Goofy thing is, we are a species that works best in groups... the bigger the better. Somewhere along the lines we got the idea that religion, shiny rocks and invisible lines in the earth were more important than cooperation with each other. Hopefully one day, our future generations will overcome the mistakes of our generations and those of our ancestors

Many of our modern technical advances occurred due to the world wars. Everything from Penicillin to jet engines, rockets, and even nuclear power (and unfortunately weapons). Without WW2 we would have NO satellites, mobile phones, or computers. The early work and investments in early computers were to enable rapid calculations of artillery coordinates and decipher enemy codes and messages quickly.

They say that necessity is the mother of all invention, and the World Wars made a LOT of new research and development necessary in a short span of time. Most of our modern day scientific advances were discovered or perfected due to the pressures of war, in fields such as engineering, chemistry, medicine, physics etc. WWII especially caused an ensuing explosion of technological advancement in the name of competition and fear of the enemy. Such staggering progress might not have happened if the world had been at peace for the past century. Furthermore if WWII never happened, then the Cold War would never have happened which thereby means there wouldn't have been a Space Race, meaning we wouldn't of had such a push for electronic advancements and satellites or have invented the transistor. We'd probably still be stuck with 1940s or 50s level of technology right now. Meaning no internet, no smartphones etc. For better or for worse, I doubt we'd be this far along tech-wise if the World Wars never happened.

I did a Research Study for Year 12. It was called, 'How do Wars effect Technological Advancement?' If you see the before and after of life throughout the world. You would see a dramatic change and increase of technology and rapid expansion and research. We'd advance further given the base instinct of each person. Survival. Doesn't matter which group in a nation you were. The base Survival Instinct thrived and the society as a whole pushes it further. Everyone works, everyone contributes to the collective survival. Ten years after World War One there was economic upswing. Twenty years after World War Two you would see a massive increase of disciplined workers and technology expanding into both military and civilian sectors. Growing and improving. War pushes a collective effort and collective mentality that ensures a advancement. Even post war. Money raised for war would then be turned to the civilian sector and with everyone returning home it would keep the population working with a new mentality.

As far as women's suffrage it could have looked different from what you showed. During WWII Teddy's young son died. This had a profound effect on the former president, one that he never quite recovered from as he died 6 months after his son from a heart attack. It is hard to say if he would still have the heart attack or not but without the war and his all his sons surviving, Teddy would have been healthier psychologically for recovery. Wilson would less likey win relection without a war as he and likely continue his opposition to women's Suffrage. Teddy was a strong proponent for it as was Charles Evans Hughes who ran against Wilson in 1916. If Charles Hughes then won election many civil rights changes could be enacted before 50's and 60's.

Teddy doesn't get elected whatsoever, anything past the year 1914 is hard to predict because it'll have the opposite outcome that happened in our timeline. By the 30s the world will look the same as it did in the early 1900s but more prosperous. By the 50s Europe's empires will be stronger than ever before, we likely won't have nuclear technology and noir will we be trying to get to space yet but then again that might not be the case since longevity of peace may have brought advancements in technology. Multiple wars are still likely waged across Europe, just not on a large scale that would be classified as WW1 or 2,

Now try to imagine the world with the Roman Republic falling before it became the Roman empire. That is a complete historywide change of events.

@@danielbalderrama4137 so just to begin , a huge Hannibal Carthage supporter. While true Hannibal had built the momentum necessary with his multitude of unbelievable wins but he lacked the siege equipment to attack Rome head on. Rome had imposing walls & Hannibal preformed best on the open battlefield. It’s true the Romans are probably only survived because they could hide behind their walls. Hannibal was very close to turning all of Romes allies against her. I think a Carthaginian empire that defeated Rome would have been a very different timeline. More wars between them would be inevitable & one empire would have to be crushed. It would all depend on if Macedon would help Hannibal in subduing Italy while also defeating Romes Allie’s in Greece & Pergenemom.

It's been implied that the reason Japan entered ww2 was because of restrictions on imports and their navy, and that we goaded them into bombing pearl harbor. If we allowed freedom in commerce and navy strength in Japan, who knows how different it might have been ?

Japanese imperialism/atrocities started well before Pearl Harbor. Asia would have been part of imperial japan, atrocities like nanking and comfort women would happen 1000 fold but the stories would never be told. This is due to the belief that the japanese emporer is a living god and the japanese people are therefore superior to any other race, races other than japanese are to be exploited and wiped out. The exact same war in the Pacific would happen, yet be far more difficult to stop if japans navy was stronger than in our timeline.

That happened because Japan was invading China. They were suppose to get permission from the league of nations before they invaded any territory. Just like how Russia was supposed to get permission from the UN to invade Ukraine today.

That freedom has to hit Japan before WW1. Japan at that time period had a power struggle between civilian government and Imperial military. The civilian government was unable to secure resources needed to keep Japan's economy running and expending. The Japan's military on the other hand had just come back from a victorious WW1... so the Japanese military decided on their own to solve the resource problem by simply taking it from China via military action. And it was wildly successful action and from that point onward, Japanese military was on the rise in deciding the politics and actions of Japan. Without WW1, the japanese military would not be so daring. With better commerce perhaps Japan could have secured the resources it needed without deciding that just taking it was a better solution.

The thought of an alternate reality without the two world wars isn't too great for me. I don't want to write much but nations with overseas empires would be more efficient to keep their territories a lot longer. There would be a few independent nations today. Without the birth of the United Nation, we would not have been able to solve our differences like today. I cannot think of a more reasonable alternative to the UN-centric architecture. Structure of world peace can never be the work of one man or one party or one nation. It must be a peace which rests on the cooperative effort of whole world.

The two WW had some crazy ripple effects. Yeah the Scenario is the best case scenario you wrote down, not to forget big wars would still be "normal". Many taboos in politics are having their roots into the experiences of the horrors of the two WW. And right now we see the consequences when these taboos faded. The two WW created the 20th century and the world we live today on so many levels without them it would create a butterfly effect and it barely turns into the best way scenario. Like you pointed out maybe without them we could be dead today.

World Wars were inevitable. It was more like a fight between different kind of ideologies future humanity will take. And once every country was connected, it was time to decide on who was right or wrong and instead of peaceful debate war was the most effective and primitive way.

Ayyyeeee my great great great grandfather Ciro apparently served (with?) Prince Ferdinand. The details are super fuzzy, but it’s been passed down that he was drafted in Austria when he came back from the US in approximately 1898. He served in the national guard (best comparison I can give) & he either served alongside Ferdinand briefly or protected Ferdinand (like security) briefly. My grandfather immigrated from the Malosco area to the US in like 1901 after his service.

This alternate timeline doesn';t account for Franco in Spain or Mussolini in Italy. I think there's a good chance that their ambitions would have dragged other countries into a continent-wide war. Or conflicts in Africa or Asia, Japan's invasion of Manchuria, escalate to Europe too. It's a nice idea though, that millions of lives could be saved by changing one event.

I have to point out that even though wars didn't happen for nuclear weapons to develop, Enrico Fermi already had discovered some nuclear-related tech, and Albert Einstein made the equation "E=MC~2" in 1905. Also, radioactivity had also been discovered earlier. So, the nuclear weapons may have gotten more attention than you said as they made sustained nuclear reactions (like in a nuclear power station) before they turned it into a bomb, for testing purposes. Hope this helps you!

For many years I've been trying, as a sort of thought-experiment, to construct an alternate-history world in which the wo world wars never happened and the twentieth century was largely (although not completely) peaceful. My initial plan was to have Princip fail to assassinate Franz Ferdinand and his wife in Sarajevo, but I abandoned this on the basis that there was still a strong chance of a major European war breaking out in the next few years. I replaced this idea by making a few tweaks to 19th-century history so that Germany was unified without going to war with France and that Europe was not divided into two rival alliances. I must say that a lot of your ideas about what the twentieth century would have been like seem to parallel mine, including some of the possible downsides, although I don't have time to set them all out now.

how???? Changing the history before WW1 changes the entire world at that point, Germany could never have united without a major war, that's a sad truth but the truth indeed, many of the German states were anti uniting and Austria Hungary wasn't going to let Germany destroy it's influence, there is no possible way your world could even parallel the extremely false predictions they made. None of the predictions they made except for lack of rights for minorities was accurate, Europe was destined for war and changing the history that set Europe up for global war would change the entire world and nothing would look like it did in the video.
