This is really a great video my friend and I really like the idea of how the French turn the table against Prussians and other German states favor Austria over Prussia fear of Prussian dominance in Europe. Will, there be a part two for this or that it? Also, will this second French Empire become somewhat a semi-constitutional monarchy with the Emperor having limited political powers while the Prime Ministers and the Senate have political power over the government? Would the republicans try to turn France back into Republic? Would there be an outcry against the Republican party try to turn France back into a Republic? When Guillaume of Orange came, Britain became allied with Netherlands and ennemy of France. Also "What if Francis II of France lived longer ?" It's just because Francis II was the husband of Mary Stuart, with gave the Stuart dynasty to England

With the increasing friendship between France and Austria, and Austria not having to divert troops to Italy. I feel like it would have made more sense if France intervened in the Austro-Prussian war. Also I doubt the other great powers of Britain and Russia would be ok with France and Austria partitioning Prussia. Other than that, great video!

I think an easier way for the second empire to survive would've been Napoleon III enforcing his will in the leadup to the Franco Prussian war. Bismarck goaded the french into a war by editing messages and making them think their ambassador had been insulted, and Napoleon III under pressure by the public went to war, he later admitted he did not want the war. Had he enforced his will and not gone to war, the second empire would have survived. Just my opinion however.

Possibly, but there is a reason he felt so pressured into going to war. Both the right and the left were against him because of his social reforms, which came out as going to far for one and not enough for the other. Had he simply refused to fight, it would have been used to depict him as a weak ruler unworthy of his uncle. It would have likely led to a revolution. The Bismarck knew this, hence why he baited Napoleon the 3 the way he did. For this scenario to become a reality, steps would have had to be taken years before the war to consolidate his authority while undermining the rest of the government.

I would argue that with how awful austrias military was after the brothers war and with the internal Hungarian revolt building. That if they joined the French it would allow the Prussians to be pushed back slightly but then they’d turn their attention to the civil war that Prussians would no Doubt support. If anything the war would end with a white peace or minor concessions to the French and a loss of south Germany either in treaty or to Austria assuming the Hungarian revolt doesn’t cripple the nation

Honestly though the Mexican Empire would definitely not last, especially over the long period. As the US saw it as a threat th their sphere of influence, I could imagine an invasion of Mexico to restrore the old republic in the 1890s when they were trying to expand everywhere.

it would probably depend on 2 factors. 1. Would the French navy manage to do what the German Empire's had not, and actually stand up to the british? If France manages to innovate in the rapid advancement of steel ships at the crucial point where new naval technology advances into the modern age, then that isn't impossible by any means. All it requires is that France is dominant at the very crucial time when the War breaks out. as for land, I just dont see France losing. Allied with a stable and presumably much stronger austria, their great enemy the german empire not being a thing, and their only land border that might threaten them to the west being Spain, there is no prospect of a two front land war that the german empire faced. France will need to guard it's coasts against a british landing, but other than that, they will be able to focus their full might eastwards against whoever the british manages to cajole into fighting the french. The second empire would also be on way better diplomatic grounds than the first was, being friendly with both Italic papal states, and Austria. The only real credible enemies on the continent would be prussia, ottomans, and russia. and frankly i just dont see this alternate triple alliance losing to these. Frankly the only real danger i see here is german nationalism, and if the call to truly unify all germans under austria becomes too tempting for the austrian kaiser. However, even in such a scenario, if it does happen despite french protests, might not necessarily be a bad thing for france, depending on how the french empire treats this new superstate. If the emperor keeps his head cool, and resolves to keep the alliance between the emperors strong, they could end up becoming the 20th century French/English alliance of this timeline. The two former enemies turned allies that took on all commers through war and peace. The post ww2 era of our timeline proves that the game of european power doesnt HAVE to mean there cant be more than one massive power here. Of course this is one scenario. It is fully possible that in the event of german unification under austria, France does the traditional thing, and breaks it's alliance with Austria, which in turn means it will have to face it on the field, a battle it may, or may not win.
