Actually, DBS anime implied that the absorbtion is temporary and the SSG absorbed SS1 that Goku used is basically untrained SSB. That's why Goku taken aback by some DBS characters that should be DBZ level, like the Trio of Danger (excluding Bergamo). The Saiyan beyond God state was already retconned out in DBS, replace with the return of SSG.

But also argue that unlike the Potara, which seem to have safety measures to break the fusion, like breaking them in SUPER, if they fuse their souls with using the dance then die, that could glitch them into permanently keeping them stuck that way. As their souls are now indiscriminate from each other. I don't know, obviously, but now I wish I could experiment with the idea.
