Ride the Lightning has by far my favorite guitar tone of any Metallica album. Yeah, the overall production on the black album might be objectively superior, but there's a certain balance between the rawness and the clarity here that appeals to me in a way I can't really describe. Also, I appreciate the subtle composition changes you made. Makes the nearly spot-on tone even more convincing. Well done.

Ride The Lightneing has really good thrash metal sound - raw, aggressive and... thorny. Also, "...And Justice For All" has the same way sound, though more polished. Ah, those years they had really great thrash sound. Later, with polished sound it became a bit different. The same thing I can say about Scott Burns' recordings, early 90s era death metal. I think later lots of albums have lack of this unique sound.
