Glad Andrew intelligently “stuck to his knitting” here, where he has so much to add within his area of expertise. (By immediately saying he focuses on his own business which is itself not “crypto” but offers info of use to all, eg immediately offering an update on Dubai to his interviewer.) Loved the recent Bogota home tour, with leafy greens in midst of the city, etc, every detail down to the tapestries by indigenous people. Wondering why I ever considered the UK - esp London - to be safe or desirable. I’ve been subject to several brazen criminal acts in the center of London in broad daylight, and the long-standing infrastructure is crumbling while basic internet resources needed by virtually anyone (from individuals to large businesses) do not to work reliably. Industry is in widespread agreement that government plans for action “by 2030” are impossibly slow. Some may love living in the UK, esp London or the charming countryside, but maybe just billionaires or those who’ve not traveled much, or have fealty to the ground itself. (Many retain a comforting feeling as to the nation of their, or their ancestors,’ birth). “Working class” people in the UK often say they are themselves leaving for “a better life,” and putatively a study shows “more millionaires left” the UK in 2022-2023 (in absolute #s or by some percentage; - mmm hmmm, of what?) than in any other nation save one. The study may have unreliable aspects (I saw only a synopsis) but it seems that those subject to high tax (nearly everyone) yet less able to insulate themselves from growing negatives might just pick up and leave. *For those saying you don’t need help: maybe you can figure it out on your own, but many nations are surreal despite ostensibly having a path to residency, passports, etc. if relocating initially with a large multinational company, you’ll perhaps have “someone like Andrew” (without even knowing how fortunate you are) who specializes in the countries (1+) where it does business. If not, eg you “are” or own your own business, retired, etc, do not underestimate how difficult, even surreal it may be.

One thing I noticed is: originally there were lots of libertarian and less tribalistic followers here. Almost 10 years ago even Peter Schiff did collaboration with you. We believe in low taxes and fewer regulations, but aren’t necessarily political conservatives. But as the follower base grows, the topic regarding low taxes and other libertarian ideas naturally attract some hard core “wa wa proud to be American” type of conservatives simply because they happen to believe similar economic policies but refuse to go where they’re treated best. And then I started to notice more and more tribalistic rightwing Americans here too. Hope people understand this is about being a really free individual, not a tribalistic thinking, American first believing, America must dominate type of nationalistic channel. Sometimes these hardcore conservatives who believe US will always be best and they will save it should just actually travel more to open their narrow minds. Love your ideas. Have to admit a man like Donald Trump is indeed inspiring. It’s incredible to see a man fiercely march through resistance with his beliefs. Hope you inspire more to think outside of their nationality and the subsequent tribalistic minds.

I am not inspired by any mere human (any man or woman)-which may just demonstrate I’m “too old.” Some who “follow” Nomad Capitalist do not have strong political opinions, and do not necessarily favor a candidate. Wise people in business generally do not take political positions on particular candidates (in any country). I’ll blather on a bit below but may later delete much of it. One might ask “why only these options?” (for US citizens). You may find one inspiring, and it’s great to feel inspired (I once was, for communitarian goals, which each major US party has, however different those goals may be). Setting aside this upcoming election (so as not to be contentious here), *the US continually has an issue (problem) finding options for leadership*. Some of us watching the USA - over time - feel sadness, and/or nostalgia for America. For me, it’s not the nostalgia voiced by some of the “mainstream right” or for that matter, the “mainstream left;” for me it’s a cultural shift toward lawlessness. I have a libertarian streak (autonomy first), however I do believe in sufficient market regulation so capitalist markets can actually work (if there’s an environs of zero trust, markets can’t work), plus consequences for violence (keeping order), *and* in making basic provisions for those who are most vulnerable through no decision or fault of their own (eg, abandoned infants)(an easy example). I’m not even “endorsing” Elon Musk, a naturalized US citizen, however he sees something many ordinary Americans (even privileged) do not: The US does not need “more laws” it needs to attend to “selective enforcement” (including non-enforcement) of laws. He has come out for your candidate recently, yet he wanted to use an unused X (Twitter) office building in SF as a homeless shelter (maybe part prank, but I think he’d have done it if not overruled by a landlord and zoning, ironically).

Andrew, it would be very interesting to hear your thoughts on the USMCA. Last night Trump mentioned that he wants all automobiles sold in the US to be manufactured in the US. Living on the border I see first hand how fair trade benefits countries. If automobiles were 100% manufactured in the US then prices for those automobiles would go up significantly. I also live in Mexico and I see how nearshoring benefits the country. In your opinion what measures should Mexico take in its response to the potential of loosing its automobile manufacturing plants?
@MaryGwenDungan

Well, calling for it and having it happen are two different things. Remember when he tried to keep Harley Davidson in the US? Plus, he's appealing to the Rust Belt voters who imagine mfg will come back. Likely, not.
@leemartinez2975
@leemartinez2975 Ай бұрын
@@MaryGwenDungan Manufacturing can come back, the trade off will be higher prices for automobiles, TVs, home appliances, etc. Hondas sold in the US are manufactured in the US. However part of the reason the Accord and Civic which are good cars, are priced at around $30K is because many of the components are manufactured in countries like Mexico. The prices for LG TVs are very competitive. LG has a manufacturing plant in Reynosa right across the border from McAllen. We can only speculate how much a 75 inch LG TV base model would cost if manufactured 100% in the US.

We need power to develop this technology, the talent to innovate, tax incentives for business and geopolitical stability. Trump wants America to compete and ultimately dominate in tech. We’ve seen energy independence during the last term, if we can return universities and corporations back to achievement based vs meeting these ridiculous quotas, we’ll have the talent, we saw pre pandemic businesses being incentivized to return, provided we can push back on mass low skill and criminal migration, I believe we have a chance.

@@nomadcapitalist unfortunately I believe the dumbing down of the American public is a calculated approach by the ruling establishment. Culture on such a personal level either has to come from the family unit or it must be the dominant view in the society as a whole as we cannot expect most people to think for themselves. The family unit has been under attack for at least the past few decades and America has the world's highest rate of children living in broken households - the statistic could reach 50% fairly soon. Such an environment is not constructive for a child to develop in and this trend won't change due to the faith in the leftist policies that facilitate them. This leads to the bandage approach of a totalitarian society similar to China's where for example restrictions are made in the use of social media - Tik Tok legally stops being a tool for young scantly clad dancers and transforms into a tool for education and event advertising for higher studies. My two cents.

Hmmm, I'm in AI. China has no chance at all. It is a software problem that is first a hardware problem. As long as China is behind at 14nm (the size of transistors on chip), it will never catch up to the US. We went through a 7nm cycle, then a 5nm cycle, we are now seeing 4nm chips, soon 3nm will be announced next year, and we already have a process for the 1nm chip. The difference is so exponential that I am having trouble putting a number on how much faster AI models are trained here in the US. As long as ASML doesnt sell their lithography machines to China, and as long as TSMC doesnt get overtaken by China, then the US has a very profitable future. Doesnt matter what happens short term, the country who controls AI will just be very powerful😅 and the US already kinda is :S

@Testruecast
@Testruecast Ай бұрын
This comment is incorrect in many ways. I will explain. 1. China is already being able to produce in house -7nm high silicon Chips. 2. The size does not determines computational power. Computational power is determined by the whole architecture. 2. China (and Taiwan) are the producers of the architecture. The US has just design Intellectual property rights. 3. Besides AI China remains top supply chain global behemoth by far. No comparison at all with the US. 4. Huawei keeps learning, and it will follow the traces of ASML. Yes, ASML is leading, but it is delusional to think that it will be forever. Also, the US cannot (never) have in house micro chip production technology. The reasons are various and complex. China can (as well as Taiwan). 5. Besides Chips, you need hardware, China is by far the leader. No competition at all. 6. There is the possibility of quantum computing. It will erase the competitive advantage of customary Chip production. 7. China has been working (real case uses application) on AI far before the US (with the exception of LLM and driving). No reason to believe they will not continue. 8. Current Chinese (open source) LLM are reaching or outmatching industry elite Western LLMs (Including Claude and GPT). 9. No body can yet predict the upcoming years.

Biden represents oligarchy? Give me a break. Biden is a beige, boring, run-of-the-mill old institutionalist from a working class background. Trump is a billionaire nepo-baby and a felon convicted of business fraud. He asked for $1 billion in campaign donations from big oil in exchange for blank cheque deregulation, and is taking $45 million per month from Musk in exchange fir an advisory role. The White House will literally be for sale under Trump, and the billionaire class knows it - which is why they’re flocking to him in their droves

You can still travel the world with any decent passport. Live it, well it may take some time but anyone can do it. Nomad Capitalist is clearly meant for the 1% which is fine. I'm sure the wealthy have their own means to figure it out though, so I'm not sure of NC's scope. When you have a ton of money you get lazy and ask for more services like these right? NC targets the wealthy who want to move money that's it. Bottom line, for most people, this service is not worth the cost. Just go to an embassy of your destination for free info. The most passports the average person will need in a lifetime is between 1, 2.... 3 is a stretch. It's not a life to live when you're constantly looking for one.
@Cuttuttlefish
@Cuttuttlefish Ай бұрын
Yeah this is the truth. Their real service is just multinational tax accounting. The rest of the waxing lyrical about lifestyle stuff is just product differentiation spin and a way to make a bit of extra money with the KZbin channel part of their business. If you just want to move countries you really don't need a bespoke service for that, it's not hard and certainly if you've got the brains to have earned a decent nest egg to start with you definitely already have the brains to sort out some trivial migration paperwork. They may get a few additional clients by convincing people who have money but have never tried to move somewhere that it's more difficult than it really is though and make money that way as well, I'm not too sure, but I'd wager probably not because the subset of people that are both that rich and that stupid is pretty small.

@@Cuttuttlefish Actually, I thought the same (not about NC but a site selling costly services to anyone trying to live in Switzerland without the most immediate requisites - which are *not* “financial” alone). It is however quite difficult to get established in many nations. Surreal bureaucracy maybe you eventually can cut through alone but could hire someone who does it routinely to do instead. That’s if you wish to spend time LIVING (the “lifestyle thing”) in a nation which has lower taxes or otherwise “treats you best” (overall; in your specific circumstances). The bureaucracy can be SURREAL, so I can see many reasons to delegate this work for a fee(s). This is from someone who prefers to do everything “myself” (and micromanages services outsourced, not trusting they’ll be up to par)…. Depends on where you hope to go, how long, how difficult to find suitable housing, whether you want a lot of passports or also a lot of places to live. I once thought I should have “at least two of everything.” At that time I did not think that notion included necessarily having multiple homes and residencies/citizenships or passports. I now think I was wrong. I have the “smart” label stamped on my forehead by educational and work/other “achievement,” and walking into work where I earned more than I expected (but mainly loved the work, odd as that may sound). I now think I could’ve better preserved my options (earlier) to live in many nations, freely coming and going.

The USMCA comprises the entire North American Continent. This continent is blessed with more natural resources needed by the world than any other. Their population is well educated and willing to work. The supporting infrastructure while old is still better than any other continent of earth. Consequently, the full cooperation of Canada, Mexico and the US in the USMCA will easily undersell anything the BRICS nations have to offer. In the commodities of agriculture, energy, technology and Transportation, BRICS nations will cut each others throats to buy USMCA's cheaper commodities.

As always, Andrew, thank you for doing what others of us who came before were too dull and too frightened to do. No single person can turn around processes that were set in motion many decades before. I know you like to concentrate on financial stuff, and those are important. However, other elements are more important, such as the Common Law traditions of English speaking countries - which are the foundation of the best systems for accumulating and keeping wealth. That they are all sliding into unfortunate forms is painful. That there are taxvantageous, nice places has been a fine option for the savvy for a long time. But pleasant, honest, stable, 14,000 person tax havens with no natural resources don’t remain independent without the threat of 350 million tons of steaming democracy coming down should evil decide to get naughty there. Why does a dictatorship such as Singapore do well, have rule of law, etc. Doing so is in its economic best interests, not the preservation of rights, no matter wealth. New dictator, new sheriff in the region, who knows where it goes? To complete the circle, America is sliding towards just such an arrangement. One half of the country already think of the presidency as a revolving dictatorship. How do things go for the wonderful places where you are treated better once the declining muscle is removed? I guess we’ll see soon enough.

I'll never be able to afford Andrew's services but I enjoy his content and have learned a lot from watching him. I will be retiring next year and considering a move to Europe. One thing I learned from Andrew is to check out the tax treaties - US retirees living solely on social security, pensions and tax-advantaged retirement accounts (like my wife and I) can live virtually tax free in France, for example, thanks to the US/France tax treaty. Same for Malta, although there is a small minimum tax which would be taken as a credit against my US tax obligation. I'll keep tuning in, if for no other reason than to catch him doing his spot-on Trump impression...
