Starlord was called 'starlord' because it was the nickname his mother gave him. Even amongst billions of star systems in our galaxy... All black people know each other... In my comic about well known demographics like cowboys, victorian's, natives, blacks etc I used stereotypes as the power system because I'm trying to get rid of this rubbish about every stereotypes being racist, at the most extreme, it should be seen as wrong or misguided not freaking discriminatory and hateful... Anyways, I made it so that every black people's mind are connected, that's why they know each other and entering a large body of water can block the signal... This is why they can all group together to form a large body of defense of one of theirs (I don't want to say how I incorporated is killing ourselves more because that's basically a plot point in the comic and it would take forever to relate plus I'm not sure KZbin is nuanced enough to understand the simplicity of it)... Anyways, they developed it from their days of slavery whereby they used it to get each other out of trouble by relaying messages in their mind and they used it to coordinate themselves when they fought for their freedom (the world isn't earth, even the continents are far from the same with all of them being connected apart from the orients... And unlike the rubbish comic, Black, every demographic have powers have stereotypes that everyone in that demographic share but use in different ways, not only black people, so that the enslavement of black people won't be mind boggling like it was in the Black comic and the audience won't be left asking how the fuck did they get enslaved if the white people enslaving them don't have powers... In my comic, the powers aren't very obvious and physical powers, like the cowboys have focus, the ability to boost a part of their body function, either eyesight or speed or reflexes or healing etc (the blacks power is called sanctuary, they can also swap body and for all the powers, they are always inwards, but a strong user can project the ability outwards like blacks would be able to read other people's mind on a normal day but a strong user would be able to influence their minds and stronger would be able to manipulate and the level 100 would be able to control it and as for the cowboys, the strong user would basically be able to stretch their bodies like Luffy or Mr fantastic, grow back new limbs, reinforce what they're touching, laser from eyes, cause vertigo for ears, sound waves for mouth, increase temperature into fire and synapses into electricity, transform into hulk like body or shape shift into animals or humans or clone themselves etc... Mind you they can only use one of these powers, so s strong user would have focused on one aspect and use only that so if you can stretch, that's all you can do and nothing else or for blacks, if you can cause illusions, you can't puppeteer or teleport etc)... Woah, I just got carried away and started talking about my story... Sorry, I just love stories... I've even forgotten what this comment was about... Oh well...

T'challa might've been able to hear about Robinhood because they would have knowledge of the outside world, either by internet or their missions outside of the country. Okoye knew about Starbucks in Endgame so it's not out of the question that they obtained outside literature and T'challa would have spent time reading them, seeing as he has an adventurous spirit. But adding in Thanos here when Peter never heard of him until after he destroyed the Nova Core is ridiculous. Gamora is the one who tells Peter about Thanos, T'challa should have never encountered Thanos and adding him in is nothing but a detriment to the story. They could have just added in Rocket and Groot and talk about how T'challa convinced them to stop being bounty hunters and join the Ravagers. They don't even use Rocket or Groot in anything else, but Thanos gets dunked on in every "What If..." episode he's in.

How did T'challa even convince him he's wrong the resources are finite you can redistribute the wealth or whatever but when the river runs dry that's it. All great points that I agree with. But here's another. WHY does T'Challa still have a accent? He hasn't been on Earth for at least two decades, and around endless aliens. All of which have their own accents and languages. There are ZERO reasons for T.Challa to still have the accent he has. His accent would have vanished within 5-10 years. Quill doesn't have a accent because he sounds the same as nearly everyone around him. One could blame the translator implant for this. Claim it makes everyone have the same accent as wearer, so they could more easily be understood. HOWEVER; T'Challa never receives a implant. And is, somehow, able to instantly understand multiple ALIEN languages at once. Lastly, history has proven, everyone forced into a society vastly different than their own at a young age, adapts that society's quirks and speech patterns. All of Europe is a great example of this. As Southern America more resembles former Europe's accent than modern Europe does. Peter Quill at least had his walkman to listen to. Thus giving him a valid reason to keep his American accent. T'Chilla had nothing hut a spear.
@FranciscoRamirez-nb4uu12 күн бұрын
To be honest I didn't even know Quill had an implant for translation, it never felt like the humans needed them to talk with Aliens and the movie itself didn't mention it if I recall correctly, if it was in the screen it was just an easter egg.

I don't think what Thanos said about Gamora's home planet breaks continuity. There are two other possibilities. One is that Thanos doesn't really even know that. He may not have gone back there to check because he's SURE that what he did led to prosperity. He might have a large sample size from which to deduce the same happened to her planet. The other possibility is that she believes Thanos is lying to manipulate her and that her people were wiped out by his army. In her eyes, this wouldn't be out of character for him. So whatever story he tells her, she tells everyone else the opposite. I have no idea if that intro card for her is definitive info or info in her files, but either way, it's possible that what Thanos tells her doesn't break continuity.
@kindlingking9 күн бұрын
It could be that both is true - her planet reached prosperity, but then got destroyed by some other cause Thanos isn't aware of, because he views his work on Gamorah's planet done and has no futher interest in it.

the christmas special broke what if's continuity 😆 this show actually establishes certain things that get contradicted later (for example, the second vibranium asteroid in BPWF doesn't work with Yondu's guys only seeing one strong source of cosmic energy in this episode) probably because nobody remembered the show

2 years late to seeing this episode so glad im not the only one who thought this episode was weird. It was clearly only made because the writers and producers new Chadwick Boseman was dying of cancer and wanted to write him as an all round badass. Which in my opinion is insulting to his memory

Couldn't Thanos also still make use of his gauntlet? They have one stone which would still probably be pretty useful in all these situations.

Maybe the original title of the show was too long for viewers, they reduced it from "What If, We Hire Writers That Saw Marvel Movies and Didn't Read the Comics"

11:15 I might be wrong, but if I remember correctly, she IS the last surviving people of her species. After Thanos killed half their people, the planet fell into ruin, similar to how Earth fell into a state of disrepair after Thanos' snap. Thanos just... Never checked Gamora's homeworld after the culling. He is the "Mad" Titan after all- he's definitely not sane.

Im going to play Surtur's advocate by trying to make sense of how Helas crown works by making stuff up. Helas crown could be like an animal's tusks. It is part of her and she can "grow" them on command just like her blades because she is a god and that is her innate power. And just like with animal parts you can kill her (somehow, i dont have an answer for that) and "harvest" her crown from her that contains some of her power (it can exist without her and she can exist without it). She obviously has enough power to break Thor's hammer Johnathan without it but she obviously wears it for a reason. It could also be looked at like a "cap summoning lightning with Thor's Johnathan despite cap not being a thunder god" situation. The tool has some of the power of the wielder.

I like how the end of this episode breaks more because it means Ego got what he wanted. He probably would have an easier time convincing Peter to go along with his plan since Peter's had time to deal with the emotional baggage from his mom dying of cancer, and we know from Guardians 2 that he's on the level Ego needs him to be for his plan to go off without a hitch. Shortly after the episode ends, Peter goes to Ego, gets absorbed, and many, many planets are buried by blue Ego goo. By stopping Thanos, T'Challa has inadvertently ruined life in much of the known universe.

Fun episode, i will admit, i did get a few chuckles, but they really could've done a better concept or explored this more seriously, that's the best way to summarize this series, it could have so many cooler concepts, but they go with the nost bizzare ones and just make them comical
@Grrk_Jr9 күн бұрын
If What If…? was good, they’d’ve made an episode titled “What if Wakanda Wasn’t Shit?” and the premise would be the Wakanda that’s implied by Civil War and not the abject nonsense that they became during and after Black Panther Also, I guess Civil War just didn’t happen in this universe. Because Civil War’s plot until after the UN bombing isn’t that reliant on T’Challa’s presence. Wanda would still blow up a Wakanda outreach program and T’Chaka would be there to die when Zemo bombs the UN. Wow, this is bad

Everytime I listen to Thanos, I slowly am convinced more and more that he was right in what he was doing. Not with the stones, but preserving species by reducing it's population so they don't starve themselves to death. Cutting the entire universe down by 50% is a bad idea because planets that were already cut down by half then immediately get cut down to 25%

Or the planet could've been reinhabited after the planetary genocide
@emilianomendoza26775 күн бұрын
I feel like Gamora's continuity break of being the last of her race is a bigger break than we're giving it credit. She went from a sole survivor of her planet to now just being a kidnapped member of it to help lend credence to Thanos' methods when there were other ways to do that without undoing her background. Their conversation also implies that she never went back to her home planet after joining the guardians to see that her home is now flourishing, which goes against her character in my opinion.
@puggietaur5 күн бұрын
Their conversation implies the opposite. If she went back to see her planet flourishing, that would precisely explain why she is unable to refute Thanos' point that that is the case. The scene makes sense if we contradict the "last of her people thing" and instead have it that her planet flourished, she went back to check as has Thanos, meaning they both have this information which is why it is taken as truth in the conversation, thus she has to appeal to the immoral method of reaching that
@emilianomendoza26775 күн бұрын
@puggietaur But it contradicts a huge fact of the universe is my point, when there were ways to work within the bounds of what was established for Gamora's background. It feels lazy, like they didn't double check that fact in Guardians 1 or just retconned it, which would imply that the Nova Corp either has outdated info on Gamora's people or they never bothered to check themselves to see what happened after Thanos attacked it. This change effects a lot about the galaxy and the competency of others outside Gamora and Thanos

of course, thanos was wrong in his reasoning about why titan is suffering as quill explains in infinity war
@slime_creeper81898 күн бұрын
Didn't Dr. Strange say there was only one way to beat Thanos? The Illuminati beat him but ended up all loosing to "The little witch" later on so at least there was another problem in beating Thanos in that way.
@puggietaur8 күн бұрын
i already find that plot point dumb in infinity war but technically he said there was one way to beat thanos at that point out of the 14 million futures he looked into, he didn't look into all of them. they didn't have tchalla star lord handy so that wasn't one of the 14 million futures he checked 😆
@slime_creeper81898 күн бұрын
I find it a little hard to believe he didn't try to negotiate in a few of those attempts. There is basically nothing as to why Thanos changed his mind and so no reason that it has to be Tchalla.
@Ze_eT8 күн бұрын
@@puggietaur Also, it's 14 million _futures_ from the point of Thanos already having most stones and having sacrificed Gamora for his plan already. I'd imagine the sunk cost fallacy at this point surpasses any argument, including Star Lord T'Challa's "good argument".
