I myself feel like the fact they chose to have the same number of elements to path ratio makes it just so unsatisfying. It could've been really fun if they dropped a new element with the Rememblazer as well as the path drop. It also feels so out of left field since we weren't ever given the idea we'd get a new path, unlike Dendro from Genshin. And that is a game with a naturally off balance ratio of Weapon Types and Elements so it never threw anything off.

It really does, like if we had like 8 paths to begin with and 7 elements, the addition would have passed by me so much easier. But the fact we went from 7-7 to 7-8 just bothers my brain so much. Rememblazer is now of my favorite terms for this, I shall begin using it. Everything does feel really weird right now, I hope that if they choose to add more elements, this will eventually dicipate

@ManCarSua We just like symmetry too much! Also I have a term for this for every path lol. Preserveblazer, Harmonyblazer. I just use Trailblazer for Destruction because Destructblazer sounds odd but that'd be that one.

@@ManCarSua Closest is Destroblazer, taking it from Destroy, but it *isn't* the path's name so I'm not really invested in it. Plus, Destruction is the base path so Trailblazer shall work for it lol

I totally agree with you, adding an eighth element feels unnecessary. Mostly because the elements aren't all that important aside from breaking enemies. It's not like Genshin where the elemental reactions are a huge part of building teams and the game's meta. I'd rather they keep the seven elements but add more and more paths.

Exactly it would be more of an aesthetic style of change. Like, would it look? Yes! Does it actually add anything meaningful or fun to the gameplay? not really... I love that we got a whole new playstyle with Rememberance and I hope to see more paths being cooked by Hoyoverse. Or even allow characters to multi path honestly

If Star Rail were to get a new element it might be StarDust, as the Imaginary and Quantum Elements were originally from Honkai Impact as Battlesuits Types and StarDust is the latest Battlesuit Type to be added. Plus it's pink which I feel like would be very pretty for damage numbers lol

With Physical, Wind, Fire, and Lightning making up the DoT breaks with Bleed, Windshear, Burn and Shock while Ice, Quantum, Imaginary and StarDust/Stellar could slow and cripple enemies with Freeze, Entanglement, Imprisonment and StarDust could like further decrease a broken enemy's resistance if a StarDust Character breaks their toughness bar or deal True Damage based on the enemy's max HP after the broken enemy recovers and takes their turn like with Entanglement

@@bonkadork I never actually had thought of that, it would definitely be nice to have a symmetric 4-4 ratio on break vs DoT Weakness Breaks. Also True damage is so strong, and having the idea of enemies doing that to us too if they get the Stardust Entanglement on us sounds scary, but I love it

i want to believe trailblazer's path and element are "canon" and the path element for me best suited are (including the potential new one): Destruction - Physical (Gray) Preservation - Fire (Red) Hunt - Wind (Green) Erudition - Electric (Purple) Abundance - Earth (Brown) (NEW) Remembrance - Ice (Blue) Harmony - Imaginary (Yellow) Nihility - Quantum (Indigo?) ORANGE and PINK could be a thing and per what it does, > Trailblaze - ????? - Orange > ???? - Psychic - Pink I also always thought Imaginary (Light) and Quantum (Darkness), also quantum icon looks like a black hole if you rotate the icon horizontally, and IX itself is a black hole

Erudition with Electric would be awesome honestly, specially after someone mentioned how Erudition is often associated with Technology and Lightning is part of that. Having an Earth, or nature element would be neat, that way you can incorporate earth/soil/water into the mix, since we also have dewdrops on top of flowers in Abundance. Also an Orange and Pink dmg colors would be really lovely, I definitely would vibe with that. I also really enjoy the idea of Nihility and Quantum looking like blackholes to be what associates them!

I mean, if they do add an element to match either abundance, or Nihility. I could see it going either way. If lightning was with Nihility, it would make sense, since their only emanator is lightning, which leaves Abundance to have a plant element of something, since abundance is associated with trees. But Abundance with lightning can leave Nihility with a null element or something. But yeah, there’s probably not gonna be another element. It just adds another way that hoyoverse can promote a new character, while devaluing older units. … ALSO IF THERE WAS AN ELATION PATH, IT WOULD MOST LIKELY FOCUS ON BOUNCE DMG BECAUSE ELATION IS THE PATH OF CHAOS AND RANDOMNESS. Sorry, just needed to get that off my chest.

Honestly I really like that, someone mentioned Quantum looking like a black hole, which would be like Nihility, and then associating Lightning to Erudition to Technology and electricity, so I was a huge of that. I like the idea of a plant or even nature element to incorporate Water as an addition to the mastery of Abundance, especially since Dewdrop exists. A Null element does sound really cool tho, I am a huge fan Honestly a roullette based Elation unit would be hilarious, just have them spin to win with the attacks dealing assortment of DMG based on your other party members. Having bounce and other shenanigans be the main gimmick of a path sounds hilarious, I love that you mentioned that honeslty!

Qlipoth Physical is because Stones are Physical. Also Qlipoth lorewise is about building walls around entire worlds to protect Civilizations.

Yknow, the stones being physical makes a lot of sense, I like that. Especially linking that to the walls and protection of planets that he seeks to achieve via the isolation of planets to make sure they cannot be attacked by Leviathans

I've heard the theory that Robin being physical is because she believed in a harmonious reality. On the flip side Sunday being imaginary reflects his attempt at a controlled dreamland.

I honestly think that Erudition’s primary element would be Lightning. The reason? Cuz Nous is a robot, and robots are powered by electricity.

I feel like with every new trailblazer they always end up being meta somehow. PMC: the best sustain for early players HMC: the core for super break RMC: literally introducing a new path I feel like when nihility MC comes out they will be the ONLY unit to use this supposed new element

At some point in time I feel like they will be meta. Even the destruction trailblazer was for the beginning of the game and as a tutorial character. Also ngl they saved me when I had to fight Argenti the time that he had released. PMC was the best change though for late/mid game content and then Harmony MC popped off. RMC I am looking forward to a lot

Honestly, in that sense, DMC is one of the best DPS(early game). Like, his ult has great multipliers(just no second DMG increase like Xueyi's +% of break%)

Here's my rant for each path's element: Destruction - Physical - Because the Path of Destruction is all about the destruction of all things(and gameplay-wise, even oneself but somehow high survivability). Preservation - Fire - Because the fire the trailblazer is using, is the flames of civilization. You can go look that up, there's stuff about it in chinese mythology too(about the first emperor). The Hunt - Wind - Because it fits the element so well, because the Hunt must be as calm yet as fleeting as the wind. Erudition - Quantum or Lightning - Because technology. Harmony - Imaginary - The power of friendship being willed into existence. Abundance - Wind/Lightning - Wind may be a placeholder for dendro. Lightning, because all life is powered by electricity or smth(that, and there are ways to revive someone both in reality and in fiction through electricity). Honestly, this would've been the best with imaginary. Remembrance - Ice - Because ice can freeze the moment, essentially etching the memory into our mind and soul. Nihility - Nil/Quantum - Fugue and Rappa has shown us that there might be a chance for the Nil element, it reduces toughness bars much less than other types but it can reduce any and all toughness bars(because everything is pointless). Quantum, because it's also an Accretion Disc. Extra notes: Chances are, we'll be getting more paths and eventually there will be elemental powercreep among the trailblazer paths 😆

Honestly, I won't be surprised if we get Propagation and it'll make DoT great again. Note: I mean, you can multiply the DoT on someone. It works kinda like the Spores.

In regards to preservation. I definitely will be looking into that regarding Chinese mythology and the First Emperor. This may be unrelated, but when I read it, it immediately reminded me of the Flint Emperor in HSR, one of the heliobi, that is also known as the Priomorial Flame. So am very intrigued and will be looking into this! I also really like Wind being associated with Lightning and Wind there, it is honestly really neat Having a Nil element would actually be pretty sick as an omni damage honestly. I love the idea of Elemental Powercreeps, that does sound awesome Propagation being added would be neat, I would have thought at first it would be normal attack focused, given how it is in the Sim Uni. But then Rememberance has nothing to do with Summons (Unless they just choose to fully rework the path in future Simulated Universes / Divergent Universe new "season"). But yeah, having Stackable multiplying DoTs would be awesome!

Honestly that would be pretty cool. And you'd just have constantly the ability to ignore an enemies non-weakness break buff where they mitigate 10% of your damage The element of surprise

so for your first point about the path/type pairings here is how i'll pair them: destruction + physical/fire preservation + fire/physical hunt + wind abundance + imaginary erudition + quantum/imaginary enigmata + imaginary remembrance + ice harmony + imaginary order + ice nihility + quantum voracity + quantum Equilibrium + imaginary and quantum propagation + lightning elation + physical beauty + ice trailblaze + imaginary permanence i'm not sure because we know nothing about that path other then that long is the aeon of that path and THEY are the origin of every dragon species in the honkai universe and lastly finality + quantum in reality tho every path is imaginary, well there is 2 potential exceptions but thats diving into my crazy theories about adding a new element to the game, honestly i feel like it would be a very interesting idea and could maybe even save the elemental mechanic in star rail as a whole however before that they should introduce some more element related mechanics to the game for example i think something similar to the elemental resonance mechanic in genshin could be an interesting addition (and it would also give mono element teams more of a reason to exist). i also feel like a new weakness break effect could be very interesting especially if they make the characters of that new element have an actual synergy with their weakness break status effect. they can make paths have more of a general playstyle/role while elements can have more of a specialized playstyle/role

oh btw i do have an idea for what a new element could be and what it would do but its still a work in progress so i might put it down in a different video or under this comment. also if you want me to explain why i chose these pairings i can try to explain however i'm not that great at explaining my thought process so my explanation might end up being a little confusing

Abundance with Imaginary sounds really intriguing! I do enjoy the idea of Erudition being paired also with Imaginary. Also Order being ice does sound intriguing, tho personally Order felt more of a Imaginary too to me given how religious and based on belief they are. The beauty and Ice feels like a match made in heaven honestly. I also do like Trailblaze and Finality having sort of opposing elements. I feel like if they add a new element, it could be nice for them to be subtypes of another element, similarly to how how Ousia and Pneuma acted in Fontaine, giving characters a specific buff against some enemies, but without breaking the ecosystem of reactions/element weaknesses enemies have. I do like the idea of getting new weakness breaks, for more DoTs, freezes, suppresions or even something like a sickness status effect. I really enjoy the idea of Elements being specialties while Paths become more broad in their playstyle Also they need to revive Freeze, desperately

I have an unreasonable theory that nihility won't have a specific element but instead will all the trailblazer to apply whatever Break Effect they want, kind of like an omni elemental type. (Once again, i want to preface that this is a personal theory.) Also the trailblazer is the closest thing we have to a playable Aeon, lore wise, and the elemental pairings with the paths seem to make some semblance of sence.

I can see a new element being added to up element difficulty (less element coverage for everyone). But of course it won’t do much to change meta unless the weakness break effect is something broken like res down on weakness break, then its definitely meta defining.

I definitely like the idea of less coverage, but at the same time, it would run into the issue that new/returning players would find an even harsher environment to try to get into the game. So that is why I find it unlikely. A res down effect on a break sounds really fun honestly, even if a bit too broken Yet again, making whole new paths and playstyles could also be something that discourages players that are left behind now that I write it down

Something like Shadow and Light sounds really good. When you mentioned Death, I think what mostly came into mind was a sort of Decay DoT debuff, which sounds super dark but also really cool, and it would be nice to have that be an opposite to whatever the Abundance would actually be

I think nihility trailblazer would be really cool if it was the first character with no element Also, I would see Lightning being more fitting to the Hunt path and Wind with Abundance, going more on the vibes

Honestly, a No element/void character would be really cool. It would be enjoyable to see a character just output raw damage or benefit from an enemy not being weakness broken

Since I started playing I always wondered why there isn't a water element, having a character like Bailu and Dan Heng IL use other elements makes it even weird. Paths having canon elements make sense but some of them doesn't have fit certain elements. Paths like Rememberance, Destruction and Preservation align with certain elements but something like Harmony can be so many different elements since we can see anything "physical" about it, Nihility being Quantum makes sense gameplay wise but we already have an emanator with a different element and not having an element fits Nihility the best in my opinion. Also path of Elation uses all kinds of different elements in their SU blessing/equations so it doesn't have one either. In my headcanon some paths having canon elements for them makes sense for what they do (Nanook using fire to destroy or Qlipoth forging a wall with fire) but some paths doesn't have and need an element to function (Harmony/Elation/Trailblaze who doesn't have anything "physical" in their concept). Also I mentioned Acheron while talking about Nihility's element and not Herta for Erudition or Feixiao for Hunt because Acheron is the representation of Nihility's power and others only benefit from theirs.

It honestly was really odd that they didn't add a water element. Especially considering Bailu is part of their main roster of standard 5 stars. I do like the idea of Canonical elements on paths. I like the elation having all sorts of elements in terms of represnting how vast their network likely is. Because I assume that just like Sampo they got people in different areas sowing chaos and making stories for the Tavern to entretained with The idea of having no canonical element aligned with a path is pretty interesting, so I do like that

Imho, physical is a way better type for destruction than fire is. Because fire-type can also be used for Abundance or Preservation(fire of civilization).

Elements in HSR don't give that much compared to other HoYo games Except for breaking enemies and applying effects (shock, burn, freeze etc.) they just... exist Which is kinda sad because there are so many things they could do with elements They also started adding characters like Firefly and Boothill that just add their element to the enemy, which made elements even less important Instead of adding a new element, I think it would be better if they did something to make existing elements feel more important Great video as always! Yeah, they are mainly there to just mix and match weaknesses, but don't add anything BIG to the game itself. I do hope they do something to encourage freeze in the future though, I feel like that mechanic got long forgotten Hope you have a great day too!

I agree with most of this tbh and nihility, not having a respective element, but lighting not having a respective path also feels very out of place. Before rememberance became a playable path, the ice element had none to align with, but after we the rememberance path got annoucned rememberance trailblazer got announced shortly afterward, with the element of ice. This makes me believe that the trailblazers' path and element are representative of the corresponding element and path. So since destruction trailblazer is physical, the corressponding element to destruction is physical. Hoyo adding a new playable path to match the ice element for the trailblazer also leads me to believe that maybe they could add another new path, to pair with lighting, or even another element to pair with abundance

I do like the idea of a future path aligning itself better with the currently existing elements, that is something I definitely would look forward to a ton. In particular I like people mentioning that Nihility being more towards emptiness is most fitting towards not having an aligned element IN FACT, actually looking at the lore of the curios. There are the Sealing Wax Seals that are meant to invigorate people into another path, meaning that it is like having someone in emptiness be asigned a path/element and therefore new reason or purpose

How about Earth and Water? Like a unit with an Earth element could do an AoE earthquake attack. Or use vines and thorns to do DoT damage. A unit with a Water element could cleanse the whole team from Burn and Bleed . Or buff Electro units.

I know Enigmata is not a playable path, and there's a little chance that it will become one, but strongly associate the imaginary element with Enigmata. Just for similarities in naming, idk. Enigmata being the path of imagination, mythos, fiction, riddles kinda makes sence with imaginary element.

Honestly I don’t really see a new element causing that many problems, if anything it would be just as bad as adding a new path, at least with a new element you wouldn’t need to worry about investing in new light cones or having to farm a new trace domain, and since all enemies have multiple weaknesses, it’s not like you’d be forced to pull for characters in that element if you didn’t want to (though I’d imagine if they added a new element it would come packaged with a new TB path). + To add onto your point about break characters, I think break will stay a strong archetype for those who want to use it, but I imagine they’re gonna walk away from it eventually, so a lot of new characters won’t have the luxury of ignoring weakness type. (+ to an extent, most break characters perform better when the enemies correspond to their weakness type anyway) I agree that’s it’s probably unnecessary, but IDK just having 7 elements and 8 paths after them both previously having 7 is just weird to me, + it’d be kinda strange to have them arbitrarily reuse an element for one of the paths we haven’t gotten yet (they could always add new paths ofc, but I really can’t imagine what other roles they could create that wouldn’t overlap with other paths, I kinda think we’re gonna get remembrance and that’s it, so a new element seems more likely to me). Personally I’d really love to see the Stardust element from Hi3 implemented into HSR (Mostly cause it’s a pink element LOL). It’d be interesting if they added it and then created a meta based on CC effects or maybe they could bring some life back to DoT, I feel like there’s a lot you could do to make a new element unique and seem like a worthy addition to the game. This is more of a personal gripe I have but also I feel like some characters don’t really fit in the elements they’re assigned? Not just design wise but even lore-wise, (Black Swan, Dan Heng IL, March 7th The Hunt & to an extent Rappa in particular) so I think adding a new element could give future characters more freedom in terms of design too and if there’s a new element, all of the paths can be assigned to an element The Hunt - Wind Destruction - Fire Erudition - Quantum Harmony - Imaginary Nihility - Lightning Preservation - Physical Abundance - Stardust Remembrance - Ice Anyways, great video!! Yeah that is fair, I think I was seeing it to much in the pracitcal point, and I did overlook how a path also ends up being a burden on new/returning players. Thanks for calling that out. I do hope that, if they make a new element they give this with the new Trailblazer before anything else, or a free viable 4 star. Heck actually looking at it, they could give us a new element VIA march since she too can change her own path and outfits. That would honestly be a sick reveal with a free character. You are the 2nd person to mention a Stardust element, and honestly that has me really hyped for one, especially with how pretty the VFX would be for those abilities. It also massively bothers me that we no longer a symmetric 7-7 ratio in paths-elements. Like it feels all so weird and strange no longer having that visually pleasant parallel. The fact we had that perfect ratio ruined is what bothers me, if we initially had a 7-8 split and then that became a 7-9 I'd be more fine. I do agree that some character's element don't feel like it fits them, in particular Imbibitor Lunae and Bailu for me since they use water in their abilities. And March 7th hunt did feel like she should have Physical in my opinion

@ Yes totally!! I forgot to mention this in my original comment but if we were to get a stardust element, I think when we eventually get a 5-Star March, that would be the PERFECT element for her especially if paired with the new remembrance path, since in game they explain that March’s six-phased ice isn’t actual ice but it’s the closest comparison they have, so it’d make sense that once her true form is revealed, her “true” element is accompanied with that

Quantum elements seems like already forgotten because how weak they are 😂. Only jade tier 0 for quantum but that's only for PF which the easiest endgame 😂. If they make another new element, quantum will become irrelevant 😂

It is in a weird spot, just like Ice is too. The only ice unit in Meta is Ruan Mei right now (Herta too but purely for PF content) Surprisingly I think I find Pure Fiction to be my hardest Endgame from all the options. Apocalyptic Shadow is fun to crack down a strategy, but Pure Fiction seems annoying, so I am glad it is getting reworked

@ManCarSua for PF it's depends on your account if you have any good limited erudition and that alone can carry pf but that cannot be said for AS and MOC. Moc only having 1 buff and needing to avoid any units dying while AS always gonna be break oriented endgame.

@@buzzduel That is fair. Having a character variety is more crucial in PF as opposed to a super strong build. I still find that PF is harder because of the tight speed requierments. I often win just barely in the last round. While in AS and MoC I feel like I have time to spare. I probably am just playing TOO safe

The argument about Fire for Fire break is flawed. Of course you dont play Fire for Himeko or Topaz because they are Crit DPS. You pick Fire because Fire has the Highest Break Damage in the game; and therefore - You can play Guinafen as Fire Break Guinafen - The Devs chose Fire for Firefly because of Fire Break Damage - You can play Himeko for Fire Break Himeko Imagine if you had any of these characters as Ice Element. These Break DPS would be doing 1/2 their current Damage because Fire have 2x Break Multiplier while Ice have 1x Break Multiplier. In this sense, this is why every good Break DPS so far has been Fire and Physical. And the Devs are choosing these elements consciously. Fire for its 2x Break Multiplier is given to Firefly, Gallagher, Lingsha and soon Fugue. Physical for Boothill because it has 2x Break Multiplier AND %HP Break DOT which is very strong against High HP Enemies, fitting his single target design. Imaginary for HMC for the 0.5x Break Multiplier ensuring HMC themselves do not do too crazy Break DMG because of the heavily nerfed Break Multiplier despite giving so much higher Super Break Multiplier compared to what Firefly gives to herself. Imaginary for Rappa because her ult hits for like double the Toughness damage of most Break DPS. Her high toughness damage allows her to Break fast but they also had to nerf the damage by giving her the Element with the worst Toughness Multiplier of 0.5x with Imaginary, so her SuperBreak DMG is Halved as she does Double Toughness Damage. Conclusion: It is not the players that choose the element. It's the Devs that choose it. Therefore, Break will benefit from having another Element because right now, only Fire, Physical, Imaginary and Quantum really make sense. Fire for High AoE Break Burst Damage. (2x Multiplier) Physical for Single Target Break Burst and DOT Damage. (2x Multiplier + %HP Dot) Imaginary for low but frequent Super Break Damage with Delay for more Super Break Window. (0.5x Multiplier) Quantum for low but frequent Break Damage with Delay for more Entanglement Stacking window. (0.5x Multiplier) See how each Element locks a Character to a specific playstyle. You cannot make an AoE Physical Break DPS. That will be broken giving an AoE DPS extreme Anti-Boss Break DOT. The character can then play with Kafka to shred the Boss while they clear mobs with AoE. A Single Targe Fire Break DPS will be so much inferior to Lingsha and Firefly because Fire's main advantage is having that Extremely High Initial Damage. If you want frequent Superbreak, it's better to have something like Imaginary or Quantum that can delay enemy action. You cannot make a Imaginary Break DPS have Nuclear Break Damage because the base DMG Multiplier is still so bad, so you start off trying to apply Break Effect on a crippled DPS. Same scenario for Quantum. Which locks these characters to being "Fast and Frequent Superbreak DPSs" or Break Support. A New Element will allow for more Break Damage Type variety. So Devs are not locked to picking Fire for every Break DPS.

The point of that part was more focused as you pick the character for the playstyle, the element helps a ton, but the playstyle is one of they key factors you want to enhance when you are fighting enemies. And I do agree, some characters would be broken with particular play patterns and I like that a ton. This is not to say Break cannot exist in other elements, just mentioning that adding a NEW element would not be the most beneficial thing, because in the grand scheme of things, perfecting and making a path that is fun to play is what makes the units shine. So more based on playstyle

@@ManCarSua My Argument was more on the Devs being the one that chooses but.. thinking about it a few minutes later, they can always hyper-inflate a character's Break DMG Multiplier by giving them insane passive Break Multipliers if they really want a Wind Breaker with their 1x multiplier. Just give them the generic 1.7x Break Damage like Boothill but make it 3.4x, or Double Firefly's Super Break, or have insane Def Ignore to their Break DMG, etc. Soo yea my Argument is flawed too I guess.

@@aomafura3374 Thanks for clarifying that! I appreciate you correcting my misunderstanding on what I replied. And yeah, they can make a character be a break unit if they really wanted to. Speaking of a Wind Super Break unit, I have seen Feixiao be used in Super Break before because of her ability to do a lot of DMG in Toughness Reduction, even if that wasn't meant to be her role, it was clunky, but possible. We both had a few flaws, but it's all good. Thanks for having this conversation with me

I could be wrong but I'm almost certain this is not how super break damage is calculated. The numbers you are looking at are INITIAL break multipliers. The game shows the initial break multiplier and break dot multipliers of each element. Superbreak damage does not scale directly on the initial break multiplier, it simply scales on break effect and toughness reducing damage. This is why we have a character like rappa, she's not naturally doing 1/4 of fireflies damage just for being imaginary. Intital break multiplier only affects that initial break damage, which is nice for superbreak to squeeze a bit more damage out but it's nowhere near as important as your toughness reducing damage and break effect stats.

@@EyesDontCryYeah the formula of Break Effect x Toughness Reduction is the main thing that takes into account, that is also why Ruan Mei's buff is so crucial on Super Breaks, since she effectively nearly1.5x their damage Also, I mentioned Feixiao's ultimate doing a lot of hits and reduces an enemies toughness massively, she would do a lot of small bursts of Super Breaks. That was a misconception, apparently Feixiao ult only does 30 toughness reduction, same as any other Hunt Character
