def cope when the only thing that frutiger aero is known for is just the warm grassy backgrounds and cool environments- when done wrong it can look terrible, thats even why Apple abandoned the aqua design system(were arguably the first to implement such a glossy interface) because people kept on shoehorning the aesthetic where it shouldn't be and quite poorly for that matter. The whole oversimplification hate is just contrarians trying to cover up their inability to move on from this aesthetic. not to hate on your shit but dawg, at least explain more than that

​@@fusionid6647about flat design, i don't find it ugly, but surely less inspired, especially considering the recent trend of removing colors and oversimplifying shapes that are already simple, which most of the companies are following. The result is that most of the designs (logos, uis, and stuff) look kinda "soulless" and unemotional to me. Furthermore, nowadays most of the logos look very similar to each other, as well as the fonts used by the brands. I'm not a contrarian, i don't find flat aesthetics bad. A few examples i like are Windows Phone UI or iOS 7, which can be considered as the start of the whole thing, but now it's been a while since these have been released, someone should start finding new solutions. Apparently the market ain't ready yet. Forgive me cause of my english btw

You see, I must to admit it nostalgia plays a big role in that too, but is also the fact that icons where looking so much more detailed and so futuristic comparative to the minimalist one, like they were giving hope for a future where technology and nature can coexist. They also are looking more aesthetically pleasing, with bright colors and contrast. While I prefer the frutiger aero over minimalist design everytime, I personally think there's a place for minimalist design too to complement the frutiger aero design and I think with the right direction, we can combine these aesthetics and made them more complimentary with each other. I know there was some minimalist icons in win 7 too which actually complement the aero aesthetic while windows 10 does the opposite, the design doesn't look too very aesthetic and these flat icons doesn't blend with the interface too well. In short, people are tired of corporations putting little no effort in their logo and all of these os that have these flat and minimalist icons and design, but I think we can blend both of the styles and made them complementary to each others.

IMHO Apple's MacOS icons are the closest things we still have to frutiger aero icons. While they aren't really glossy or anything, they're still 3D and some even have shadows, unlike say Windows, Androids, iPhones, etc...

0:35 well actually that was not the only reason part of the reason was because it was literally just to show off advancements in computer graphics since making all this transparent smooth high polygon art is harder than you think. and really a lot of the aesthetics from between 1975 to 2010 was about showing off technology .even the really old styles from the 80s was based on low poly computer graphics even if they were actually hand drawn. and Frutiger aero was the final form of this until the modern wave of minimalism .

yeah, bryce 3d as a software (which made by Ken, Eric, and with the UI designed by KaI) was very primitive when it came to modeling, and also it was made in the 90s and was kept alive til late 2010

I like the idea but design moves on, and most people loved the bright colours and the glossiness over everything else. I often incorporate those elements with heavy focus on readability and UX friendliness, if its not easy on the eye its worthless, you have to immediately see what it is, bright colours help with this, glossy design can achieve softness alongside blur in background elements can remove a lot of that flatness. Most people really like Windows Vista aesthetic for that

I'd love if Frutiger Aero was still a thing. I even use Frutiger Aero rices for my Linux desktop. However, I was a teenager when this aesthetic was nosediving and I remember how stale it was getting. I even remember the Windows 9x type aesthetic getting stale. The current oversimplified aesthetic is getting stale so I think we'll get something new soon.

Bro you are KILLING me for not using quick select brush and then selecting and masking to get rid of the background properly! Try doing that next time, there will be no need for those erasures. If you DO need to erase something with an eraser, PLEASE use a mask on your picture. This will allow you to be able to return erased details by using black and white colors, white being the erasing, black being the returning.

Cool work but I think you’ve overused water as a theme in icons. The thing is icons have to fit the rest, there would most likely be a water themed wallpaper and other UI elements that mixed with similar icons could be too much. I’d rather stick to simple glossy skeumorphic icons, let’s say something like Windows XP style.

Definitely love/prefer the minimalist and gradient aesthetic of today. Frutiger Aero is a term I just learned this year, but I remember it well and always thought of it as “just a look” to appear advanced or to embrace that the future had arrived. I supposed Frutiger Aero was the counter to the trend of beige electronics and faux wood paneling on electronics snd vehicles from late 20th century days.
