Both of them saw that the Jedi Order was slowly falling apart from within and ultimately were not following the will of the Force. Qui-Gon and Dooku alike were good Jedi, but weren’t afraid to disobey the Jedi Code when necessary. They were very Grey Jedi, but in a very good way.

This really goes to show just how instrumental Qui Gon and Dooku were in the grand scheme of things. If Qui Gon hadn't died, he would've trained Anakin and most likely would've understood him better and kept him from the dark side. Dooku wouldn't have gone to the dark side either due to Qui Gon's death being the final nail in the coffin, but without this happening, Palpatine's plans fell into shambles.

From what I can reasonably understand, form 2 is a duelist form of lightsaber combat. Perfect for one-on-one combat, elegant moves, and disarming ones' opponents. This form is not really suitable when facing multiple opponents. However, the Count had perfected this form so it could be.

Qui Gon was the Mufasa of the Star Wars universe. He meant so much to so many people and made an impact wherever he went. And like when Mufasa died and the Pridelands were in ruins under Scars reign. When Qui Gon died, the galaxy went to hell as no one could stop Palpatine. And so it would be until Luke, the Star Wars version of Simba, stepped forward and brought about the end of Palpatine's evil. *I am not acknowledging the 'sequel' just FYI*. Qui Gon's death changed his loved ones for better or for worse and nothing was the same ever again.

Great video! There's a what if I've been thinking about for a while: What if Qui Gon and Darth Maul talked? Let me explain: Qui Gon was never too in line with the Jedi order itself, and we know Maul is actually pretty smart, so I think there's a good chance that Maul didn't trust Palpatine and, after sensing Anakin's connection to the force, he could have decided to talk to Qui Gon. This would happen instead of Qui Gon's death and would lead to a very different outcome. What do you think about this scenario?

I find it amusing that people seem to think Dooku would pwn Maul because of his master saber skills, but people seems to completely forget that Dookus form was based on sword to sword dueling, in this case Makashi would be far less effective because Dooku would be using attacks, and counters, and blocking techniques that meant for an opponent holding a sword like him, but with Maul, he is going up against a combo between a combat staff and a double headed spear with a sharp cutting neck and back. I am not saying Dooku would lose, he might still find as he was a great fighter, but dont count Maul out, he was a very strong advantage since he is not only using a weapon that Dooku has no experience fighting against, but a dangerous combo of both Juyo form and Ataru form, remember how Exar Qun was defeated by his master who was also a makashi master, but then on their second battle Exar Qun had invented the doublebladed lightsaber as his new weapon and when his former master saw the now Sith Lord Exar Qun, activating the second blade, the Makashi Jedi master had no idea of how to counter this new weapon, and he was quickly killed.

Little does the Jedi realize that this is the Senate's plan all along, to get rid of the Jedi from power. So despite all the evidence, the Senate still chooses one of their own, their emperor, Emperor Palpatine. Then, and only then, the Jedi understood they had been serving a corrupt master all along.

Dooku would defeat Maul on his own. He could do incredibly well versus the likes of Kenobi, Skywalker and Yoda, and Maul would not be a true match for Dooku. It's not even that close especially in the year 32 BBY. It'd be totally one-sided. A better/more interesting scenario, might have been to say, 'What if Dooku had been Palpatine's first Sith apprentice from the start and there was no Maul?'. Dooku fighting Qui-Gon Jinn would be the cruellest, ultimate test set by Palpatine, to not just kill Sifo-Dyas, his friend, but to kill his own former padawan. Dooku fighting Qui-Gon and Kenobi would be curious. Qui-Gon would be trying desperately to draw as much of Dooku's attention as possible, because he'd know how little chance padawan Kenobi would stand if Dooku focused on Kenobi too much. During the duel, which would be emotional throughout, with Qui-Gon pleading with Dooku to come back to the light, Dooku would back off at times, struggling with his own mission. The biggest part of him would not want to kill Qui-Gon; but his belief in the need to fix the galaxy and remove the corrupt and decadent Republic, which was central to his political idealism (upon which Palpatine preyed) would force Dooku to continue, no matter how painful it was for him in truth. Dooku would effortlessly parry and sidestep most of Kenobi's Form IV Ataru, and although energetic and enthusiastic, with a lot of skill and genuine talent for a Jedi of his age, Kenobi would realise he was drastically outmatched by Count Dooku. Dooku would, at one point, successfully use his masterful telekinesis, and hurl Kenobi from one of the catwalks in the Theed Palace powerplant. This would be concerning as Kenobi would only just hang on to a distance platform, largely with the Force keeping him from falling much further down (which would have been potentially fatal for even an advanced padawan like him) Struggling back onto the platform, Kenobi would look up and see Qui-Gon struggling with Dooku's equally masterful Form II Makashi. Kenobi would strive to return to Qui-Gon's side. Ironically, with Kenobi removed from immediate harm's way, this would allow Qui-Gon to fight to his true ability and he would use everything he remembered from sparring matches with Dooku to try his best to unsettle his elegant blade work. All the same, this would be nigh on impossible. Dooku, as far as is known, was never defeated by Qui-Gon in any sparring sessions. The only Jedi to have _ever_ defeated Dooku in Jedi Temple training sessions, was Yoda; Dooku's own former master. Dooku defeated everyone other than Yoda; though it is unknown if Yoda had a completely undefeated sparring record against Dooku (which I would consider _highly_ unlikely in spite of Yoda winning more, which I would say would make sense) Qui-Gon would know his master's Form II was far better-suited to the narrow, linear catwalks and platforms of the powerplant, and would be wary of getting on the wrong side of that elegant blade mastery from Dooku. He would be well-aware that Dooku was more than capable of picking him apart and finding too many flaws in his fighting style. Qui-Gon was a great Jedi, though his greatness was not necessarily as a swordsman or champion duellist. His real greatness came through his wisdom, sense of purpose, respect for the Living Force and his maverick nature which made him follow his beliefs to the end. Dooku admired and respected Qui-Gon, though rolled his eyes at his shortcomings as a duellist. Dooku cared a lot about Qui-Gon, even in the actual canon, and he lamented his death. However, if Dooku was the one whom was written into The Phantom Menace all along, in an alternate reality where Maul never existed (say, if by chance George Lucas just felt like contacting Sir Christopher Lee a bit earlier than he did in real-life, regarding casting for the prequels), then I can definitely see the sheer drama of Dooku being forced to kill Qui-Gon Jinn by Palpatine, as the final test to become Darth Tyranus. Think about it; it makes a whole lot more sense. Dooku would still be beloved of his Separatist movement and friends in the then already quietly forming Confederacy of Independent Systems. Dooku being forced to do this by Palpatine would mean so much more than random edgy dude with heavy tattoos doing it. There was nothing that connected Maul to Qui-Gon prior. He was just a weapon of the Sith and used accordingly by Palpatine and wasn't exactly lamented in his apparent demise (and what was his death from 1999-2013, at least; until the _geniuses_ at Disney decided to bring him back to get easy acclaim from mega Maul fans whom couldn't let his death up to that point go) Disney was really grasping for straws bringing him back. Anyway. Dooku fighting in Episode I would then make people care more about his character in Episode II - by which time, Kenobi and Skywalker would be fighting him. If Kenobi was going into that fight with over a decade of grief after witnessing Dooku kill Qui-Gon, then it could be incredible impactful and emotionally tragic when they fight again. Skywalker would be unbalanced and headstrong as usual, though he would sense Kenobi (normally calm) beginning to lose it a bit fighting Dooku again. Skywalker 'wouldn't get it' at first to the point he'd understand everything, but in my version Skywalker would be genuinely shocked at the level of anger building in Kenobi. It'd be something he'd _never_ seen before and he'd secretly respect Kenobi more for it in a weird way. It would humanise him more, showing Anakin that it wasn't just him with the burden of grief (over his mother, in Anakin's case) but that his own normally very sensible and calm (almost to the point of tedium) Master, would be capable of such strong emotional attachments. The death of Qui-Gon Jinn would haunt Kenobi forever. And Dooku, too. There is this whole other story to tell about _that_ version of the duel. Imagine the emotions on display if Dooku faces Kenobi and Skywalker _a decade after_ having slain Qui-Gon? Anyway, back to Episode I. The duel would show how even Qui-Gon was just not going to be able to throw Dooku off his form. Using Ataru to the best of his abilities, Qui-Gon would acrobatically try to outflank and confuse Dooku, using broad, angular flurries of the blade and leaping around as much as the narrow confines allowed. This would contribute to tiring Qui-Gon Jinn out, though none of it, for all it's heroism, would stop Dooku at all. Dooku was always just in a different league as both a force sensitive and a lightsaber duellist. He was just drastically better than most other Jedi, including his own apprentice Qui-Gon. There'd be no shame in losing to him, though having largely fallen to the dark side, Dooku would now show little to no mercy. Kenobi would manage to re-join the fight, before the matter of the separation of the two in the section protected by shields, took place. Qui-Gon would again try and distract Dooku as much as possible, fearing a sudden riposte skewering or cutting Kenobi down mid-battle. Dooku would know what Qui-Gon was doing, and genuinely respect him for it; almost subconsciously 'going easy' on Kenobi and not actively trying to bring him down (as he easily could if given half the chance) He would toy with them both before leading them deeper into the inner sections of the powerplant, and by then, Kenobi _would_ be separated from Qui-Gon again. In the upper platforms on the way into the section with the shield doors, Dooku would suddenly unleash his first barrage of Force Lightning; which would be channelled with one hand full-blast at point blank range into Kenobi's body, while he fought Qui-Gon effortlessly with the lightsaber in the other hand, on the other side of him on the catwalk.

This would alarm and distress Qui-Gon, seeing Kenobi bodily flung into the air and back across over 40 metres of the catwalk, semi-conscious. His robes would be almost charred and a grim series of tiny smoke plumes would rise from his robes, with the lightning frazzling and incapacitating him. The duel between Qui-Gon and Dooku would continue and Dooku would taunt him over his padawan and call him weak. Kenobi would quickly regain consciousness after a brief KO moment, and stagger to his feet again, inhaling deeply and falling back down on one knee, exhausted and in pain. He would then look across the long catwalk and see flashes of saber clashes in the chamber ahead, as Qui-Gon and Dooku fought with Dooku giving ground as he lured Qui-Gon into a more confined space to really begin dismantling his old padawan's Ataru. All throughout this, Dooku would be verbally admonishing Qui-Gon, lecturing him about being a disappointing padawan (almost as if to psyche himself up for the dark deed of killing Qui-Gon) In a blistering display of Form II, Dooku would leave Qui-Gon swinging erratically into mid-space and failing to make much of an impression. Dooku would belittle Qui-Gon, though again do so more like a disappointed teacher, or even parent, rather than someone truly 'ready' to do what he was about to. Kenobi would manage to reach the shield doors, and witness Qui-Gon fighting to the absolute limit of his ability, using angular movements and determined blade work to hold Dooku's relentless onslaught off. Dooku would gracefully contain Qui-Gon's best attempts with the lightsaber, and leave him looking erratic and overwrought, dodging dozens of slashes and swings. The occasional lunge and close-quarter flurry of the saber by Qui-Gon would be meticulously countered by Dooku, and leave him looking clumsy. Just as Dooku greatly outclassed Kenobi in the actual timeline of Episode II, on Geonosis. Qui-Gon's death would be at a decisive moment of the duel, whereby Qui-Gon had been skilfully and unquestionably outclassed as a lightsaber duellist, and injured with small lightsaber blade-tip cuts to the upper arms and Qui-Gon's left leg. This left him fighting with a slight limp, and struggling badly to fend Dooku off. Seeing this, Kenobi would anxiously watch on waiting for the shield doors to alternate off. Death would find Qui-Gon shortly after, as Dooku would cut off Qui-Gon's lightsaber hand at the upper arm and bring him down with a broad, slashing strike to the left leg. Qui-Gon would be then run through with Dooku's still blue lightsaber. The deed would emotionally destroy Dooku in the process, destroying a big part of what he had been, and believed in all along. Kenobi's survival would be close-run and it could have been Dooku's visible turmoil in killing Qui-Gon. It would break his heart in truth but he would see it as a necessary loss for the 'Greater Good'. Dooku would not see killing Kenobi as necessary; his orders were about killing Qui-Gon. Heartbroken at seeing Dooku run him through, Kenobi would fight like mad to try and win out. Dooku would KO Kenobi and escape. In his heart, Dooku would be distraught. Kenobi would wake up the next morning, and reflect on his old master’s demise.

Honestly, I think Anakin STILL wouldn't turn to the Dark Side. He was racing to free himself and Shmi. He could have won his freedom from Watto; then he would do the same for his mom. Would he have been a PROPER Force user? Probably not. I say that because the Force allowed him to have fast reflexes. He just would have never met Padmé, and we wouldn't have the OG Trilogy.

If Dooku went to Naboo, Maul would have been slaughtered. Dooku was more skilled in lightsaber dueling, more experienced and much more powerful in the Force than Maul.
