Asnd Vegeta showed how he felt about his own father and gave his rival great advice about what to do regarding such a topic of his heritage. It just goes to show you that blood ties alone aren't what everyone thinks they are. Your real family is the ones that love you for you. Who provides for you, keeps you safe, teaches you right, teaches you everything you need to know to survive in the world, and who'll always love you no matter what. Saiyans just aren't built that way. Gine, Broly and Tarble are outliers. And while Bardock may care to some extent for Kakarot and Radditz on a principle level, the only one he truly loves (even if he won't admit it out loud) and cares for is Gine.

Gotta say I'm really enjoying this "What if?" so far! The way you have interpreted Bardock as a more 'traditional' Saiyan, but a bit on the softer side thanks to Gine's influence and also having actual friends back on planet Vegeta is one of the best versions of the character I have ever seen. Although I do hope that his power starts to catch up to the main cast and he also bridges the gap with Goku. Keep going strong Masako!

Man, knowing how easily Vegeta could have wished back his father, with Bulma probably being willing to help just be supportive, makes you think. It's entirely off screen in canon, but you have to wonder if Vegeta truly considered it and what, if any, benefits there would be. Kudos Masako, for that heart to heart ending and your take on that. I've often thought your what-ifs best tackle the emotional side of these stories well and that ending was icing on the keikaku. Have to reiterate from previous comments, these Christmas what-ifs are my all time favorites and this one is shaping up to be another slam dunk. Keep up the the great work!

Kinda surprising bardock qualified for the god ritual but since he participated he might get a power increase like how videl did in what if videl was a z fighter but much more potent. My favorite part about this what-if is Goku relying on Vegeta on stuff other than fighting and/or training. It helps to establish Vegeta as a non-oblivious Saiyan even more making it even easier to root for him. Not about beating Goku but becoming defender of Earth and a proper family man with friends that rely on him.

Honest. I gotta say. I love this Bardock alot. This Z/Bardock movie special is absolutely my favorite. He gets his time to shine now and again, but when the world is at stake or if thing go down to the wire. You bet your Dragon balls he's there to make a final stand! Heck if this ever goes to GT, Bardock would be an amazing catalyst for the ssj4 Transformation cause of it's sayian lienge if it happens, for now. This super Bardock, just feels right. In this what if, anyway. I hope in the next part he actually becomes a key part of frieza's defeat in resurrection F ethier at his hands/Vegeta's or shows Goku why being merciful to your enemies can sometimes...not be a great idea. No matter how tough you think you are, but otherwise i can't wait to see where this is going. Gine, you should definitely be happy for Bardock.

I geninely thought Bardock was gonna be front and centered and while he still is, like masako said bardocks Abit of a...anti-social and some of us can relate to that, but in terms of story, this means Bardock is pretty much okay with being sidelined in the story, because that's his personality and given the god ritual and him hinting at him having his own version of super Saiyan or less? (Probably me reading way to much of that line or still me being Abit hyped about the what if.)

That last moment with Goku and Vegeta connecting so maturely was nice, but it still feels a bit off to see Vegeta painting Bardock as a bad dad, when Bardock being a good father for Saiyan standards is what allowed the series to begin. It feels weird to see Bardock portrayed as an emotionless brute after the movie and the Granola arc. He felt like such a real guy there, had a nice relationship with his peers, loved his wife and cared about his children. It was a nice portrayal of the Saiyan working class, I doubt everyone was as harsh as Vegeta and the other elites

Keep in mind that this Bardock has also been in HIFL for about 40 or so years by this point, was cut off from everything he cared about for that time, and when he did meet Goku for the first time, Goku's reaction was basically "so you're my dad huh? Neet."

I have a feeling the Goku Black arc will be the big/last event for Bardock. Not just because of an evil Goku, but the time travel aspect will be of great importance to Bardock given the ongoing narrative. My theory is that Bardock will take the time machine on a one-way trip to his past (which Beerus allows in order to ensure no more time shenanigans). Once back in his time, he uses the experiences he had to be a slightly better version of himself, becoming the Bardock we see in newer depictions. He does this out of newfound appreciation for his legacy, but most importantly to be able to spend his afterlife with Gine properly this time.

Of all the arcs that this what if may cover, I'm looking forward to Resurrection F the most for obvious reasons. Depending on how its written, that arc could very well be the finale to this What If, especially since it looks like power wise, Bardock isn't really going to catch up to the main cast all that much. But of course, seeing Bardock confront Frieza one more time, that's something worth waiting for. Also, I do still think that it would be interesting to have Bardock meet with Grandpa Gohan at some point. I don't really know how important that would be to the story, but it would probably be interesting to see Goku's dads meeting.

Really have to wonder how things would go with Freeza here. I'm assuming Bardock will take his place in the Tournament of Power? A serious snub that would shake this entire What-If up is if Goku still brought Freeza back and didn't even bother considering Bardock for the tournament, much like Yamcha. I feel like there's still hope for Bardock to be able to settle down, given Vegeta was able to settle dowm and enjoy his life on earth. But much like Vegeta, I feel like it's going to take Bardock years to be able to realize it's okay for him to do so.

Next will be Ressurrection F. Bardock coming face to face with Frieza again. I feel like that is going to be a turning point in the story. For him to get closure to an old wound and his Saiyan heritage. Bardock will always be an OG Saiyan, but maybe Frieza's return will trigger something towards his family.
