Honestly? Something I don't think was mentioned... In this continuity, where Cell still brought the camera crews, and Chi-Chi kept Mr. Satan from stepping into the ring at all, and without the huge power flare-ups that broke the transmission equipment? That means that the entire world saw Goku and Chi-Chi defeat Cell. THEY are the world saviors now, and it'd be something interesting to cover considering how much Chi-Chi wanted to get OUT of the fighting limelight.

One little thing I didn't like about this was that Cell was painted to only rely on Magic, it feels like it was kinda forced for Cell to lose this way because he could do a giant barrier like how he did against Goku in their fight and the only 2 warriors able to at least put up a tiny bit of a challenge would be Goku and Gohan.

It isn't so much that he relied on magic as it was that it was a critical part of his repertoire; because the magic was there, his ki didn't need to grow as much. On the surface, it looks like Chi Chi just turned off a skill, but when you look deeper, it's more akin to she cut off one of his arms. When you put two fighters of equal skill against each other, the one who just lost a limb is going to lose the fight.

@@PhycoKrusk It's also probable that say, Piccolo here is stronger than originally, since he has Kaioken, making him more able to outright hurt a Cell who, while still powerful, just didn't have a chance to, above all, *adapt* to this, or find a way around it. It would be one thing if he'd had days, weeks to adapt to this, and he failed at doing so, it's another if he had all of 30 seconds, five or so minutes of trying to survive, while they ganged up on him. Panic can, above all, destroy reason.

No it's more that it was just something that was so natural to him that when it was taken away he felt weird and didn't have enough time to readjust himself to not having it. It's essentially like taking someone's ability to hear or speak away.

Oh Cell may have gain the magical powers to whoop ass, but he lack the mental research that magic prevails at. Its a force that relies on wisdom and cunning, which he does have except the sayian genetics focus more towards the physical aspect than supportive parts. Love Cell's reaction towards falling for her trap. Now though I can imagine the rest of the tale would be more or less canon path except potato man being more aware of Chi Chi's magical powers to be somewhat cautious.

I don't have a good feeling about the Buu saga in this What If. Without Gohan gaining SSJ2 here, that might make Goku and Vegeta think that SSJ1 is in fact the highest power they can reach, influencing their training. Not only that, Goku is alive, so he will probably never unlock SSJ3. And without any saiyan reaching even SSJ2, yeah, Daburah is gonna be something, not to talk about Buu himself.

Nah they knew there was a form beyond Ssj 1 they at the time couldn't achieve it cause they knew (as trunks proved) using it incorrectly just makes you too slow to do anything

Yeah but then again, the entire reason why Buu was awakened was BECAUSE of Super Saiyan 2. Even if everyone is slightly stronger, they're missing out on a huge 2x multiplier for their maximum meaning Buu will need more energy to be reborn. And considering Goku is still alive Vegeta wouldn't have his Majin phase. Dabura might actually be an issue since he was as strong as Cell, but Super Saiyan Goku was on par with Perfect Cell in the original so a 7 year time skip would mean he far surpasses him even without Super Saiyan 2. Chi Chi also uses magic so she might find a way to counter Dabura's stone spit or if Babidi tried to control her she might be able to resist it. Because of all this, I have a GREAT feeling about the Buu saga. Should be interesting to hear how Masako will have it play out.

@@ChizeSOI i meaaaan in the trunks timeline, dabura and babibidi were already looking for energy to unlock Buu (which thankfully Trunks stopped). they don't necessarily need ssj2. just 2 strong and powerful super saiyans (remember it was stated that Gohan got weak in the Buu arc for his lack of training, so his ssj2 was weak and the minions have already been collecting energy, Gohan ssj2 being the catalyst).

One thing that was on my mind the whole time I was watching this was didn't Chi Chi learn the Kaioken? Would that have had any effect on her magic? Could she have used her magic to power the boost the technique gives her, effectively allowing her to use a much bigger boost and for much longer? On the aftermath though, I can see Chi Chi's regained confidence simply telling her that it is time to retire once again. How that would lead to her being part of the team again after the 7 year skip will be interesting though. Maybe Babidi catches her unawares? Maijin Chi Chi anyone?

It's more to do with capitalising on the fact that Cell overrelied on his magic so much, that it meant he was more rusty in simple fighting skills. Not to mention the surprise and arrogance would've been his undoing. His Vegeta showing and whatnot. Also, it makes for a cool visual!

Wow this was phenomenal I love how you aren't afraid to make Chi Chi modest but still give her the win, I do find it cool how you expressed magic I had other ideas for it and how it connected with super saiyan. I love this what if I always wanted to see Chi Chi and Goten used properly and you did it right here while I understand if you choose to end it in the next episode I do wish for it to continue like R&R or revalation F it is a good enough of a story to have a continuous line and having Chi Chi and Vegeta grow to be friends (very slowly) over the time skip and how majin Vegeta makes a play would be so interesting to see.

Part of me kinda hopes she taps into god ki during the Buu Saga before anybody else does. Maybe without knowing fully what it is because she’s taking more of a magical route. Ooh, maybe even a sneak peak of Ultra Instinct Omen/Sign. Alternatively, I could see her anti-magic thing being a bit OP against Babidi and maybe even Buu.

I... don't see that happening, what with god ki requiring you to either undergo a ritual or be tossed into a dimension full of it. Also, Ultra Instinct required the man who did nothing but train his whole life to still meet and train against an angel who already had it. I dig this new form of Chi-Chi, but her randomly gaining advantages and powers for no reason is why people hated Rey from the Star Wars sequel trilogy.

@@xXSCDTXx Nothing random about Saiyan God or Golden Freeza. Ultra Instinct is only random in how it's initially triggered; the form itself was built up since the Resurrection F arc. Really, the only asspulls not involving the Universe 6 Saiyans (whose gimmick, instead of Zenkai boosts, seems to be "Anything you can learn, I can learn faster") were Super Saiyan Blue and the power-ups from the Future Trunks arc. And even if I agreed with you, that wouldn't make the storytelling good, just consistent.

"What if" Cell is often different based on the circumstances leading up to the cell saga. Makes me wonder if some What Ifs could rearrange the Saga orders. Cell saga can be earlier or later easily because cell scales with whatever the current dragon team is, and it's got time travel involved. I suppose a post-Buu Cell Saga gets into a bit of DBFZ territory. Early Buu saga is easy enough since Fusions like Post-Namek Gogeta would be more then enough for Fat Buu and probably Super Buu too, and you can always utilize time travel (trunks or whoever comes to warn people about Majin Buu instead) and later Buu Saga is also possible because Babidi would have to wait longer if sufficient ki sources weren't around and he'd be fine with waiting a few years because of the scale of his plan - but a Buu saga after God ki is introduced would also lead to a more powerful Majin Buu. Frieza probably can't be done earlier, but it could happen later easily since Frieza could train for 14 minutes to be at whatever strength is needed and it would be pretty reasonable for him to not run into the dragon team as early if they didn't have a reason to.

I wonder what dragonball would be like if every major conflict and character was exactly as it was in the original series only there were no stakes beyond bragging rights and the shame of defeat... So freezer served planet vegita so the saiyans just won't show their face to the rest of the universe out of shame... Freezer and cold go into seclusion having talked a big game only to loose twice in a row... Cell earns major bragging rights by busting a move on the z fighters and the androids who, out of embarrassment refuse to show their faces untill cell is beaten. Cell threatens to call the earthlings a bunch of chumps if he wins his tournament... etc...

I do think that she's regained her confidence, but I also think that it'll be in a way that recognizes that her role as a front-liner may have... run its course, per se. Like, she'll know that Cell was likely the last threat she'd be able to have a major impact on, and so she shifts to focusing on training others. Maybe she opens a school for teaching those who choose to pursue a more magical gift, instead of purely power. Maybe (as another commenter threw out) she ends up teaching a certain Champion's daughter.

This kind of feels a bit anti climactic, No super saiyan 2 gohan, No satysfyin 1v1. Honestly I think the character balance even for a what if focusing on chi chi is a bit too tilted. But hey most people do seem to be enjoying themselves

Not to say it was bad or anything, but I was hoping that cell would last longer in the story and that he would put up more of a fight, he just didn’t feel the same here, like he was that big of a threat.

I enjoy this story for the most part, as I am a bit surprised of what happens to come to such conclusions and what events you cause. Even the creative approaches you take work good as well, such as the raging bull. My problem is that I feel we are putting the rest of the cast on the back burner. There were moments where they had moments to shine, but it feels like it has to be with Chi-chi. Is there anything that changes their stories based on this story difference? Would 16 be able to fight Goku for example? I do imagine some moments from canon still happening, but it does make things a bit more interesting. I was hoping when Goku and Gohen took their time in the Chamber that would be for Goku to be able to realize Gohan anger, but I guess Gohan is different. Overall the story isn’t bad and I’ll still tune in, but I feel like it’s missing something. Sorry if I’m expecting too much. Good luck with your future tho!

Yeah this was basically my same feeling with this what if but specially with this part which based on how the story is told (rushing it to end it in 1 month) makes it feel like Chi-Chi is definitely the main character and how Cell was defeated a little too easy for my taste. It still a good what if, i really like the beginning.

Nice Future Goten was able to move on now there need to be closure with the Future Son Family in the Future Timeline (Since it seem Future Gohan is alive here.). I don't know. This ending feels off to me with Chi-Chi disrupting Cell's Magic, and everybody taking out Cell I mean I get it getting caught off guard, but still feels off. With Goku alive here I'm hoping this means Gohan is keeping up with his training here since his father there, and hoping Gohan get the Ultimate Form to combine with his Magic. Anyways another really good part, and looking forward to the next part soon.

Here we go, this was fun, Chi-Chi has had a good ride. But MasakoX can I give a suggestion? If Chi-Chi does retire maybe to continue this story Goten is born and he also gets new abilities along with his official ones as he has merged Magic and Ki. Please take inspiration from Dragon Quest mages and also the Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross games spells as Akira Toriyama is a fan and did work on the Dragon Quest games and Chrono Trigger. And also maybe Goten eventually gains some enlightenment super powers from Taoism and some forms of Buddhism. Maybe Goten not only learns to shape shift like Puar and Oolong and gains what his mother has here but honoring Journey to The West maybe Goten also gets the abilities of Red Boy from Journey to the West and also the Bull Demon King. But to make Goten grow take a look at Journey to The West and Sun Wukong's magical abilities. But also take a look at this. Iron Fist VS Po (Marvel VS Kung Fu Panda) DEATH BATTLE! Use the information on both of the combatants and their source material for inspiration for Goten's development and new abilities. I also recommend that you take a look at the martial arts disciplines of Akido, and Taekwondo. And just so you know their is an actual martial arts style called Shotokan Karate which was inspired by Zen Buddhism and the fighting style of Bushido. Bushido is not just a philosophy but also a fighting style of The Japanese Samurai. Shotokan Karate did not originate in Street Fighter. Make Goten more than just a Goku clone.

Could see Chi chi stop fighting but basically teach and continue to practice magic. Which would be interesting for Buu arc, if she becomes strong enough could she stop the mind control on a person. Maybe sense buu and babidi from a kind of magical connection there and be premptive with them. Feels like a magic focused buu arc would be neat.

I agree in that Chi-Chi could excel with her magic wisdom atleast as a support class in the Buu Arc more so against Babidi. I doubt she'll be a front liner agianst Buu but she could use her maternal nature in a way that could be used to manipulate Buu or atleast the Fatbuu in some way.

Feels like kind of a cop out, She just happens to learn anti-magic without any foreshadowing outside of it being an oblique Black Clover reference...I guess SSJ2 was just as much of an asspull. First Frieza is easily taken out now Cell get's all out attacked. I don't mean to be rude or anything but it just lacks that gravitas and wraps up too cleanly, the only possible thing that might have been sacrificed is Chi Chi's self Confidence since she had to have the rest of the Z Fighters bail her out on this one. This What If just seems to have really low stakes.
