Zoro did state it. Every island they visit, they become stronger. By the time they reach Winner Island, everyone would be stronger. But i think the most realistic scenario here is that just like at Amazon Lily, Blackbeard figures out he bit more than he can chew and retreats. Vowing to Luffy they will meet again. It would be a great humilliation for Blackbeard, but he's an opportunist, running away is always an option. He is not the type to use all of his cards in a single go.

blackebard was struggling to fight against s hawk and zoro can make s hawk struggle , contrary to popular belief i don't think blackbeard is that strong himself , him fighting agains the straw hats specailly the strongest likes of sanji, zoro and luffy would not go well , he will need his entire crew to stand a chance , having shiryu and kuzan in the crew is a nice addition tbh . I don't think we have ever seen blackbeard going all out so again i can be wrong
