8:46 That's interesting. I think a lot of people tend to overlook Galadriel's engineering feats, but the phial and the mirror were essentially like a modern silmaril and palantír respectively. It is interesting (and somewhat terrifying) to wonder what would happen if her motives and skills had become corrupted.

In canon lore Galadriel taking the Ring would still be better than the "Galadriel" in Amazon.
@fogwat Жыл бұрын
Yes she would still be less evil violent and cruel than the Rings of Power verison.

Amazon’s Galadriel isn’t inconsistent with descriptions of her personality and experiences in canon.

One cannot use something wholy evil for good. The ring was never meant to be used for good, so I couldn't be. And it would eventually "trick" the wearer into thinking that what they did was good. Or at least a necessary evil.

It was all good up until that last part about "All should love me and despair!" That was a bit much, Galadriel. I mean, you're fine and all, but we're thinking about holding onto the Ring now.

Galadriel could easily have been worse than Sauron.
@brycetomecek5065 Жыл бұрын
It goes to show that no one, regardless of intention, could use the ring. No matter who and with whatever intentions, it would have led to their corruption. There was no one who could use the ring and not be swayed to evil. The ring is simply too evil to be used by anyone because it is part of Sauron himself. If Galadriel couldn’t use it for good, no one could

IMHO Sauron would have repeated his conquest of Numenor. That is, surrender and use the poison of his voice to overthrow her and her armies.

Then instead of a Dark Lord, you would have a queen, not dark but beautiful and terrible as the dawn! Tempestuous as the sea, and stronger than the foundations of the earth!

0:02 what do you mean “lowly”? Frodo is probably the greatest character ever and not just in the Lord of the Rings. His resilience to the Ring is extraordinary considering that it can even tempt the Maiar themselves.
@MysteriesOfWesternesse Жыл бұрын
I agree with Frodo being extraordinary, but that is, maybe fortunately, not the way the rest of Middle-earth saw him and the other Hobbits during that time. So in their eyes, Frodo would have indeed been just "a lowly Hobbit" 😉

The books note that Galadriel was more powerful than the Maiar because not only was she taught by the greatest of the Maiar, but she was immortal in flesh whereas the Maiar were spirits that required flesh to interact in the world. Power in the Lord of the Rings books is not based on rank. The books also said that One Ring was made by Sauron FOR Sauron so as a sentient being it would always seek a way to ensure Sauron gets it back, for example it would slip off her finger as she slept one night and bounce out a window. The One Ring has done things like that before.

to be honest if galadriel took the one ring from frodo she would of been more scary frightening and evil she wouldn't be able to defeat saurmon the 1 ring would of consumed her
