People forget about villo cuz he isn’t as high up on the all time wins list but that guy had mental toughness that none of us can understand came back from a Leg injury that should’ve retired him and one every single championship he completed after that. The dude was gnarly straight up. He had all the boxes checked his raw speed was gnarly, his fitness was almost not human, and his mental toughness was something that only Cooper Webb comes close too. He was the baddest dude to ever do it in my opinion

People seem to forget or just not mention that RV was one of the best on an mx bike. Almost untouchable throughout season without injury. Supercross, had a tough rookie season like expected in 06, then 1st in 07, only Canard taking him out stopped him winning in 08. Rookie 450 season was tough again in 09, 2010 battling for title and crashed huge to then come back and win 4 championships in a row. Motocross he was unbeatable over 12 rounds. 3 titles in a row from 06-08. Won his first races on the 450, then got injured. 2011 and 2013 wins titles. Plus winning Monster Cups and the Des Nations. Those rides in 07 haven't been repeated yet. Over a minute ahead on a 250 at like 16/17yrs old. Doesn't get the recognition he deserves I don't think. Probably only Ricky's record is better. But winning 5 out of 8 Supercross titles and 5 out of 5 in Motorcross says it all...

I seen every race that JM raced in,,, including when he raced on the peak antifreeze 125 Honda’s…he was Bad Ass,,,But,,,But he really didn’t have that much competition,,,if you think about it,,,it was perfect timing,, he came in to the AMA when there wasn’t too many fast other riders and dominated,,,as soon as Ricky showed up,,,it was over for JM…I was at the Race at Anaheim when on lap 4 or 5 of the Main and RC Passed JM mid air over the Triples,,Looked over at JM and said I’m the new Kid in Town and went on to win that race and Main,,,JM was never the same,,,I remembered JM started getting Major arm pump at every race after that and never was a real contender for Ricky Carmichael again,,, but yeah JM was the King of SX with 7 # 1 plates,,, RC has 16 #1 plates,,,and his known as the GAOT,,,
@tankeater Жыл бұрын
@@davidb7699 yah, RC is the GOAT... Easy statement to make 99.9% of AMA fans will say!!! But... I didn't state ANYTHING about RC. Was giving a fact most people don't know about, comparing him towards RV... You know, the dude the video's about. You know, when they said RV is definitely towards the top. RC4 and JS7 are clearly better and they didn't mention, anybody else... THAT'S what I was talking about 🤦♂️!!!... JM didn't have any comp? Funny you say that, because someone else was dominating in the 90s, in a different sport. Never went to a game 7 in the finals. Never got tested. Never lost 3 games in a row for over 9 years... I'm not comparing JM to MJ, I'm just simply saying... MJ technically never had to battle with ANYBODY once the 90s started. Does that make him less great?

For me there is no one as good as Villopoto. He got to beat JS7 on his prime, CR22 on his prime and RD5 on his prime. Carmichael himself said that he would be terrified to race against him. There is not a single championship he finished without being champion. JS7 was supposed to brake RC4 records but couldnt even get close thanks to Villopoto who years later of winning decided he got nothing else to proof and just called it a carreer at age 26 or 27, extremely early.
@lez259 Жыл бұрын
Spot on with that take, but recency bias kicks in and you think of Tomac who is still climbing the ranks as we speak. But put RC, Tomac, JS259 and Villopoto as the 4 fastest indoor + outdoor riders. Reed, Webb,Dungey and Roczen seem to be a tad short of the other guys. But yes Villopoto is massively underated. Shout out to kdub as well

I read an interview with Roger DeCoster about 40 years ago and he stated that you have 20 years of being fast and then you are done. The GP riders used to race competitively at the World level until their mid 30s and some until their late 30s. I'm wondering if that is why riders are retiring at 25. They are burned out and done. John Dowd didn't start until years later than most and he qualified for the Southwick National at I believe 39 years old and got a fifth place. Wondering again, what if you learned to ride a motorcycle at 3 or 4 or 5 but only went trail riding and tried your first race at say 16 years old. That 20 year window would be from 17 to 37. You would be stronger and have more decision-making maturity at those ages.

Marriage needs to be 100/100, two people doing a half ass job isn’t going to cut it, same goes for any team effort. Rider giving 100 while team gives 60 equals tomac going to Yamaha

To be fair, you shouldn't fix what isn't broken. Tomac switched from Kawi because he didn't have control over the bike and it was causing him problems. Coop should stay with KTM because other than the new bike issues he had last year, that bike has been extremely good to him. I don't see what switching to Yamaha is going to do better for him, just because Tomac has switched and is doing alright. The fact that everyone outside of Tomac haven't really been great on their 450 since 2020 outdoors, I wouldn't jump the gun.

I mean RV can’t really look at Eli and his team switch and apply it to himself. RV left the sport at the top of the game, there was 0 reason to switch teams cause he was the one winning the titles and races. Eli was not the one winning the titles and races when he switched to Yamaha. Eli did not win the 2020 motocross championship, he did not win the 2021 supercross championship, and he did not win the 2021 motocross championship. Eli switched to Yamaha to save his career.
