Probably eggman, if anyone can survive that big explosion metal cause it would be him also thought of something a bit crazy. Metal sonic forms a team with Infinite the jackal and Mephiles the dark! Now hear me out, if the events of sonic 06 still happens similar enough the same what if after super Sonic, Shadow, Silver and Metal sonic defeat solaris, solaris splits back into mephiles and Iblis and somehow Iblis merges with Amy rose leaving mephiles no way to turn back into solaris. Metal takes a bit of pity for the dark entity and so talks to him to try and show him that there is more to life than he thinks and should try and living instead of destroying. Mephiles having been moved by the machines words accents metals kindness, Metal takes mephiles back to scrapnik island. As for infinite after sonic forces metal sonic is looking for the phantom ruby so eggman can't use it but as he finds the ruby he also finds infinite as well, after learning about infinite's past metal see's that infinite had been use like a weapon by eggman and takes him in with the rest of his scrapnik family. Mephiles and infinite having redemption arc's like metal sonic would make it a wonderful story. What do you think?

OMG, since the 06 event “didn’t happen”, Sonic gets something similar to a phantom limb in his memories but doesn’t even remember it. That’s HILARIOUS.

Honestly, I love the idea of the gang interacting with the actual festival beforehand. Seeing them play all these games is really great, plus the image in my head of Metal and Emerl flying through the canals is just beautiful!

And now things will be interesting. I loved this slice of life opening to the next saga of good guy metal. It really shows us how much this change affected the games over all. Also i love that moment with sonic, seemingly remembering the original events of 06, even if its just a brief moment. And lastly, even if eggman would make sense to return at the end, im gonna say silver preparing to strike. Or maybe even a darker force... i dont know but whatever happens next i cant wait. Edit: unless 06 doesnt happen at all because of a lot of different factors. I mean we did just skip shadow a few parts back. I dont know but now im more interested to see whats next

Gonna be interesting seeing how the robots are incorporated into the plot here given how they used Omega in the original as a bridge between the present and future Edit: finished the episode. Looks like with Shadow's game the main stuff is skipped but it was done in an interesting way here. Showing the aftermath of everything

As somebody who despises Mephiles i'm glad Metal won't be having to see and deal with his ugly face. Though i've always wanted to see Metal (whether he turned good or not) tear Mephiles a new one after killing Sonic (there is evidence in 06's files Metal was supposed to be in the game before being scrapped) Cuz if my entire purpose was to kill one person only for some other asshole to just come along and steal that (in an extremely cheap way too) i'd be pretty pissed.
