Hosea dying abruptly can kind of be seen as a blessing to him, as Arthur basically showed us what kind of treatment a slowly dying Hosea was in for. I don't think he would have been listened to. Dutch was going to turn crazy eventually - it was inevitable.

Here's an alternate timeline suggestion, what if Dutch and Hosea switched places at the bank robbery? As in Dutch goes with Abigail while Hosea went with Arthur and crew, leading to Dutch getting shot and Hosea and or Arthur taking the reigns of the gang? How'd that play out?

I'd imagine that the gang would stay at the bank and have the shootout. It's what hosea would've wanted, especially to avenge dutchs death. After that? I don't have a clue. All I know is that things would play completely differently. The gang wouldn't go to guarma as Hosea has the mind to figure out a different escape plan. Hosea and dutch are very different in the sense of what they do. Dutch is do before think and Hosea is think before do. Things would play out very differently if Hosea survived and not dutch. I hope that answers your question :)

Very interesting thought. Hard to say how it'd play out, but definitely fun to consider. Also if they didn't kill Dutch right away and captured him instead, it'd be cool to see if the gang tried to free him later on under Hosea or Arthur.

I’m pretty certain if Hosea survived he probably would’ve died with Arthur either way. As his main narrative from the beginning was saving everyone that he could. So in this case he would’ve helped Arthur help John in escaping and most likely would’ve stayed with Arthur to fend off the Pinkertons along with Dutch and Micah

Not gonna lie but Hosea’s death might be the saddest one I strongly believe that he kept Dutch sane enough to avoid later blood shed within the gang. I also believe if he survived there would probably be some sort of mutiny with Hosea,Arthur,John,Charles and Sadie to stop Dutch’s madness whatever the cost. All in all because it’s a prequel none of it would make sense for the original. Still a masterpiece of a story.

Hosea would have very likely met a more tragic death I see two scenarios natural cause (we see him coughing in camp) or Dutch/Micah snapping and shooting him after a big argument There is hidden dialog early in game Hosea telling Micah to go to hell

Hosea was the glue to the gang. If Arthur somehow saved him from Milton, Hosea would've gotten to safety to Shady Belle and would've questioned Dutch's actions at the bank and in Guarma, and of course would've been distraught about Lenny. Then he would've tried to keep the gang from getting more divided and wouldn't let Susan shoot Molly when she was lying about betraying Dutch. And Micah wouldn't try to get into Dutch's ego as much because Dutch had deeper loyalty in Hosea despite their arguments. But after Arthur finds out about Micah betraying the gang, Hosea would've trusted Arthur and he probably would've killed Micah.

We can't speculate any decision he would or wouldn't have made before the st denis bank job because it's all canon. Say he didn't get killed would he have survived the boat sinking in the middle of the ocean? Would they have even been on the boat? A lot of possibilities.

i think if Hosea survived the robbery, and everything else still went down the same way in saint denis, dutch possibly wouldve suspected hosea to be a rat, or just start doubting everything hosea says, since the bank job went so horribly wrong and he was the one who planned it, he probably been more cold towards hosea, and they would probably be fighting more frequently after the return from guarma, even if hosea did try to prevent the rift in the gang, he still wouldve been viewed as "opposing" dutch. Dutch wouldve probably said something like "i knew i had a bad feeling about the bank job" and would use that as a leverage to doubt hosea and trust his own intuition more. so, the saint denis bank job wouldve just been Hosea's blackwater.

Well it is likely that hosea wouldn't have changed dutch's mind, but it is likely that he would help dutch see through micahs influence and make him understand he is the rat, since at the end of chapter 6, arthur was pretty close to doing so

Dutch's plan was actually coming together by the end of the game, they got the money and was about to leave when Arthur showed up to break the gang in half followed by John walking back with a Pinkerton squad. There is nothing suggesting mental decay in his actions, he got rid of Cornwall cutting off Pinkerton resource, Odriscolls was no more, created enough noise and scored big with the last train, all while Arthur was actively working against him behind his back. The problem of the gang's demise is the rat Abigail who directly caused Hosea's death at Saint Denis.

John’s arrest, working instead of being tortured and executed like any other gang member and Jack not being there at Lakay camp bust is the proof. Milton was the one that shot Hosea who might have realised that Abigail sold them out.

If hosea lives, then theres no red dead 1 (jk) All seriousness tho, i think he still would've had a big impact on the gang and wouldve kept dutch from completely going nuts. I couldve seen an alternative ending being something like hosea,john,arthur and the woman and Jack on some farm. And then i could see dutch,micah,javier and the rest still going on to be gunslingers. However im not so sure that hosea would leave dutch, if dutch doesn't lose his mind. Apologies for the long comment lol, great video btw!

Hosea would have sided with his sons notice how when things got worse Arthur instead of trying to cater to Dutch's approval ended up thinking exactly like Hosea. However I don't think Hosea living would alter Dutch too much because Dutch wasn't listening to all of Hosea's good ideas when he lived which is why I think Dutch is a bad leader. Same with Arthur because Arthur is a lot more introverted than people think he keeps things closer to his chest than people realize I can't see him turning to hosea until he gets his diagnosis

Honestly I ain't sure much would change. Kieran would probably take Arthur and John's side in the Red Dead Redemption mission. If he survived and escaped from what was left of the gang by that point then perhaps he and Mary-Beth would go into a relationship together as I have been told Mary-Beth liked Kieran. Then again, I have also heard people say that Mary-Beth likes Arthur so who knows.

Honestly, I believe that by the end of Chapter 6 Kieran would run away with Mary-Beth and start anew. Maybe Arthur would help 'em do so, just like he did with John, Abigail and Jack. And during the RDR2 Epilogue, I bet we'd have a couple of missions seeing him and Mary-Beth married and maybe with some children. Mr. Duffy now as a much braver version of himself, and later on help John, Charles and Sadie to kill Micah. That would such a great outcome for him, going from the O'Driscoll no one liked, to a respected and actual friend to count with during Micah's last stand. Later on, I see a chance of Kieran's family also bein' taken by the Pinkertons to force a much grown, and mature version of Mr. Duffy to team up with Mr. Marston once again to hunt down Javier, Bill and Ducth. Then, be killed just like John was. Now, for Jack and Kieran's possible son/daughter, I see the pair avenging their respectives father's death togheter at the end of the first Red Dead. If Kieran had a daughter, then maybe she'd become close with Jack, and he wouldn't be alone. Perhaps and because of her, Jack would have not decided to make the same mistake as his father did-revenge, and simply live happily forever after with Miss Duffy, now Mrs. Marston, at Beecher's Hope. The end.
