Anything that kills ticks and mites is cool in my book. Parasitic arachnids disgust me on a deep level. I’m cool with all other arachnids, even venomous ones, but the parasitic ones make me want to retch.

Scientist's know a way to eradicate them and also mosquitoes, but they don't want to for a number of reasons. One of them being that they don't want to open the door for others to use the same method on other species.

I live in PA and in the last 3 or 4 years we have noticed a rise in the amount of mantis' we see. This past summer alone I have seen about a dozen just around my house(a few times were the same one as it was a distinct shade of brown). We do not kill them since they kill so many other kinds of bugs. They've actually been a blessing

We took a praying mantis in as a temporary pet because of the cold weather. She was so interesting. Idk why but it was like she actually liked us. It's really cool when a praying mantis looks at you with acknowledgement. Then one day she laid an egg sack then died. A while later we had 200 more praying mantis and they all ate eachother.

A praying mantis once rode on my police vehicle's emergency light bar for about 3 hours of patrolling (to include me driving, at times, about 45 miles per hour or about 72 kilometers per hour). During a break, I was able to take a few pictures of the insect and it even briefly crawled into my hand (and then back onto the police unit). But, it eventually decided to no longer be my partner, leave the police service, and disappear back into the night.
