This is great. You didn't just simply create an entirely new story, you managed to keep much of the original ideas intact, set pieces, relationships, characters, etc. It's more or less the same story, but told differently that flows better with a bit more depth. Also, Wonderful 101!

Even if this pair of videos weren't so very insightful and articulate, they'd be insanely entertaining. That storm of pop culture references - like a pictorial language that almost delivered the gist of your story by itself, and drove it home. I wouldn't really say I've got superhero fatigue yet, even in 2017, but I've been kind of disappointed in a few Marvel movies. Age of Ultron might have been the first. It didn't seem to have much beyond twirling fight scenes and moody people striking poses. Ultron's motivation... well, I can't really remember what Ultron's motivation was. I think I was trying too hard to ignore the fact that it was James Spader delivering Joss Whedon's lines. Your motivation for him is much more compelling, and in itself and as part of a whole story, much more coherent.

Lots of good ideas here. I specifically loved your take on Thor. -_- But seriously, you have a way of looking past the superficial and seeing the actual heart of a story that I've never seen before or since. Your videos taught me more about storytelling than 4 semesters of comparative literature and I'll watch/read/listen to/consume everything you ever make if I can find it. I promise.

I don't know about the giant child. I like that's he not the typical villain, and can be actually fun if you play him right. Otoh, there's something to be said for the anti-stark AOU had going. They could have gone further with it. I like the planning/training scene! I like the freaking out over fucking teenagers being on their level. As for Ultrons plan? Hmm. "Tony but not" got played out in iron man 3. Visions entrance needs to be really good btw to stop it from being cliche; so double down on Ultron having a son! Go for a full on Lion King "everything on the horizon is your kingdom", except with insanely smart robot gods. Between the time Ultron creates him and the Avengers show up, Vision should be in his rebellious teenager phase; great comedy, lets him connect with the twins and allows the avengers a way to deal with him. I wouldn't have him join their side immediately though; instead he turns the twins onto his side and they all fuck off for a bit. Ok, back to the plan: i think you need to think less about AI abilites (though they're obviously used) and more about being genuinely clever. For a minute in Civil War, i thought this guys plan is smart, and if i think that about Zemo Ultron should be a different kettle of fish. We've all seen evil AI, we'll all be expecting their tricks. Come out of left field, somehow. If he has a robot army, it should be... a parody of the avengers and not in the supervillain way. Robots covered in smiley faces and peace signs for hulk to smash, extremely american robots for cap to fight and so on. If Ultron's childish make us notice. If tony's ego is important (as always) have him call the avengers once he's tried and failed to handle ultron himself. It will give their relationship that much more of a personal touch, but make it snappy.

God i love these two videos and i love your channel. Your editing, humor, use of music, old and new pop-culture context and references, musical segments and thoughtful ideas and themes and making all of these factors to work, entertain and complement each other in one of the most articulate, well-structured and passionate rewrites i seen in the superhero genre. You have become one of my absolute favourites in youtube very freaking quickly man. And your ending reminded me that i need a toilet right now or else i'm gonna explode. Believe me, you inspire a lot ;)

9:12 Postman Pat-terminators?????? The first video I didn`t really care for, but this second vid has good stuff. This pair of vids is/would be a good first draft for a story. (No pressure to make it of course.) I for example like how off-the -walls the everyone vs. Ultron sequences are, and Avengers using outdated tech. Btw the Weird science- and Little girls-music videos were great.

Wow, just wow, great idea, great take so far Gotta admit that your take not only makes everything deeper and far more interesting in the long run, but starts setting up things nicely for the follow up (If you'd want to go with Civil War so early in the game, never understood why they would, but whatever), it seems definetly like a story that flows together much better than what we got at the very least, not to mention everyone has something to add to it, its a movie about a team after all

That does sound interesting. I would like to see it. Still think they should have not done DARK KNIGHT RISES and just wait for 2016 for Nolan to adapt Frank Miller's DARK KNIGHT RETURNS to bring that already established Batman into the DCEU.

@L3monsta8 жыл бұрын
B- Mask Yeah, it wasn't half the movie it should have been
@BMask8 жыл бұрын
The Marvel bias thing really ignores the huge amount of DC fans who hate the movie. A lot of the general public who don't care about this stuff will openly go and experience both, and their online presence won't be as great. People who give a shit about DC specifically though? Way more vocal. Luckily they kill Marvel in the animation deparment at the moment so there is some balance.
@dragonphoreal8 жыл бұрын
B- Mask As for animation, DC gives us animated movies for their comic book characters that actually feel like they compliment the material, while MARVEL Animation just gives us toy-commercials. Just look at the 'Hulk and Iron Man' and 'Captain America and Iron Man' direct to DVD movies and their animated slate on Disney channel. Like I literally think AVENGERS: Earth Mightiest Heroes was only cancelled just to make way for another Avengers cartoon to market the MCU, even though they were practically doing that with poor Spidey (but hey that is what happens when you let the "geniuses" who gave us Ben 10 make a Spiderman cartoon; they are going to do a Mega man series, can't wait to see how disastrous that becomes). What do you think? Why does MARVEL suck at animation?

I did Like the age of ultron movie. how ever.. this ... this story i think its amazing I can not compare it to the comic book counter part as I have not read it. but taking my understanding of the characters in the movie universe I think this story would of been incredible to see and honestly to my self it makes the movie feel a little pale in comparison. I would love to see some kind of media portraying this story, a what if comic would be amazing. how ever I know that is rather unlikely. ♥

I really wish, I had what it took to make this video. I'm sure you've wondered "what's the point of making this, I'm just a random dude with an opinion", but I envy you. You put a lot of work into something, an effort to show the world your ideas. There are so many things I want to say, but I haven't the ambition to go and say them. To learn to edit, to write, to present something in a way that at the very least, earns the right to be called entertainment. Not shouting into the void, but making something that someone _could_ enjoy viewing, whilst also expressing yourself. I envy you, and I hope someday I can manage to achieve what you did, with this video.

@@Clouddancer44 Thank you so much for the very inspired answer. Yes, I have considered writing, just never attempted it. I'm an avid reader, so writing feels like a natural extension. I may just follow through on that instinct. I'm going to copy-paste your comment onto my ever-open Windows "Notepad" called "temp.txt" It's *the* place I put things, and functions like something halfway between a journal and a planner. I don't make consistent updates, but random thoughts go there. I've considered tackling writing for a long time, and it means a lot to get encouraged in a any way. Thanks

This was amazing. Almost as good as the "What if the prequels were good" rewrites, probably better actually. Why do people get at those who criticize differences from the source material? Isn't that the point, that the movie needs to understand the source material and apply it instead of changing things for the sake of changing them?
@BMask8 жыл бұрын
+Brandon Dozier High praise indeed! Thanks a bunch =) I think sometimes it's an easy catch all thing to go 'well you're just too much of a fanboy so you can't see how this works as a film.' Sometimes they argue that it wouldn't be realistic enough, and then the creators make it so that Doctor doom GROWS his armour (as opposed to applying it normally like in the Jack Kirby comic 70 years or so prior?) All fans want is the general feeling to be there, the general sense of inspiration they got when they first read those comics, and it's always been hard for them to vocalise that. I'm very sure that they believe that, if you also got to experience that, then you might like it even more if you do so already, and everybody can benefit. But transferring that feeling to someone else in a debate is just impossible, the other person has no frame of reference to agree with them on . I'd like to see the way that discussion unfolds change.
