The sad thing is if his KZbin gets enough traction to be noticed by the higher paying studios and not just indies, it probably pays better to make youtube videos, let alone doing the work he wants at his own pace. Either you know a dude or two or you don't get to do music for a living. Music for games, sadly is not different there.
@eduardop21113 жыл бұрын
@@hiiambarney4489 youre talking as if his youtube blowing up is inconsequential but ok
@ninetailedfox5791213 жыл бұрын
@@hiiambarney4489 No, it definitely would not be better paying. Especially if he was just working at his own pace. The reason he presumably wouldn't get interest from anyone is twofold: One, from what I can tell by looking at his channel he just does covers and no original music. And two, most of his music is one genre, and not a very good genre for gaming at that. Metal in general doesn't go well with many games, and especially Doom-style metal would just about only go with Doom. Plus the higher paying studios don't show interest in people. They have people show interest to them, just like any other job. The only time they would specifically go after someone is if they have a very specific thing in mind that that person is already well established in doing, or worked with them previously. Doing Mick Gordon-style covers isn't going to get anyone's interest, they would just go after Mick instead.

this was actually fucking incredible. i think the only part that i personally thought sounded "off" was the 80s synth thing with the fake guitar. i don't think i've ever heard (or at least noticed) that sort of sound in any doom track, i feel like mick probably would hide that sound by layering w/ something else. outstanding work nonetheless! i wish i understood music as well as you legends out there lmao

@@GeoffPlaysGuitar I think it would’ve worked really well if you tried to recreate the sound of the synth part in the track Gladiator
@maximeteppe76273 жыл бұрын
I agree that it sounded a little too clean... On a more general note, the track is 5 mn long, I wonder if it would be possible to successfully layer some of the organ/synth stuff over some of the more guitar+basse+drum parts as well to have a bit more of a "saturated" soundtrack, without creating too many new sounds. I also think some of the notes at the start lack agressivity; I don't now if they are lacking in attack, or if they lack distortion, or layers to create a fuller "wall of sound". It could also be that the song that serves as inspiration is too incompatible with doomification. The result sounds good. It just doesn't quite sound DOOM.

@XTRMNTR2K3 жыл бұрын
This was absolutely mindblowingly amazing. I'm so glad I stumbled upon your channel a while ago. Your understanding of the music creation process is off the charts (at the very least to someone like me). Wow. I love how you go into detail about the original composers Mick Gordon and Nobuo Uematsu, and their approach to making music. Gotta admit, I was never crazy about Gordon's work and thought he was (a bit) overrated despite his good work on Doom 2016 (but that was probably just me somewhat missing a more traditional metal soundtrack like Doom I and II had), but due to your recent videos I honestly have a newfound respect for the man. First and foremost he seems to be a genius sound engineer, whereas Uematsu (who happens to be one of my all-time favorite composers in modern times) is more of a traditional composer. You, good sir, seem to have the best of both worlds! Seriously, your work is amazing. And these making-of videos are greatly appreciated! Also I have to find enough cash somehow to pay your rent, because FULL LENGTH DANCING MAD DOOM STYLE needs to happen! :D Keep up the great work! Meanwhile I'm off to get this track from your bandcamp...
