You arent half bad there with the chaos emeralds being a conduct for Dark Gaia's energy because that's exactly how Sonic got his werehog form in the first place. Dark Gaia needed to be summoned by the dark energy inside the chaos emeralds, the huge energy rift this produces awakens the beast from within the planet's core in a temporary state as seen in Sonic Unleashed's intro, naturally Dark Gaia awakens from years and years of gathering dark energy into the emeralds, the concentrated dark energy over the years is then released into the planet and this awakens dark gaia because it feeds on dark energy and negative thoughts as how its seen in the different habitants of the planet being affected by some sort of dark negative depression sickness that's only at its peak during the night. Dark Gaia then eats all the dark energy that infected the world once was released by the Chaos Emeralds in order to get rid of the excessive ammount of dark energy and in the process it wipes the planet clean of anything that has been infected by this "negative sickness" and then Dark Gaia goes back into the planet and balance is restored until the same happends in another decade. The Chaos Emeralds in a way are a huge influence on any living creature because its strange and downright chaotic nature of being an unpredictable source of energy powered by thought alone, and i think the dark energy that resides in the emeralds are Dark Gaia's energy in a way and the positive energy that gives the emerald its balance is Chip's light energy, Sonic being a chaotic agent or an "Anomality" in the course of nature itself allows to transfer this into anything he touches, after all this isnt the first time that he transfered chaos energy into another person or object, Sonic Heroes shows that he can give part of his super energy into anybody hyper charging their natural abilities into near super form state.

Ok, liking where this is going. I love the classic werehog design! It reminds me so much of one of those kiddie show villains. Slightly menacing, but appealing for a younger audience. Also like how classic is just taking this transformation in stride and is still kinda clueless on harnessing the power of chaos. Also also, love that we're going back to the storybook world. Still a shame the mini series stopped at two games. Often wondered what a 3rd game would be like.

This is so far my favorite of the Sonic What Ifs. As for what might happen now with Alf Layla wa-Layla... Darkspine Werehog/s? That would be pretty cool to see design-wise, but considering that Darkspine is made from the the World Rings of Rage, Hatred, and Sadness who knows what that might do to the Dark Gaia energy in the Werehogs? Would they go berserk, would they somehow retain control of themselves? Who can say at this time? Not me, that's for certain. Fun to speculate on though.

Well this went in quite the unexpected direction, and I love it! Generations has a rather bare bones plot, so incorporating another game's events via time travel really spices things up. Plus I love the Storybook games, so them playing an important role is such a joy. I do have three questions though. 1: Have they traveled to before, during, or after the events of Secret Rings? I only ask since the last we saw of the lamp was Sonic tossing it into lava. (Though I suppose this might be answered in the next part.) 2: Is Sonic's idea of using Chaos Control to time travel a slight acknowledgment of him remembering the events of 06 (which was confirmed in the Japanese version of TSR) or just a coincidence? 3: Has it ever been stated that Classic Sonic in Generations is from directly after Sonic 1, or is this just an assumption? I'd never heard of this before. Great work, and looking forward to the next part! ( Side note: Classic Werehog is adorable!)

To answer your last question, The4thSnake actually did a Sonic timeline video, and in it he used 3 criteria to figure out which game Classic Sonic was from (Classic Tails being present, running through Green Hill during his introduction cutscene, and still looking like his Classic self), and only found one game that met them: Sonic Blast In other words, unless Sonic just randomly runs through Green Hill every now and then, Classic Sonic is from a little after Sonic 3&K

I believe it'd be a somewhat bittersweet humorous exchange seeing the two Were-Sonics possibly interact with Shahra. Since Shahra and Sonic were once bound, I don't doubt she wouldn't be able to recognize him. Maybe she'll offer to lend Sonic her power once more(Time and Speed Break), but he'd refuse due to his current state. Who knows, maybe the Secret Rings will come into play somehow ? I'll definitely be on the edge of my seat 'till the next entry.

Here is a thought. Because of the tiny amount of dark Gaia's essence, classic sonic is mostly speed but not as fast as he was before essentially being the inverse of Sonic's amalgamation form but both of them together makes up the speed of one sonic. This is where storybook sonic comes in with his genie friend. As storybook sonic has not encountered dark Gaia's essence, he retains the original abilities of a Sonic making the second Sonic that they need. To help stave off the fire arrow and flame that Sonic's life is tied to, they can hand him the time stones as well as Caliburn. The interaction between the time stones, Shahra's magical powers and as genie of the ring, and Caliburn should make for a unique and epic result for stories are told throughout all of time as does the wind that forever blows. To make up for his lack of speed, modern werehog sonic can pick the extreme gear once again now actually having a need for the gadget. This should make all three Sonics be functionally distinct and unique and I would love to play them.

This was well worth the wait, I was hoping generation's story would be way more intriguing then the game's actual story and this delivered. The art was amazing as always, most notably Dusk hog and Classic Werehog (also thanks for doing more then just "classic sonic BUT he tiny lol"). Never played secret rings so this is gonna be new for me. Alright speculation time! 1. Classic Werehog Since white space has some weird side effects on Dark Gaia energy, I wounder if this changes the property's of Classic's werehog form. Since he didn't seem to change when he entered the night in the world in secret rings. Maybe this could be a permanent werehog form? Maybe he doesn't have the ability's of Modern's werehog form? just something to think about 2. Shadow Given that Sonic's friends are taking a more active role in the story, after Rouge find Shadow and his "Damn 4th chaos emerald" he could help restore time. This hinges on the assumption Sonic's speed is what restores white space instead of the fact that he's well, Sonic (both are possible) 3. Possible Finale? Sega mentioned that Sonic didn't want to face dark Gaia, but what if his friends and Classic helped him undo him getting the Dark Gaia energy in the first place. they don't know if Dark Gaia can remove the curse (since that never happened in this timeline), but they could at least stop the event from ever happening. Time travel is fishy business so it might harm more then it would help but it would make one hell of a finale. that's all from me. This is really cool and fun but I have two questions. -How do they know they can time travel with Chaos Control when they forgot everything that happened in 06? -How does time traveling to the Arabian Nights work??? Dual Chaos Control didn't appear to be something Sonic _first picked up_ in Sonic '06; it seemed to be something he was at least half aware of, and it only took Shadow suggesting it for him to put two and two together. As for the world of the Arabian Nights, yeah, I'd definitely say it's another dimension. The Gens Official Strategy Guide actually refers to White Space as "a broken realm between dimensions." You could infer that it's a sort of "nexus point" for the Sonic multiverse. With that in mind, I surmised that a space-time rift could feasibly allow them to slip through the void and into the storybook world. The Encyclo-speed-ia even claims that '06 Blaze used Chaos Control to banish herself into another dimension, so maybe interdimensional travel is just something it can do. Imo, it's just one of those little plot contrivances. Thank you for those questions, Cx3-hope my answers were all right!

I have a theory on why Classic Sonic is not in mixed up of his normal form and werehog form just like his Morden counterpart is: Classic Sonic is not wearing Chip’s bracelet, if he was wearing the bracelet, then he would be in the same limbo as Sonic with his normal self and werehog self in White Space. It’s probably the same process of how Chip and Dark Gaia of Sonic having the ability of turning Sonic back into his regular self in the day, and werehog form in the night. However, Classic Sonic doesn’t have Light Gaia energy flowing within his body, so the Dark Gaia energy has completed on spreading it around his body without any blockish as White Space can’t make Classic Sonic in halfway form, as well as having a smaller body compared to Sonic’s. So, he’s lucky of not being some kind of mixed together milk and ketchup combination of how Sonic’s Werehog and Modern are formed at the same time.

Ya know, I never actually thought about Classic Werehog not being in halfway form! I must've been so focused on _just making him happen!_ You're right-it could be his lack of Chip's bracelet or that the dark energy in him is so small-scale compared to Modern Sonic's.

Yes, indeed Sega Scourge, I was not expecting the "Sonic and the Secret rings" plot point. I wish Generations did something like this. They can literally go in different points in time and don't use that to their advantage. Well done. You've managed to add story to Generations. Oh and that part when Modern Sonic was explaining Chaos Control to Classic, instead of him being able to do it right off the hook, good call. I wish, though, I could hear what Modern Sonic has to say about Chaos Control. Anyway, keep up the good work :)
