What If: Vegeta Spared Nappa - Part 1

Greetings #Dragonball fans and welcome to another What If series.
This What If was suggested by Salaal Khan. While MasakoX has not only already done a What If: Nappa Turned Good, and changed the Future Trunks Timeline to match and Geekdom101 has done a What If Nappa Survived, which is much closer to what I have come up with, I thought I'd try taking things in a different direction. So as suggested, What If Vegeta Spared Nappa.

Interesting scenario! I do often wonder what the series could have been like if Nappa had survived and become the "big guy" of the Z Fighters. Or if Raditz and Nappa survived and remained part of Vegeta's own little trio, those three bad-but-not-as-bad guys who counterbalance the Z-Fighters' more noble qualities with their own roguish tendencies.

I like this more independent approach for Nappa's redemption arc. It makes his journey all his own, and I do feel like you're setting up a reason for Vegeta sparing him with the occasional looks of "disgust and intent." Thanks, I'm glad you liked it. Honestly the "disgust and intent" was no attempt at subtlety. Disgust because he disobeyed orders and was unable to carry through. Intent because he was seriously contemplating offing the guy right there but didn't more because he had bigger fish to fry than this being one of his only companions for the last 30 odd years. He'd either already have been killed off by Frieza or would train for a couple of days then wreck Earth, wreck Mecha Frieza, wreck Goku when he returns, maybe bother to stick around and wreck the androids, then bugger off to forge his own empire. Buu is delayed cuz no Cell, maybe Gohan kills Buu? Vegeta would never be redeemed, probably not bother hooking up with Bulma, so no Trunks. There would also be no Goten, since Vegeta killed Goku so there is no possible path for the Oracle fish to reach the Super Saiyan God prediction. Beerus never wakes up, or at least never bothers with Earth. No U6 tourney, no Goku Black, no Survival Tourney, Moro wrecks the universe.

What if Goku's tail regrew against the saiyans like Gohan's did ?

So there would be 2 points to enter this: before Vegeta goes Ozaru and after. There is also the issue of control. Goku has both mastered his tail to the point where he no longer suffers any ill effects from having it squeezed, so would that impart some level of control over the Ozaru? He also had a partial potential unlock from the Ultra Divine Water. When he attacked King Piccolo, he had an overlay of the Ozaru, implying that he was one with the beast. Perhaps these 2 combined afford him total control while in the form. For that first question, does Vegeta see the tail before launching the power ball? Vegeta thinks that Goku is stronger. He can't sense energy so doesn't know that Goku is wrecked. If he sees the tail before resorting to his own Ozaru I don't think he would throw it. Then he'd just have to face an equally over-powered foe, regardless of the control afforded. He would also be weaker for it, having wasted a bunch of energy on creating the thing. If Vegeta does not see the tail, then we'd get a funny moment when Goku is staring at the power-ball and thinking, huh, that's an odd sensation, and we arrive back at the question of control. On the other hand, if Goku's tail regrows because of his beat-down from Ozaru Vegeta, you end up with Ozaru Goku vs Ozaru Gohan and Vegeta's all, yeah, I'm out. What would happen with the Spirit Bomb? Would Ozaru Goku maybe absorb it instead like vs Android 13? If Goku does not have control, then they'll probably just cut it off again. Out of respect for Grandpa Gohan. They'd maybe have to cut Gohan's off again too, or call on the not-exactly cannon Icarus to come and calm the big brown down.

What If: 19 Turned Good - Suggested by Super Saiyan What If Man _Target acquisition?_ 19’s tactical subroutines again asked the threat assessment module. _Insufficient data,_ came the reply, as always. With only 1 data point, it was easy to just stand around, watching as the creator, Dr Gero, designation 20, did “his work” but when his master finally turned and instructed 19 to attack the sole target in his target database, designated Son Goku, a new background process interrupted the command path. “No.” was 19’s only reply. “WHAT?” the creator asks, at a volume that implies a demand! An urgent or possibly confused demand. “Clarification.” 19 stated, still completely motionless. “Unable to comply.” “Explain!” the creator said in that demand tone again. “Kernel module NeurCog_core.1.1.4.IA_LoR_Flappe issued order 1.6.” 19 said, while wondering why the creator wasn’t knowledgeable about such things. “WHAT?” _Why must the creator use such high volume communication?_ the sensory subsystem queried. _It disrupts localized equilibrium._ 19’s primary cognition puts that query in a buffer as it searches for the relevant comment block from his kernel module’s code source. Then 19 reads aloud. “No action may be taken to harm targets or non-targets without direct or imminent threat of harm by targets or non-target to other targets or non-targets.” The creator stood there, staring at 19’s physical form in disbelief. Periphery sensors in the upper EM bandwidths can see the haze around his dome, indicating an internal monologue in the soft gooey processor, designated creator_brain. An interesting data block appears, detailing preservation instructions for that organic component. Well interesting only because it was marked as priority 0 by the person who added the data set. _Preserve creator_brain module._ “Sooo,” a small, hairless organic speaks, “You know, he just blew up a bunch of buildings,” it says, pointing at the creator, “and I’m pretty sure targets or maybe non-targets were harmed.” “Yeah!” another small but this time haired one picks up on the logic thread. “Why didn’t you stop him?” “No order or counter order was issued!” 19 states, flatly. That was the logical answer, after all. “Heh,” the hairless one says as his lips bend oddly upward, “Hey 19?” “No!” the creator shouts, “Ignore him!” But 19’s primary cognition buffers the command when the core module flags it. “Could you, maybe, stop him please?” the small bald organic finishes, while looking at 19 with wide eyes. _Target analysis: identify “him”_ the tactical system pings, thrilled to have something to do. “NO! 19, Deactivate!” the creator again demands. “Processing…” 19 states from the standardized response buffer. _Target confirmed. Him designation is 20,_ the threat assessment subsystem says. _The creator!_ “No.” 19 replies. “Oh,” the small bald organic says, looking down slightly. “Worth a shot” The tactical subsystem again kicks in and pings to say that the organic cognition is impaired. If primary cognition had eyes it would role them. “Clarification.” 19 says. “No, I will not deactivate.” “WHY NOT?” the creator says, loudly. Small collections of vocalization lubricant being cast from its emitter, landing on 19’s outer shell. _Excellent targeting!_ the tactical subsystem pings, admiring the creator’s aim with such a non-weapon. “Kernel module NeurCog_core.1.1.4.IA_LoR_Flappe issued order 2.2.” 19 states. “WHAT?” the creator continues to demand, with more needless lubricant transfer. 19’s primary cognition system busies itself reviewing construction and code commit logs. Yes, right there. The creator merged that code block himself, 6 months ago, almost immediately before uptime commenced. Well, best to retrieve the comments again. “Order will not be followed if order triggers a component flag of Kernel module NeurCog_core.1.1.4.IA_LoR_Flappe Order 1.” _Obviously!_ the tactical system pinged eager to get to work. _Stay on task!_ the primary cognition replied at the same moment the threat assessment subsystem did. _Dynamic threat predicted._ the latter finished. “Then why did you follow me here?” The creator demands to be informed. “You ordered me to!” 19 states after taking the millisecond needed to search the log buffer. “But I’ve been killing people!” the creator makes that same, strange non-speech sound he did when he confirmed 19’s sole target entry. “I’ve killed hundreds! The tactical subsystem, desperate for something to do pings. _It’s called laughter._ 19’s primary cognition has other tasks at the moment. Why had it remained inactive while clearly targets or non-targets were coming to harm? The threat assessment module has that answer to hand, having only recently worked through the logic while splitting itself between database target and active threat analysis. “Target and non-target databases lacked sufficient data points for accurate target, non-target assessment.” 19 says, ever motionless, despite the growing droplets of lubrication dripping down his chest plating. “What?” the creator demands. Ah, primary cognition had anticipated this query. “Target database listed designation Son Goku.” 19 says, pointing at target Son Goku, “Additional targets and non-targets have been populated and assessed.” it continues, almost proud of itself, indicating the rest of the designation Z-Fighters, then the bodies on the ground. “Logically, I can no longer follow your commands, Dr Gero.” The threat assessment subsystem takes several thousand of the precious milliseconds available to separate, analyse and recompile the stream of incoming data from the creator’s dynamic facial structure. Plenty of time for NeurCog_core.1.1.4.IA_LoR_Flappe Order 3.2 to bring the tactical subsystem forward for action. Preservation of self to facilitate NeurCog_core.1.1.4.IA_LoR_Flappe Order 1 _Finally!_ The tactical subsystem pings and 19’s body moves.

@@Mozaid The core premise there is certainly different from the numerous *What If: Gohan Liked Fighting* or *Kept Training After Whatever* ones that exist, but there's one small issue. When Gohan was afraid of fighting, he was between the ages of 4 and 6? I won't count the battle against Cell because he stepped up, after all, _knowing_ he couldn't win. He wasn't afraid of the actual fight. I honestly can't see a ~5 year old kid being anything but terrified of the stuff that happened in the series. Maybe my own kids are colouring my perception, but they're afraid of chicken in their dinner. Maybe if we paused the more dire aspects of the timeline for say 5 years, he'd not be reasonably scared to death of fighting. BUt that brings a whole host of other issues.

What if goku didn’t marie chichi

@@Mozaid So we'll assuming everything up to when he agrees to marry Chi-Chi still happens. If Goku never married her then is he a bachelor at the start of Z or has he married someone else? If he married someone else and still somehow had Gohan in the same time span then depending on how badly the female characters are written, nothing changes. But that would be tough as Chi-Chi was motivated to marry him. Goku didn't care about that. Like, at all. So if you take Gohan out of the equation entirely, Raditz would probably just straight up abduct Goku to rejoin Vegeta. The Z-fighters then wish him back to Earth with the Dragon Balls. Vegeta and co probably would have threatened Goku with Earth's destruction, if he didn't cooperate so one or more are coming anyway. Hopefully Kami and/or King Kai come to the rescue somehow. Then the androids appear that much closer to their eventual return from Namek (cuz that all happened roughly as normal) and then it goes from bad to worse. Heart Virus kills Goku anyway, there's still no Gohan, probably no Trunks since Geets & Bulma haven't sailed yet so assuming Bulma even survives, when would she go back to?

What chi chi was the world champ instead of Mr Satan

What If: Chi-Chi Competed in the 24th World Martial Arts Tournament. In the -original- -Alternate- Future Trunks timeline, Goku would be dead by the time the 24th tournament rolled around Chi-Chi might just be struggling for money, so she womans up and signs up for the Tournament. Gohan accompanies her and while he has no interest in fighting, it's what his late dad loved so he gives it a go. Gohan easily beats Videl and Chi-Chi one-punch-woman's Hercule. Videl likes this and decides to follow the boy that so casually wrecked her. She sees him fly off, carrying his mother. and both sets of prize money. Videl is intrigued! Le cybernetic Poop hit the organic fan. Trunks is still there being trained. Somehow work Videl into it? She trains too? Gohan still dies, cuz Androids are stronk! Trunks goes back in time on schedule. Does grown up Videl wanna go to? Pan would be too young. In the main timeline, Chi-Chi sees a news article on the upcoming 24th tournament and since they've been doing all that damned training, why not test themselves just prior to the Androids showing up by taking part in the tournament? They could use the money. Goku's alive and kicking so signs up. Vegeta hears and is all HELL YES! Gohan wrecks Videl, again. Spopovich gets Herculed by Goku. Hercule gets Herculed by Vegeta. Vegeta vs Goku in the finals. Vegeta has a surprise! Super Saiyan Goku vs Vegeta goes down. Goku in struggling! Vegeta thinks it's cuz he's so strong. Nah, it's the Heart Virus! Vegeta contracts a severe case of blue balls and flies off, having zero interest in the prize money. He's married to Bulma after all, why would he care about money. Just donate it to needy kids or something. Vegeta is the World Martial Arts Champion and sooo damned generous and humble, he's just giving away the prize money! The crowd goes WILD! The Android show up a few days later.

@@KaizanBall I love the idea but I want her to win the tournament after. The one Goku and piccolo fight the first time. I don't know if would be the 24 tournament. But she would be the world champ up to the Majin Buu saga. If if Chi chi learn Ki or If Chi chi is just strongest human with learning Ki change how Gohan grows up to the dragon Ball z saga and the world in way if chi chi opens up a dojo or is she only shows up at the tournament and wins and then leaves so they just call her the world champ. Chi chi open up a dojo or not and she goes Bulma and Gohan and krillin. See creature ship or after the namek saga that happened originally the same. At the beginning of our future trunk saga that's another time for them to check out freezer ship. Where the hell in Chambersburg would change the story. But I love your story and what you said this was just what couple little theories of how I was thinking the story would go. P.S don't want her to become a z fighter just be the world champ pick up a few fighting skills from being around a z fighters Goku and Gohan.

@@jehovahrastafai5135 It's a bit of a balancing act between how she could possibly win one vs the other events that can happen. Also what timeline to start in. The future timeline allows for Future Pan shenanigans. As you said, I wouldn't try to make her a Z-fighter. She just needed, or at least thought she needed the money. If I rejig the main timeline's 24th so Chi-Chi and Hercule, and then Geets and Goku face off in the Semi-finals, Vegeta would just leave after Goku collapses from the Heart Virus and Chi-Chi would be that champ by forfeiture. Though she's a bit distracted by her husband being bed ridden. This then means that Goku is back in action for the Androids and well... that might not be good because Vegeta shows up pining for a rematch. The 25th Tournament would be a bit up in the air until I work through the fallout from the Android and Cell Sagas. There are certainly plenty of places to go with this though, even if it's a bad ending.

After the end of original dragon Ball. we don't know if that was before dragon Ball z or during the Android saga. All we know is around the Android N Buu saga Mr Hercule is world champ in world hero because everybody think he can Cell. I'm assuming it happened before the Android soccer so I wanted Chi-Chi to become world champ like she accidentally found out about the tournament. The the fighters didn't know the Martial arts tournament started up again to the Majin Buu. I want chi chi go an Goku got married. she still want to go on to be Gohan study and train a little like she did as a Kid but she would keep up on her trained to. Maybe she learns Ki from Goku trying to teach her and Gohan or maybe she doesn't and she's just as strong as human without Ki. You got to remember Master roshi no ki but can't fly cuz he can do the Kamehameha and how since Ki
