Since I despised Honest John and his sidekick in the Disney movie I immediately had reservations about them, but as soon as Claudia's tone changed when she talked about her brother's affliction of blindness I knew what was up. They were crooks but they never wanted to directly harm us, and they were just as much product of their environment as everyone else plagued by the Krat disaster. I think this is my favorite version of the cat and fox and I love the sympathetic direction they went with it.

There's really no one bad or good in this game (well unless we count Geppetto. He's the actual person who's completely bad as all of this puppets going crazy thing happened because of a "whim") but everyone else who is human is just trying to survive in a world where you have to do what you can in order to do so. No one here is bad, they are desperate which is different. Technically you could say Geppetto was desperate as well but the issue is that he wasn't pushed by the situation to be desperate like everyone else in Krat is after what Geppetto caused.

I felt bad in my second playthrough of killing them. They are just Brother and Sister trying to survive there. They are not really bad in my eyes. Sure they call you an Idiot and so and you think first they take you for a fool, but they rly care for each other. When killing the Brother he said he didnt wanted to be a burden for his Sister anyway.... That was just sad D= I will help them again though, i do rly like them :)

​@@ThaKiddCT You have to think about their situation not about the moral of our real life world. Like everyone else between the humans there's who is evil and who's desperate. Geppetto is the actual evil/bad one who caused every other human being to be faced with a desperate situation, in desperate times people show their worst side, everyone is a enemy human or not, they just want to live when faced with a stressful and desperate situation where the world is literally ending with a disease that is not sure it can be cured. Everyone is so desperate they will do anything to have the remote chance of a normal and good life. At the end of the day they never actually do anything bad to you. They don't attack you, they use you yes but they never harmed you. They just asked for some gold coins and they literally cause you no trouble. If lying is what you draw the line with someone being a horrible human being I guess the game isn't really for you as the game is all about lying either way. Still those two are just people trying to survive, you can't guarantee you wouldn't end up like them in a desperate post apocalyptic situation.

@@cheese-and-ricemooney7487 i hear you and agree to some extent. Fox left a wealthy family, she even had people doing task to help her (like the frozen feast side mission). She basically chose that poor like to help cat which she also knew want her brother. They use you, to basically distract/defeat another group to rob them, then ask you for what's consider the most expensive currency in their world due to another group exploiting them. Yet we had a good fruit tree, so if they were truly good, coming to the hotel was the help they needed to not only be safe but for cat not to be used by the alchemist. Them attacking the rest of the hotel was uncalled for and in the end of you don't pay, they both WILL harm you by choice so no ..I won't look past the dire situation but they both chose the dark path

On my final playthrough I had refused to give a coin and when I got to the brother I ran away. The fox then wanted to kill me because I didn’t give the coin in the first place. I wonder what would happen if you gave a coin, and then ran away from the black cat fight, what would the red fox do?

Honestly I might be the only one that is bothered by this but seeing people hate on them is annoying. Do I like them? Not really. I'll be honest when they ditched me I was extremely pissed off at them but you all have to be realistic and understand their situation. Post apocalyptic world where killing puppets and modified humans go around and kill everyone. Their normal life is suddenly gone, now they find themself in a stressful situation, they are desperate, they just want to survive. Like every other human in the game stressed by the situation at hand they are so desperate that they will do anything. The fox and the cat wants their normal life back and be able to cure the black cat from the disease. The first human who you ever meet (the one with the donkey head) just wanted answers. The other guy with the mouse/rat mask felt regret and wanted to get rid of every puppet. The Weasel just wanted some money out of greed. Everyone because of the desperate situation reacted in their own way. Some worse than others. What the black cat and red fox did was literally harmless also the attack at the hotel. Let's talk about that. The attack was made by BOTH the fox and cat plus the black rabbit brotherhood. Realistically speaking the brotherhood most likely was the one destroying and vandalising everything as revenge for what we did to their older brother. The cat and fox never did anything bad to you. Yes, they leave you to fight the brotherhood alone but this is literally what almost every other human would have done as they care about their own survival more than helping the others (not all obviously) but the world is already ruined, people are desperate and scared so they all go at each other throat. No one can be trusted in this world, even your most closest companion could be lying to you or turn against you which is literally what happened. Black cat is lying to Red Fox and the Alidoro we know killed the real Alidoro and doesn't seem to feel remorseful about it, plus the Alidoro we know seems to have a bad personality on general as he's not as heroic as the original one. The world is full of bad people in Lies of P, if not bad it's people pushed to do bad things because scared and desperate and because the bad environment simply brings out the worst in people. Does it justify their actions? No. Does it make them actually bad? Once again no. They are scared and they just want to live, you can't say you wouldn't find yourself be like them in such a desperate situation. With this I'm not saying you have to like them. Everyone have the character they dislike or hate and it's totally valid, but the reasons of hate for those two literally makes no sense. The destroyed hotel was also most definitely something done by the Black Rabbit Brotherhood as they were there as well and actively have it against P and Geppetto for their brother death. The fox and the cat were there but I highly doubt they actually damaged the hotel, it makes more sense it was the Black Rabbit Brotherhood to do that as the cat and fox took Geppetto. Still no one is entirely good, even Sophia while not evil admit to be egoistic as she uses Krat as cover up to the fact that she actually woke you up to save her and not Krat, she literally say it herself. By the end of it she had a change of heart yes but she made clear her initial motivation was completely egoistic and mostly for herself. Either way Geppetto and Simon are the actual horrible people, not those two who like every other human in the game is scared and desperate.

Honestly, I dont understand everyone's empathy with them here. They literally led our character into a trap on Malum district, called him an idiot and a fool, and didn't help to fight the brotherhood. I really don't care about the blindness. Our life struggles in life don't give us the right to hurt others. From that moment in the game, I vowed to kill both of them given the chance. I haven't gotten to the sister yet, but rest assured when I do she will meet the same fate as her brother. Lemme add something here. They've made it pretty clear that they hurt and steal from others for personal gain, and it really doesn't matter what the gain is. It isn't right. His blindness isn't the rest of the world's problem

The emphasis on being called an idiot and a fool makes me think you have your own hangups there tbh. If it wasn’t true it wouldn’t bother you, unless it’s just an insecurity? Sounds like you got your hackles raised and decided to hate them based on an emotion you decided not to control, you felt the hit to your anxiety and judged them after that, instead of being empathetic from the start, so *now* you don’t want to be empathetic since you made up your mind before you even tried. The difference is some of us can recognize our own reactions, and still choose to be empathetic and realize we took it harder than they intended it to be taken and where they were coming from, rather than staying with the instant reaction of “this made me feel bad, so they were *trying* to make me feel bad!” and working backwards from that. Like, it’s understandable, we all experience that, but how you interpret things is your own issue to deal with rather than converting someone elses trauma or anxious response into “this is malice because *i feel hurt* !!!” The first step is realizing that you felt the impact first, and justified it second based entirely on the impact, and that that is *not* the same as considering where the other person was coming from or why it’s trying to “solve” for “they decided to hurt me”, which was something you felt not something you considered. You set yourself up for your own misunderstanding.

You can give them coin at the tram, but not give it to the cat before Laxasia. Then, you'll have to fight both. That's what I did in my first run, wasn't about to give a coin to the mf who raided the hotel.
