I can just feel how painstaking it was to write this one, just because of how animus magic is and the fact Qibli had to talk himself out of the *very obvious* loyalty spell slipped into Darkstalker’s offer. Personally I agree there was a negative% chance he’d accept since Loyalty with a capital L is Qibli’s main personality trait, but I appreciate that these What If’s are trying to stick as closely to possible outcomes and in-character explanations as possible. A lot of What If AUs fanfictions for other fandoms tend to ignore those things. During your break I had worked out my own magic system, I gave it a hard power limit though that limit is kind of hard to reach, but the main thing about it is that the farther a spell is from reality, the harder on your body it is to cast. So, a fireball would be relatively easy, but transforming several objects into something else would be very difficult. Resurrecting people kinda works differently in this world but that is another can of worms, my point is I think I’ve created something that isn’t quite as OP and unexplained as animus magic hopefully 😂 Welcome back, Cyprus

Can’t edit or I’d lose the heart but the whole ‘hard on your body’ thing isn’t quite accurate now that I’ve had time to think and remember details. The better explanation is it’s very taxing on the *reality around you* to use a difficult spell, and since everyone in this world is made of magic regardless if they can use it or not, it can be very damaging to you and your magical composition, as well as everything around you Just thought I’d clarify my magic further since animus magic doesn’t want to ✨

Great video! This story was completely different than what I thought it would be about (Qibli turning evil after using his powers lot), and I really enjoyed it! I honestly never thought about Qibli accepting Darkstalker’s offer as being out of character. I do agree that it was more in character for him to reject it, but he was just so intrigued by animus magic throughout the entire book that I can see him convincing himself that he could outsmart Darkstalker. One of my reasons is that earlier on, he pretty much had himself convinced that could do good with animus magic without turning evil, despite all the historical evidence against that theory, so that could have clouded his judgement when considering Darkstalker’s offer. I think he does come to accept that he’s better off without animus magic in the end, but that wasn’t the case earlier on in the

I would actually be on Qibli's side here. I believe in darkstalker and that he can choose to be good with the right encouragement. Like it said in the video he didn't have a lot of positive encouragement and role models but if he did he likely would make better choices. And in a lot of my au's were darkstalker is good it's because someone was encouraging and positive with him steering him clear of his darker tendencies and encouraging his good side. Granted most of my au's this happens much earlier either during his era or starting while he's still under the mountain and or after he's released but still I believe this could work.

I haven’t read the books in a while) so that rules out mindreading And considering even Turtle and Moon, the most levelheaded members of the winglet, were getting heated, they were too mad to notice the lie detecting spell Or who knows? Maybe they’ll reveal that someone saw the spell go off in the season 3 finale

Overall, great video, and not as dark as I thought it could be. But you should've titled this, "What if Qibli became an Animus." I just think the change to the title could have given you more room to change story beats and avoid some of the problems you had. Like have Jade Mountain fall due to Qibli's carelessness and have that make Qibli more horrifed of himself, and maybe lead to Darkstalker ripping off the earing.
