Hey Dan, fellow seller from SA 👋 Kan jy nog afrikaans, bra? Anyways, the moment I saw this notice from Amazon I immediately though to just introduce a middle man (prep center) to keep stock, because the cost would be lower to ship 1 large shipment to them than having to ship smaller quantities at a time direct to Amazon. So I agree 100% with your logic here. It's just another hurdle that will help keep serious sellers on Amazon and skim out the short term opportunity grabbers. Thanks for the awesome input, pointing out these Prep Centers made my research go a lot smoother!

I use UPS efullfilment great way to avoid limits and sell on other stores like Walmart and eBay including Amazon. I am launching new product will ship 200 to Amazon from China as test shipment to verify they will accept then rest to UPS efullfilment then will ship 200 a time from UPS efullfilment to Amazon warehouse. Then when get 500 IPI to get unlimited storage then will ship directly from China to Amazon FBA because I can make $4 more per item given I buy 3000 units per order that's additional $12k in my pocket and then will sellout UPS efullfilment inventory via Amazon, Walmart and eBay. Goal when I get 500 IPI and unlimited storage is to keep it so gotta time things when restocking cause takes like 66 days to get items from China so must time restocking to keep 500 IPI unlimited storage. Key is you have hot selling product to get unlimited storage fast. problem solved :)

Hi Dan, really informative video. I have been following your videos lately and have just launched by first product this month. It’s a high price item but comes in oversize category. I am planning to send my next shipment to 3pl which can do fbm and ship to fba both due to inventory restrictions.But my issue is I am not sure which place I should get the 3pl as Amazon keeps gave me 3 different warehouse last time I sent 200 units. So if I select a 3pl warehouse far from amazon fba there will be an added cost of domestic shipping(worst scenario of my warehouse is on east coast and have to ship the units to fba in west coast). Can you suggest some solution for this. Thanks in advance.

Hey Nisanpreet! Nice! On the prep centers, it's going to be very difficult to judge so I would recommend a mid ground center, say in Texas. This is why Amazon bases it's largest fulfillment centre in Dallas and why you will see a large majority of your international shipments go there first when shipping direct to FBA, you could do a similar approach with your own prep center.

@@DanRodgers hey Dan, wanted to do a little abuse here and ask you a quick question. So my wife and I are about to launch our first product from Guatemala, a non accepted country. Currently in the phase of looking for local suppliers, found a growing company that produces exactly the same products on the niche we need. We encountered with two work paths that we could follow: 1. Act as exclusive distributors for their already growing brand exclusively for Amazon. Since Guatemala is far from being an accepted country, they wouldn't have the chance to access that market on their own, so we act as their only bridge to Amazon. 2. Do brand registry and have them work with us acting only as manufacturers for our product, following exclusivity terms. This would mean growing our own brand from zero. Been a little confused on which path to take. What would you recommend?

Hey Kathy, go to Inventory - Inventory Planning - Restock Inventory and check your limits by clicking the small arrow above the GREEN RED bar you see there. Your max inventory allowed is how much can be at the warehouse while the max shipment quantity is how much you can send for each ASIN. If it is 200 and you have 60 in the warehouse, you should be able to send in 140 etc

It varies a lot but much quicker than sea shipments from China. Depending on how soon you can book, probably 2-4 weeks until fully available, also depends on Amazon's speed as they will be slower in Q4 etc.

Hi, great video. I am on my journey to being a new seller and have a question, maybe I'm misunderstanding. Isn't it during your shipping plan creation that you're creating the barcodes for the individual packages? If your shipping plan is limited to only 200, and you are ordering 1000, you will only have 200 to give to the seller to apply. Would you just have them apply to 200 units and separate out from the others(that you'd be sending to a 3rd party warehouse)? And then when you created a new shipping plan, you'd have to pay that 3rd party warehouse to apply the new barcodes before shipping to amazon right? Just seems like a huge extra cost to take on. Thanks
@DanRodgers4 жыл бұрын
Hey Doug! In that case, you would create a shipping plan for only 200 units and apply the FNSKUs to those 200 units. These can go direct to Amazon. You would send the other 800 to a 3rd party center without FNSKUs. As soon as you're ready to re-stock at Amazon, you would create a shipping plan for the re-stock units, let's say 150 units and get the FNSKUs and send them to the prep center to apply before sending them in to Amazon. Yes, there is extra cost for sure but it should beat the cost of multiple international shipments from abroad, for example, choosing to keep the other 800 at the supplier until you're ready to restock at Amazon, not to mention the increased speed.

Hi Dan I wanted to know if selling on Amazon from South Africa is better on the UK market or US, because I tried opening an account for US, but couldn't find South Africa on the US list
@DanRodgers4 жыл бұрын
Hey Jason, from SA with an SA entity, UK is the way to go for verification purposes (as you saw) however you could set up an entity elsewhere to sell in US. Funny thing is I have seen some SA Pty LTDs get verified for US, but really unclear why, seems almost case by case for that one

Hello Dan, your video is quite informative. i am a UK seller. I am doing FBA and FBM both. My sell figure has gone down drastically in November 2020. I was selling Covid related product. Amazon deactivated my listing without giving me any reason, and i had to request return of FBA stock. However i have other duplicate listings so I am still selling through FBM but not selling as much as used to sell via FBA during June-October. Also recently i started selling my own branded product, it is very competitive product, selling very fast, but its keywords ACoS is very high, not making profit at all. Would you please advice how to bring down ACoS and sell at average pace. I would really appreciate for your help. Thank you.

Hi Dan, I called seller support yesterday, they said that this is not applicable to new seller as new seller does not have a IPI score (not enough history to have a IPI score). Hence new sellers are not restricted by the 200 units limit. Are you aware of this as well?
@DanRodgers4 жыл бұрын
Hi Kian, the IPI score and the Inventory Limit of 200 for Q4 are separate. Yes, new sellers won't have an IPI and therefore won't face restrictions based on IPI (which will occur Aug 16 2020) The ASIN-level 200 limit is separate but is occurring for most products. If you have a new product in the US, it's like 90% certain you will have this 200 limit from what I have seen.
@s3ow4 жыл бұрын
@@DanRodgers thanks for your prompt reply and insights. One last question, do you know if this new restrictions is only applicable until end of the year? So basically start of 2021, it will be lifted?
@DanRodgers4 жыл бұрын
@@s3ow I can't say for sure however the announcement really seems directed at Q4, each year tons of new sellers pour in for Q4 and obviously that has some consequences on storage. My guess is yes, they will lift it in January

Hi Dan.I am on my way to produce my first products ever on amazon.One in UK, one in US.I guess all this stuff about invetory works for both, if i am not wrong.My question is, if i run out of stock for a month, would this affect my product and my account?Would this be harder to sell as before ?I am worried about running out of stock for a longer time so i have to take it from zero no matter how many good reviews the product already reached.Any info would be kindly apreciated .🙏 Thanks alot!
@DanRodgers4 жыл бұрын
Theseus, in my experience, running out does not have devastating affects. You may lose some ranking but a bit of PPC will bring it back in a few weeks. Running out for up to 6 weeks is generally okay, in my experience. It won't hurt your account but may reduce your IPI score slightly but having too much inventory would also impact it. Running out is always better than getting stuck with too much inventory, trust me on that.

Its per SKU. BUT if you already have more stock than Amazon says is allowed, besides having huge overstock fees, you'll also not be able to send any new SKUs or existing SKUs, until youre under the maximum limit. Something Amazon didnt make clear at all, and where I am at right now...😑

@@heidiii832 to be clear, the overstock of inventory that I mentioned is about the size tier, my products are all in standard size, and even though they're all selling well, they're overstocked. @@heidiii832 you dont have to sell out, you just have to get below their limit, which will be based on their own metrics...generally around 3 months worth of inventory per ASIN. The further you are below their maximum inventory level, the more you can send in I imagine.

All the gurus always talk about Amazon processes, PPC, competition, how do this and that, etc. but NO guru ever discuses about working with Amazon the business partner, their lousy seller support, their shoot first and NOT ask questions later style, restricted and banned accounts that happen without any warning for even trivial reasons. What I have learned so far about Amazon is that is a platform filled with land mines and booby traps. Their operations guidelines are purposefully vague. Amazon will restrict million dollar accounts as fast as $5k a year account. They treat seller accounts with a don't care about you, your business or the money you have invested sitting in inventory. You'll be shut off without warning and struggle with support to get re-instated (and may not succeed). They have been known to keep seller funds. They are an unfriendly judge, jury and executioner. Sellers are not treated as valued business partners. No guru, none, talk about this dark side of the platform. Its one thing to deal with the competitive environment but another altogether different adventure to deal Amazon when clouds appear on the horizon. They are a bi-polar, Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde organization. This is a side of Amazon that long time experienced sellers are aware of. It is the proverbial Sword of Damocles hanging over all Sellers heads. Dan, you do great videos but lets see a really good one about the dark side please.

noname Blue I have personally had some tough struggles with Amazon and hear where you're coming from.
