Tbf you can easily buff Galvantula, it's only a two-stage evolution with a BST of 472, so given Gen 5 Pokemon have been getting cross-gen evolutions as of late (i.e. Bisharp -> Kingambit), a ~550-570 BST evolved Galvantula with higher speed, special attack, and a better ability could outclass Ribombee.

Low-key I've been convinced game freak has been trying to subtly buff Volcarona for the last few generations now, Heavy Duty Boots, the extra moves and unlike a lot of other Pokemon who have 2 main tera types, Volcarona has like 7 it can use and do well with. I think it can stand the test of time and become the newest longest standing OU mon now that previous titans like Garchomp, Tyranitar, Heatran, Rotom and Landorus (kinda) are starting to get powercrept out of the OU meta.

If volcarona had sticky web it might actually hate rapid spin as a move out of the format because flame body would be too hard a punish One of the reasons why as an example Nidoqueen is so good in Gen 4 OU is because the poison point ability makes it super hard to rapid spin on it and it’s harder to deny entry hazards with Machamp. Now imagine you could actually punish rapid spin even harder. Most good rapid spinners are physical mons that are unbothered by web or rocks. But a 30% to burn them and as such effectively ruin a team member would be not worth it I am aware that other forms of hazard control like boots and defog are already more popular already but it would just be the death nail of Rapid Spin as a move

I think it would put glimmora in an interesting position as the only hazard remover that could answer volc. Because not only do you not care about being burned, but you also poison volc which can neuter any quiver dance sets, and volcarona doesn’t have any way to touch it without tera which would probably be less desirable on a hazard setter.

I'd argue that Slither Wing, Volcarona's ancestor would love Sticky Webs in UU. It has solid 85/79/105 bulk along with some additional utility such as wil-o-wisp and a decently hard hitting U-turn. 135 attack is also great and with first impression it could be interesting bluff for a more offensive variant of the moth that will wait will attempt to go for damage before using webs or a more passive set with defensive investments, along with not being weak to rocks

I really like to use Araquanid 252Hp 252Atk, custap berry. Sticky web, liquidation,Mirror coat and Lunge/Magic coat. Araquanid is very tanky specially defensive, so he can survive a thunderbolt, 1HKO with mirror coat and priority stycky web with custap berry. Also you can first sticky web and then just spam liquidation that doubles in power thanks to Araquanid hability.

People in the comments wanking Ribombee and Galvantula don't seem to get it. These are shitmons with bad stats and limited movepools. The only reason they get any usage at all is because of Sticky Web. They might be better than Kricketune but that's a really low bar to clear. They're still bad, and are just barely salvaged by Webs. And no being usable in NU isn't the same as being "good".

Both are NU/PU mons since the previous Gens, too. And this isn't an insult to them. They're simply not good for the higher tiers. The tiers are there so that all your favorite mons can become viable. It's not a caste system. That being said, those two are "bad" in OU standards.

I HAVE NOT WATCHED THE VIDEO but won't Volcarona, if it had indeed Sticky Web, suffer from opportunity cost? like, you always want Quiver Dance, both stab and coverage. Sometimes you throw one stab (bug) for roost/morning sun(depending the gen) or SOMETIMES and very few times will-o It does not suit it's role. It's not like Greninja in SM which runs Spikes with Specs. Volcarona needs to use its move slots to fit a different role which is a setup sweeper

I actually think defensive buzz would be a fine sticky web user. Swap out the 4th move from the Gen 8 defensive set to make it bulk up, drain punch, roost, web. Every team these days already has ghosts and good as gold to help block removal, so I think Buzz’s lack of immediate pressure is masked a bit

i kinda disagree with your take on volcarona and buzzwole, i'd personally swap them around, with the main reason being gholdengo. if ghold were around, it wouldn't matter if buzzwole has a bad matchup into the defoggers since it can switch hard into ghold immediately. and depending on the popular defog users, defensive ghold sets could fit on offensive balance, or you can use offensive ghold in HO and just sack it for momentum like in the pre dlc days where it was normal to knowingly switch it into tusk EQ lol

That would be interesting if moves with a chance to burn were also guarenteed to remove sticky web. Having different hazards removed by different kinds of moves could make for some interesting counterplay- but also make certain moves WAYY too viable. e.g. Hurricane removing spikes would be interesting, while Scald removing rocks or webs would be agonizing.

There are still a lot of good mons in lower tiers. Probably wouldn't do good in UU due to scizor being there, but anything bellow it probably would do fine.

Yes the vid wanted to explore the concept of a mon that's good in a more "traditionnal" way with access to webs. Rather than a mon that's good thanks to it's ability to use the move. But they are still right on the fact that if you get genuine use even if it's only due to your shiny move, then that means that you must be damn good at using your move, and therefore good in a certain way.
