This actually makes a lot of sense. The biggest reason Walt Jr. Hated Walt so much was because he thought that he'd killed Hank. So if he didn't, Jr. Probably wouldn't like him but he'd be alot more sympathetic.

To be fair. Yeah Walt was maxed out on luck Stat as well as iq. but Saul giving him a way to meet Gus was the only reason Walt didn't get axed by the twins, why Walt was able to destroy 2 cars, why the gambling story worked, and so on. I think the reason the show ended the way it did was because felina wasn't a happy ending it's satisfying. Like walt dies his family hates him to the world he is the villain which is true to a very very large extent he is a monster But vince is aware he is the villain Vince beleives walt needs no happiness and doesn't deserve it and I think this would have been a great ending it is also kind of an expected ending in a way like sure he gets punished but walt dies knowing he is still respected and still loved. Like I said tho it would be a good ending. But this is also a fan boy here so

One issue with this, Skyler likely gets locked up in this scenario. The main reason she wasn't prosecuted in Ozymandias was Walt's call where he threatened and berated her to make the feds believe she was an innocent victim browbeaten into silence, with only her (known kleptomaniac and distraught over her husband's death, so unlikely to be believed) sister Marie knowing the truth. With Hank being around to testify that Skyler was an accomplice in obstructing justice and laundering Walt's money, she probably goes down as well. Walt Jr and Holly could possibly be remanded into Hank and Marie's care after this, so it doesn't change the events of the video too much, but it might lead to Walt finally realizing just how wrong his actions were. His list of victims is no longer just criminals or faceless names, but one of the people he loves more than anyone, and someone who he got started down this whole journey to provide for. He may well fall into suicidal thoughts and possibly even act on them, although I might be biased on that because I like the idea that, despite the cancer and his failing health being the driving force behind so many of Walt's actions, it never actually kills him.
@rhysm.5915
@rhysm.5915 Жыл бұрын
IMO Skyler would have come around to being a cooperating witness and probably wouldn't do time or at the very most get a suspended sentence/time served. Then again, the show's logic often doesn't make sense, so who knows.
@backtoklondike
@backtoklondike Жыл бұрын
@@rhysm.5915 But even if Skylar was cooperative and didn't get time, I'm certain she would've lost custody to Holly and Flynn and knowing Marie, she'd file a restraining order against her and would've convinced Flynn to keep that order after he was off age. Only reason Marie and Skylar were still speaking to each other in the finale was because she thought Walt abused Skylar and forced her to do his bidding. But with Hank still being alive, Walt wouldn't be able to use the lie and therefore, Marie would hate Skylar and would want to protect her nephew and niece.

@@backtoklondike The American court system is very lenient on women. For a woman to lose custody, there has to be glaring evidence that a.) the children have been endangered/mistreated, and b.) it was her fault. While I appreciate the creativity of what ifs. I have watched the show a number of times and this is the least likely thing walt of S5 would do Firstly the money wasn't hidden in such a way some dumb posse would find it. Secondly as soon as walt enters prison the prisoners do not see him as some timid dying former school teacher. They see a fearsome drug kingpin called Heisenberg. They remember the 2 minute murders everyone respects and fears this man more than anything and that pushes Walt to a bigger point. He had no enemies at this point in prison he rules the jail with his status. He starts making makeshift drugs and starts earning prison money amassing a five start treatment and a local prison army ready to charge at anyone and anything. Eventually this pushes the Heisenberg persona to go even darker as he starts the hunt of Jesse Pinkman and possibly even Hank after he feels he left him to rot. Walt still had too much power. More than ever tbh he has an entire prison on his fingertips, Jack's gang still respects him He can leak the fake confession too. Going to jail would be more of a vacation for him than anything If that happened season 6 would be a civil war between Pinkman, Hank and Heisenberg. Walt could potentially escape, team up with Saul under the allias of gene. Deliver the millions to his family, murder Pinkman. Maybe hank dies in the crossfire and Walt with him by his own bullet maybe he changes his mind and Pinkman escapes from Prison and El Camino begins.

The only problem with this is Jack still getting the money. The only reason they were able to arrest Walt in the first place was because he led them to the money, so they wouldn't just leave it there for Jack to dig up. Yes he did call Marie to kinda boast, but it was more to give her peace of mind and to inform Skylar. He should have called the dea immediately to send for backup and a forensic team to dig up the money, and then wait for them to arrive.

Hank didn't know EXACTLY where the money was, as he mentions to Walt asking for the coordinates "Would save us some time... alright then, we'll find it either way". But Jack and his crew getting it immediately if they decided to dig at the coordinates would get the money before the DEA could arrive. I still doubt Jack's gang would dig it up in the first place, as they had no indication there was any money there apart from some oddly specific coordinates, which could be anything.

A few inconsistencies I like to point out: 1. Jack finding Walt money is nonsense. Like come on, the reason why Jack found out was because Walt told him. 2. Walt family not getting the money. Walt can literally tell Saul to give his family the money. Of which I can explain how it will go. Walt would obviously create a plan to tell Saul to give his family his money. That or he can go to court and create a deal. A deal of which could give money to Walt and he can send it to his family. Like he is the one who killed Gus, exposed the cartel, and did what the government couldn’t do.

I still prefer the show’s actual ending. But what I love about this alternative is that it hits home the differences between Walt and Hank’s versions of manhood and how that affects Walt Jr. I’ve always thought the central idea of Breaking Bad was that Walt wanted to be like Hank, the tough guy figure Walt Jr. looked up to. Walt is incapable of being a stronger man for his family because he cannot lay his self interests aside; his conceptions of toughness and sacrifice are distorted.

Not really, he’d lose his job if Skylar went to the police because it’d show a level of incompetence, potentially show he was putting Walts actions under the rug since it’d be a good argument in universe that he knew or hell maybe that he was involved merely off his affiliation with Walt. The two latter possibilities being the most important and they’d want to be cautious. It’s way different if Hank himself was the one who arrests Walt, since it’d affirm his loyalty to the DEA. This isn’t even mentioning the other shit he’d provide to the police, such as Saul’s involvement and him reclaiming 80,000,000 drug money which would make it even less likely he was doing something nefarious. So it’d just not happen.

The funny thing is, even though Hank dying saved him from prison, Hank dying really is the worst thing that happened to him. It was the straw that broke the camels back. It was the lynchpin for Skylar finally standing up to him, Walter Jr. still blames his dad for Hank's death, and then there's Hank, even though the 2 had their differences, Hank really was Walt's best friend in the end, and now he's dead. Walt died with no one, all because Hank got caught in the crossfire of Walt's 'empire'. But in the end, Walt was always putting his loved ones at risk through his actions, especially Hank. If we add up his prior arrests and apply it to the basic sentencing matrix(which is use throughout the whole US Jesse would be looking at 9-18 years, not including his cooperation with the government, I would say he’d be looking at 5-10, or 6-12. 1:45 I have to disagree, Walter was not satisfied he provided for his family. Sure that was an element of what he did near the end of his life to attempt to make good of it, but in the final episode he admits to Skylar that he did everything he did for himself. For his pride. He was never actually doing anything for his family he was doing it for his own sick satisfaction, his own personal power fantasy come to life. Other than that I do enjoy the speculative writing here, and I thoroughly enjoyed the video.

Walter Jr. would eventually get suspicious of why he hasn't seen his aunt and uncle in a while and why his parents try to avoid talking about them. Walt and Skylar would probably just keep making excuses until Walt dies from his cancer. After Walt dies, Skylar would probably try to make amends with Marie, but Marie would insist in order to do that she needs to come clean. After doing so, that's up for debate what Skylar will do. As for Jesse, he's safe and sound in Alaska living his new life, and Andrea and Brock are alive and well. Saul would continue being a criminal lawyer, and Jack and Lydia would have Todd continue trying to cook at his full potential. Hank would get wind of the meth operation and continue his search

This was a great video, and I'd say it was quite accurate thematically. I loved the 11% Saul comment, as it tied back to his Season 6 speech. I've had another 'what-if' idea being if Tuco successfully kidnapped Walt and Jesse and brought them over the border to become the Cartel's Meth Cooks. I'd imagine we'd see a lot of characters return in round-about ways, such as Gus potentially commandeering Walt and Jesse after killing the cartel to use them as his own cooks, seeing a much more different introduction and interaction between the two parties. Through due to how early this divergence happened it could be difficult to smooth out some details. Just an idea.

I really don’t think Saul would’ve immediately been in any legal danger if Hank and Gomez were still alive/not missing. Eventually, the case might’ve been made against him but quickly getting a defense attorney arrested on white-collar crimes on Jesse’s word alone is unlikely. The two missing feds was the major problem for almost everyone. Even Walt likely could’ve been granted bail, especially with his well-planned story that Hank was “the mastermind.”
@tbow13gbr22
@tbow13gbr22 Жыл бұрын
A defense attorney of Saul’s caliber could also arguably get Jesse’s testimony rendered inadmissible given Jesse and Hank’s history. There’s an argument to be made that he was pressured/intimidated into making that video. Had Walt not gotten the Nazis involved and indirectly gotten Hank and Gomey killed, Saul very possibly walks away from the entire situation Scott-free and possibly negotiated Walt’s sentence down to far less than we know he deserved.

I love this exploration, however the court proceedings would have to have taken a lot longer from cuffs to courtroom, Better Call Saul pretty well demonstrates it with the Sandpiper case needing to take 5 years to settle in spite of how open and shut it seems. Maybe less 5 years and moreso a couple days for Walt to go to trial. Perhaps that's when his Granite State character arc happens, maybe the case goes on longer than he's willing to fight for, and maybe Walt has his moment as you describe it. His "I did it for me." speech.

The thing is that Walt is the main character so giving him a 100% sad ending feels like a stab in the back. Bad man or not, this ending makes it feel like the entire show was for nothing. Walter, by the end of the show, has proven himself a man. He provided for his family. The whole show was about him making money for them so ending the show with him not managing that is anti-idealistic to the show's goal. If Vince took your route of letting Walt being sent to prison he would've thought of a way to make sure Walt's family gets the money. Maybe Jack and his crew went MIA with Walt's earnings and Walt (in prison) makes a deal with Hank (or any other authority entity). He'll bomb on Jack and in exchange Walt's family will get some of the money they hold. Illegal, I know, but the police are making many illegal deals with criminals to juice out info from them. Hank rejects at first and points at Walt being the ego man he is, but Walt says that the whole ego thing was about being a man doing things his way. Providing for his family is something he does because he genuinely cares for them. Walt asks Hank "Are you a man"? Hank says "F*ck off". Walt says "In no time there will be reprocutions for my identity. My family will lose their house, no one will hire them for jobs. Think about Skyler... Think about Marie". Hank silences for a second. Walt says: "If you are a man, you will provide for your family". It's cool because Walt turns the whole "be a man" tantrum Hank threw at him several times back at him. Hank, fed up by the whole Heisenberg shindig, is now relieved and no longer driven by hatred. He thinks rationally and realises that no one's gonna touch that money, nor do the people murdered/involved in this saga will come back. He gets to catch criminals and make sure Skyler and her kids get some financial insurance. So he accepts Walt's offer. Walt reveals Jack and his crew's location and actions, they get caught, Skyler gets a barrel full of cash (11M$), because Walt insisted on them getting the money he earned, and not the government's. Than Walt can die happy.

@@roiitzkovich4545 I disagree, the main point of the series was not Walter White's objectives, it was his gradual reaction change from Walter White to Heisenberg and at least I did not root for that objective that much, as I didn't find reasonable, I rooted more for Heisenberg due to I thinking that the other villains from the series were worse people, until Heisenberg became the worst one, the moment which I rooted for his arrest, to be satisfacted by the conclusion of Hank's arch
@roiitzkovich4545
@roiitzkovich4545 Жыл бұрын
@@xaropevic7918 But where is the payoff? You arrest Walt, his family moves elsewhere and he dies thinking about him being rich? What do you accomplish with that ending? Vince confirmed that Hank was killed because that's what he deserved for his misguided reasoning to arrest Walt. Though he said he wanted to arrest Walt for his kingpin career, deep inside he mostly felt personally betrayed by him after everything he caused for the family. He essentially wanted to get revenge on Walt. The whole point in that is Hank realizing Walt ain't AS bad as he thought at first. Remember Walt willing to give Jack all the 80M$ he had made, just to let Hank live? Hank, who thought Walt is driven by ego alone, realized that he DOES care for his family more than anything. That's why, when he said the "You're the smartest guy I ever met. And yet you're too stupid to see... he made up his mind 10 minutes ago" he was not angry at Walt anymore. He kinda left him with a pseudo peace. He was still angry at him, but somewhat forgave him. Vince, up until that point in the story, didn't write Walt to be arrested by the end. He was building up to Hank dying and Walt being rejected by his family. All the pieces were planted for Ozymandias to play out the way it does. If you get rid of Hank's death, the best you can do is making sure Walt's family is financially secured.

In the popular story of Romeo and Juliet, both tragically d1e. Does that mean their story was for nothing? In the intended trilogy of saw 1-3, every major character besides Jeff, d1es. Nobody comes on top, nobody wins, nobody learns anything. Does that mean that story was for nothing? No. It was meant to show John is insane and his methods do not work. If every one survived, learnt and went for ice cream after that it would feel like a scam and would just be cheesy.

Considering Saul was able to reduce his own sentence down to 7 years, I'm sure he'd do the same for Walter, or possibly even get a jury plea of not guilty for Walter.
