this chain of events could go back even further if the moriya shrine never came to gensokyo. without them, okuu would’ve never have swallowed the yatagarasu, and without the powers she gained from this, the palaquin ship would’ve never been released from the underground, meaning it wouldn’t be transformed into myouren temple, also meaning that miko never would have been revived, and nue would have no reason to call mamizou to gensokyo. there are a lot more side-effects than just that, but it still tied into to events that would’ve transpired in this video.

I’ve always found it so funny how UFO is, by far, the most “non-incident” game in the series. The protagonists start beef with the palanquin ship’s inhabitants for no reason and end up accomplishing nothing but speeding up their goals. POFV & TD are on a similar level, but even there, the outside effects of the “incidents” feel more emphasized.

Reference-wise Nue is a very important and powerful youkai in Japanese folklore and mythology, just that being an ex stage boss, she had to sacrifice plot relevance for overpowering presence.

You know, I guess it is rather fitting for Nue. Think about it: she is a being that embodies the concept of the unknown. There is a part FS were she is happy to have a specific legend. Why is she not in ULiL? Well, cannonically it is because she doesn't want to share details about her legend, since she is happy to have a legend that is about the fear of not having the full information. I don't remember the name, but there is a legend about a monsterous creature that was forgotten by time. And everytime someone got a bit of the story, it was like summoning it, bringing disaster around you. So people in Gensokyo decided to try to ignore the legend out of fear, and Nue was happy to scare them with fear of what they could not understand... Nue is the definition of a lovecraftian horror.

The only things that come to mind is that Marisa would have one less option to traverse the underground in SA, and the events of SSIB wouldn't happen, which you could argue might have surprisingly more consequences than you'd initially expect, but the Watatsukis being humbled probably saved some trouble in the long run even if there was no real threat to deal with. And of course, the events of EoSD probably wouldn't happen if we believe she's the one who actually cast the red mist, which realistically wouldn't change much in the grand scheme of things, other than the SDM crew not really integrating into Gensokyo. I would have said, maybe it would cause the SpellCard system not to exist if we assume Remi was behind the vampire incident, but it's not like Patchouli would need to play a role on that.

The Seeds of Unknown Form weren't what was scattered in the first place. The UFOs were pieces of the Soaring Vault, Nue simply disguised them by planting within each a Seed of Unknown Form. Also, without Nue instigating her "Youkai revolution" and establishing the Youkai as their own non-religious faction, HM would've played out very differently even if Mamizou had otherwise arrived in Gensokyo... and, of course, without the specific phrasing of it as a "revolution", it's possible Seija wouldn't have gotten worked up and started shit in time for DDC. Which would in turn prevent the creation of the Occult Orbs in ULiL, and likewise have prevented the Lunarians from making the inroads which would eventually lead to LoLK.

Well, first of all, There's two scenarios. With Saigyou Ayakashi Or no Saigyou Ayakashi. With the tree, the entire world would have a significantly higher suicide rate and a significantly higher infant mortality rate, along with a lower population in general. Without the tree, Shiki Eiki would likely find someone else to preside over Hakyugyokuro, but characters like Youmu and Youki wouldn't really be changed. Also, PCB won't be a thing, making Reimu not know Yukari, which likely leads to her losing in Imperishable Night, which in turn either makes the lunarians permanently make it night or another character would resolve the incident. Also, Mystia wouldn't have to waste a life.
