In a few days, a new school year is starting, meaning that I'll be unavailable from 9:30 PM to 5 PM the next day, as I have to focus on school, mainly learning how to cook. This is an interesting dinamic. Greece or any power based on the Mediterranean can only be outwardly conservative, since the economic, demographic and geographic realities force anyone holding Greece to be a maritime power IF you want to have a successful economy. So you would have both a Thalassocracy and an Telurocracy. This Rome can't afford itself to be so extremely centrally controlled or it would lose its edge.

As a person of orthodox faith, who has a deep appreciation for both Roman and Byzantine history, I would say that this Byzantine Empire is (most likely) dommed to collapse from both imternal and external forces within a maximum of 2 generations. It's forme of government and society can only be compared to something out of the Middle Ages. If the populas is , as you portray in the scenario, completely indoctrenated, then the nobles who would want to have real power in the system rather than subservient to the Basileu would use the first opportunity to overthrow him. On the outside, it only gets worse . I hilly doubt that any muslim ruler would want to ally with them, as they would look blasfemous to even the most secular muslim. You already stated that they committed genocide against the Egyptians and Turks, but are we just gonna forget that the Al Aqsa Mosque is located in Israel, which would see havy fighting and a genocide, with the way they treated there non Christian subjects it's almost garanted that a 9/11 style attack would happen on an almost yearly basis. Not to manshion America, who would try to bring their dimaise at every step of the way, with Bizantiums allys only being a bunch of B tier european countries who would be collapsing internaly. The US also had many powerful Jewish Lobbiests before Israel even existed. But abouve all it's biggest problem would be the internet, with the modern day quickly approaching thouse who the system kept down would be able to easily organise. Despite what many teenagers in the comments say, this is not some perfect country, but is compareble to late stage Apartheid South Africa or Lonsion regime era France. The country is most likely on the edge of a civil war(sorry for being so long I just had a lot to say, as I've been paishently waiting for part 3).

The point is just that they identify as Arab and as such would have been ethnically cleansed. I like your scenario, but I definitely don't believe in a few things. 1. The Copts could hardly be more than 20% - that's the upper limit. And it's hard for me to imagine what kind of persecution of Muslims and Arabs would have to be in Egypt for Egypt to accept the Pharaonic-Orthodox identity. I would rather believe that the share of Copts began to grow and they began to occupy a leading place in the new political system, but a 3.5% increase over 20-50 years is too much. Even taking into account the awesome demographics and childbirth. 2. I very much doubt that the Byzantines would not have made some kind of autonomy for the Jews in Palestine. Jerusalem is important as a religious center, but in the 20th century, it is unlikely that the Romans themselves are so religious that they would prefer to rule this city, rather than transfer it to the Jewish autonomy in exchange for the placement of military bases and other things. But even if the Jews had started an underground struggle against Byzantium, I don't think they would have committed such a terrible genocide. 3. Although the national question is very important, we will still have from 10 to 30-40 million Turks in Anatolia. I can hardly imagine how this problem could have been solved even taking into account a more united and strong Greek-Russian-Armenian-Kurdish diaspora (let's not forget that the Kurds are Muslims). 4. It is strange that the USSR did not use nuclear weapons in the war with the Romans. The threat of the collapse of the political regime would have certainly pushed the Kremlin to do something like that.

1. sorry, i try to kinda dance around the fact that they decimate the arab population. I cant really mention specifics in a yt video cause ti would get demonetized, but its supposed to be kinda like israel, where the "remove" the larger group and replace them 2. israel stuff is discussed in part 1. The church has a ton of power here, as Christianity is the main requisite for citizenship. Also, not many jews migrated to Palestine. 3. there are only like 8-12 million turks left in Antolia by this point due to WW1, WW2. Many left. 4. I probably didnt word it the best, but the Soviets collapse for the most part, and the Byzantines spend like 9 months fighting Soviets, Russians, Ukranians, and Belarussians in order to reinstate the Romanovs. Looking back on it, that wasnt really conveyed at all. 2 inaccuracies in the beginning: the civil war was not really a proxy war. It was agreed upon in Yalta already and later in Potsdam that Greece was to be in the western zone so Stalin didn’t risk war over us, so the revolutionaries were on their own. Also, you show Yugoslavia as a Soviet puppet, while it was very much an independent nation opposed to the Soviet Union, especially in the Stalinist days, but remained a neutral Cold War party throughout it’s duration, like Austria
