This looks absolutely gorgeous & so true to that early 90s BBC aesthetic. Brilliant work!

Love this! My only critiques would be that the titles at 0:35 probably could be centered in the middle of the screen, since the doctor who logo doesn't appear simultaneously, thus not making it necessary to shift them down. Secondly around 1:55, maybe keeping the logo at a lower opacity, or darker brightness until the Producer credit is gone could make that a bit easier to read. Just my 2 cents as a graphic designer / editor. This definitely looks very authentic, great job!

Thank you very much! Always nice to have constructive criticism. I was going to center the text for the episode title but I decided to instead put them at the bottom so that the white text didn't get washed out by the glowing nebula. Ultimately, I could have added a black box around them to make it work, which I probably should have done in hindsight, but I also wanted to sort of show off the nebula by itself a little bit. You're spot on with that second point though, it's definitely difficult to read the producer credit. Cheers for the feedback!

Richard Griffiths? If only! "I'm terribly tired, Monty." "You've said that already...twice."

I'm a big fan of the static nature of the intro, how it's just panning shots of space. Very atmospheric, reminds me of a couple old 2000s science shows they used to show kids at school

Richard Griffiths as The Doctor and Julia Sawalha as the companion. 😀 But I wonder if they would have had a second male companion, in the style of Harry Sullivan, to handle the action scenes. 🤔 Anyway, facinating speculation.

They should, maybe add a teenage boy or an android. Now that would be interesting. Who knows. I wish their was a universe where I could see the Richeard Griffiths episodes and the final season for Sylvester Mccoy in season 27.

All the panning of still grainy stock images makes this feel like a workprint version or proof of concept mockup of the titles rather than a final product. Also I like that you actually show a bit of the show after the titles and before the credits, nobody does that and it helps add a bit of verisimilitude.
@theunknowneditor63

For a low budget show in 1993, panning grainy stock images probably isn't too far from what they wouldn't gone with, but then you could argue either way

@@theunknowneditor63 Even if the budget was still slashed by then (a lot of people speculate the budget would’ve been restored to, if not exceeded what it was before the 6th and 7th Doctor’s eras, if the show had regained some more popularity), the show still had dignity and a requirement to meet professional standards. I mean, they were still able to pull off some fairly impressive effects during the 6th and 7th Doctor’s eras in spite of the reduced budgets. I mean, this is quite a downgrade from the impressive (for its time) CGI of the previous intro. Heck, they probably would’ve been able to do even better for cheaper considering how much more ubiquitous and probably cheaper CGI was by 1993.

This really really good, very convincing since it has that nice old-school analogue feel to it. Most of the fanmade Doctor Who 1990s videos on yourtube look very fake in using more 2000s style music and CG graphics but the limitations and simplicity of this one make it feel like something the BBC could actually have made. Did you get your Griffiths footage from "Pie in the Sky"? Also "Transit" is a fantastic novel and I wish it were on the TV show very much
@theunknowneditor63

Thanks very much! Yes, I did use footage from Pie in the Sky, as it would have been the same time Richard would have played the Doctor. My research into clips from the show really made me appreciate Griffiths as an actor more as well. Ahh, he'd have been such an amazing Doctor.

i know you did the morbius doctors, have you made ones for the curse of fatal death doctors? i really like this and it feels so real, but after richard griffiths my alternate timeline mostly goes with them, i imagine richard e grant’s theme would be similar to the scream of the shalka theme too. if you haven’t then i’d love to see that!

@@theunknowneditor63 I completely disagree. If Dr Who continued into the 90s with an even lower budget it might have been a disaster and actually been outright cancelled instead of just a hiatus. I internally cringe when thinking of a BBC 90s Who. Dr Who needed to go away for awhile and grow and evolve. Sometimes to love a thing it has to leave for a bit. And it came back to be one of the biggest shows in the world.

@purefoldnz3070 I never said that Doctor Who should never have been cancelled. I agree that it was a necessity for the success of the revived series, you're completely right there. It needed to evolve. All I said was that Richard Griffiths would have made a good Doctor.
