Piccolo should have never fallen behind man. The Z Fighters aren’t the same without Piccolo. Definitely one of my favorite characters to this day! I’m really hoping that with his new transformation in Super, he finally becomes one of the heavy hitters again!

I also like the idea of Piccolo teaching Goten the importance of training the mind as well as the body. Saying that you don’t have to be as passionate about study as Chichi wants him to be, but even Goku did some basic schooling with Roshi. So Goten slowly becomes more curious about Gohans studies and even wants to learn a bit more. Naturally Chichi is ecstatic.

This could work my only objection is piccolo being able to keep this under wraps for that long Cause we knew vegeta eventually starts training with trunks He will notice that trunks is either holding back if piccolo tells them to not go all out or he gotten massively stronger And would then likely lead to a all out spar with Vegeta and piccolo which would put alot of people on notice but that would probably lead to no majin vegeta cause at that point Vegeta found something to do he has new competition

The lack of Goten and Trunks is something that has genuinely always bothered me about Dragon ball. I think they have the potential to be some of the most interesting characters and most developed especially if you throw piccolo into the mix. It would be cool seen Piccolo, Goten, and Trunks more involved onwards. 🙂 Shenron unlocking their potential feel a bit too much right now. My idea would be they take a small trip to New Namek so Piccolo show the boys the Namekian Warriors on Namek, and this lead towards Elder Moore unlocked their potential with Trunks & Goten getting a boost like Gohan and Piccolo get a boost too, but also access to the Potential Unleashed Form only (For now). 🤔 Another idea maybe the Bojack Movie (Maybe set 2-3 years or so before the Buu Saga) is a way to show all this growth Piccolo, Goten, & Trunks went through, and a way to push Gohan & Vegeta into joining in on the training and uping their training in the process. 👍 Anyways another really good start to this new series, and looking forward to the next part soon.

I'm definitely going to enjoy this. The Gohan/Piccolo is one ky favourite things about DBZ and it's kinda interesting to actually see the Namekian have a positive relationship with the boys. Instead of some annoying sibling vibes. The boys going through the penchulem room gives Sparking Zero vibes, especially if they just sit back and spectate their dads first fight. Greater strength is always nice to eee in relation with the story and plot outcome differences but I'm just thinking of the trio, plus maybe Gohan and Goku having a DND game. Piccolo making them action figures is cute too.

I think even holding back on some of the crazier options like Guru/Shenron potential unlock and stuff the possible discipline that this can instill in Goten and Trunks would probably be a massive change even without the power increases. Obviously being so late in the timeline as mentioned does bring limits but even up to Superhero seeing how the boys will still be who they are but have that starting fundamentals and mindset could help a lot. And if they still learn fusion and stuff then they probably won't become as reliant on it but instead having it as the trump card it should be.

I feel like there's a lot of potential for this What If. Goten, Trunks and Piccolo deserved this level of focus and development in canon, and they're very much neglected in terms of growth until recently, especially with Goten & Trunks. It feels in character for Piccolo to take interest in mentoring the younger generation is very much in character. Much like with how Goku tracks down Android 17 in Super, I think Piccolo would be the one to track down Android 17 in the timeline, definitely prior to the Buu Saga so Android 17 and Piccolo could properly finish the battle they had in before Cell interrupted them. Piccolo, 17, Goten and Trunks could get training while taming the wild Cell Juniors on Monster Island early. Which you could incorporate into the appearance of Bojack and the Galaxy Soldiers in this What If.

Super saiyan 2 seems like a reach, as it took goku dying for gohan to unlock and vegeta getting his potential unlocked by babadi, grade 2 seems more with in reach. also piccolo would probably have the boys train with the other humans as yamcha could teach greater ki control, tein honing their martial arts and krillen teaching them the turtle hermit way

@captaind8152 Gohan achieved SSJ2 before Goku died not after, he actually obtained the form for the first time in the timechamber while training. There's also not a lot that suggests Vegeta didn't unlock SSJ2 until he became a Majin. Also because of the basic logic of db and how saiyans work the fact that Goten and Trunks got ssj1 as easily as they did suggests they can do so with higher forms far easier than Gohan Vegeta or most saiyans before them so that doesn't support your view of it being too farfetched lol

Not sure how much this can change with Diama considering the late start in the timeline and if Goten and Trunks are doomed to be turned into babies, so this would be extremely reliant how this affects Piccolo, Gohan, and Vegeta. Still could be interesting to see how Diama plays out before exploring this what if beyond the Buu Saga, and everyone sees in-character enough for me. Definitely love to see this what if continue and where things could go from here.

Considering how creative these three are, I wouldn’t be surprised if Trunks used the dragon balls to give them the power to fuse without the dance so they don’t have to worry about that part. Maybe even Goten asks Shenron to give the heroes a healing factor. Cause for whatever reason they face a lot of self healing foes.

The "getting into their interests" reminds me of Piccolo laying down to law, to Chichi of all people, about Pan's likes. He was not even playing any games with Grandma! One item that might need to be clarified, though. Maybe I misheard it, but you referenced fusion training and acclimating, but the boys do not learn fusion until the Buu Saga itself from the revived-for-a-day-Goku, right? Between potential unlocks and form mastery, they could easily have SS2 down better than Gohan and Vegeta, which would make Gotenks pretty busted, but do they even have knowledge of it? Of course, this IS Dragonball, any hole regarding knowledge can easily be written away with those (Shenron, we wish to know about and how to achieve all the available fusion techniques and have them written down in this book for later study.).

I don’t think the boys would fuse into Gotenks because Goku isn’t around to show off metamoran fusion as possible but I do hope he passes that on when he returns from the dead somehow. I don’t think Piccolo would get his potential unlocked because I don’t see him wanting to encourage the boys to take short cuts instead forcing them to grow as warriors through training, especially because he never used the dragon balls to unlock his potential until he thought he had to in order to defeat the new androids. I only potentially see Piccolo doing this given how strong the boys are naturally by virtue of being Goku and Vegeta’s children when they were so strong and s cells and god don’t get me started, getting his potential unlocked to ensure he was still above his mentees in power, although I think Piccolo would view the commotion that would arise from everyone detecting this power increase as too much trouble as it would be impossible to hide and he would not want his students to see him as a hypocrite or handle an upset Vegeta but if you were wanting to take the story in that direction I don’t think it’s that crazy. I don’t see the boys or piccolo getting crazy strong depending on what you view as crazy, but I think this would absolutely keep them relevant with Piccolo probably being the strongest Z Fighter if not tied with Vegeta and obviously excluding Goku and if Piccolo got his potential unlock form I seriously think he’d be equal to Ultimate Gohan. The boys I think would probably be strong enough to compare to their fathers or at least make them and Gohan need to use their higher super saiyan forms in order to beat them.

If Piccolo has the potential unlock done within a year of the Boo saga starting, that would drastically change the story. If Gohan and Vegeta found out about that level of strength, they’d take their own training more seriously too. Gohan would likely regain and surpass his previous strength if he had a year to do so. As for Vegeta, I could see him mastering super saiyan 2 if he had the motivation.

15:24 Goten and Trunks have equal if not greater potential than Gohan due to their higher concentration of S cells. If they were given discipline and a training focused mindset by Piccolo early on, I have no doubt Goten and Trunks could reach the level of Gohan in the Cell Saga (before SSJ2). With Potential Unlocking via Shenron or Elder Moori? They'd likely even surpass Cell in strength, or at least be able to fight on his level. Though due to being so young, its not their power thats the issue, but their martial arts that needs to be improved if they want to stand a chance against the likes of Cell, or later foes like Dabura or Buu. If we go the Shenron route, we could even see a Ultimate/Potential Unleashed Piccolo way earlier in the timeline. I dont think he'd be as strong as he was in Super Hero, but it would definitely allow him to contend with SSJ2 Goku and Vegeta at the very least, keeping him relevant for a little while longer. (Also on a related note, if they used the pendulum room, theres nothing that says Goten, Trunks or even Piccolo couldnt learn techniques from those in the past, either via direct teaching or by fighting them enough times, like the Kamehameha, Galick Gun, or even more underutilized techniques like Cell's barrier, Goku's Instant Transmission, etc.)

What I'd broly and goku went to earth and during the first time goku goes in the time chamber he and broly are trapped for 10 years which would pick up at the start of z. Kami asks broly and goku to become the guardians of earth broly accepts and goku declines. Goku still continues his off world adventures and broly defends earth. It's like 2 what ifs so like a solid 4hrs of story in long form if you're going fast or if you want to add boat loads of details it's a solid 8. 4hrs for each story all the way into the manga arcs

🤩Honestly, the changes are Absolutely Necessary and something that I think should have happened in canon so that we don't have The present tradition of the wasted potential of the hybrids, since we saw that the Duo were barely a part of Super even in the movie, Even there own spinoff comics felt shoe-horned in. So so you'd have my vote on this scenario and would love to see the impact of how to improve the Bojack movie and Buu Saga that it should have been and the better developments throughout Super.

Piccolo falling behind never made sense to me, during the android and saga, he was able to be keep up with super saiyans, and this is just him in nothing but base form, so basically, without super saiyan, the saiyans would be completely behind Piccolo.

I do hope goten and trunks actually live up to their potential and power in this what if, i think most of us can agree that these 2 especially goten have higher potential than gohan given the fact they turned into ssj at such a young age and that they were even close to gohans power that he even said he needs to up his game so the boys don't catch up to him Another thing, since goten and trunks i believe that piccolo training them earlier on will make them very powerful shocking goku vegeta and gohan and to have mastered ssj and be on the glimpse off ssj2 Super buu will be a great catalyst to unleash it I also dont think they should get the ultimate form as since they are more like their fathers and like training theyd wanna go stronger on their own and only rely on gotenks when necessary and to make them unique they can focus on their saiyan side while gohan is focusing on his human side
