series, and looking forward to the next part soon.

I still will always find it funny that, Trunks didn't need to tell goku who his parents were. He could have just said "i'm a sayain from the future, androids are coming in 2 years, here's a heart medicine for a virus you're going to get. I'll see you in 2 years" and leave it at that. It worked out in the end because Piccolo and Goku didn't say anything about it to anyone in the group but man you're risking a bit too much for something you could have explained without that info

This is a wonderful start. One thing that's always puzzled me was why Future Trunks never told the Dragon Team what the androids/cyborgs looked like on his first visit. We know why outside of the story, but a good time traveler would've given a better head's up such as descriptions of the villains (clothing, hair, age, etc).

Even though he's no longer with us, I still fully respect and would support Toriyama's Original Vision for the Android Saga for what it could've been if it wasn't for his Editors that Intervene, But honestly though, I'm actually glad that the Editors had Intervene into the Development Cycle of the Android Saga, if it weren't for them, we wouldn't have gotten fan favorite Characters like Androids 17, 18 and even the Saga's most Iconic Main Villain named Cell.
