Bo is not the only server playing TFB, and there's a lot of people on other servers who have naval autism. there's weekly new ideas and developments on naval meta, people try to refine the current meta or come up with new stuff to turn it around. and every update packer brings, slightly shifts the meta. It's not all that borked, you've just gotta read the code from time to time to fully understand the mechanics

Navy kinda feels like a coinflip, you either wipe the floor with everything or you get mopped. There's a mod where navy is more attrition based with less overall stats, less losses per battle and is more strategy based. That's how it should be imo, it's way more interesting to do navy like that

If Italy invested in screens instead of just submarines I don't see the allies winning this game. If his fleet stayed alive there was no way the Allies could have d-day'd with Japan also winning the naval war.

@@Indiscrimi I mean yeah. The Axis had a short term advantage in that the British, French and Americans had disarmed and needed time to remilitarise. China and the Soviet Union were both crippled by infighting. But the longer the war went on, the Axis were going up against: 1. The foremost industrial economy in the world (USA) 2. The largest colonial empire and the second largest colonial Empire with a literal world of resources at their disposal (British and French Empires) 3. The Soviet Union. Which although may have looked weak after the scuffed invasion of Finland, feeding into conceptions built up after poor Russian performance in WWI and the Russo-Japanese war, the Soviet Union was to become the second superpower. It's remarkable that they even had any success to begin with given that the game plan was "let's solo five dark souls bosses at the same time"

never knew Hoi 4s naval mechanic so broken, that one can win without screens. One of the reasons why i always retool some old ships into Torpedo destroyers or Cruisers, just so that my modern stuff kills the screens and then the Torps go in for the kill.
