It's normally impossible to die in that fight, which is interesting; but also that fight pre-dates you meeting flowey so you'd have no SAVE point to return to yet, and him talking on the game-over screen wouldn't really make sense either...

You don't even need file editing to do this. If you retreat to the SAVE point before the acid puzzle (like I did before seeing for myself what drinking the acid did), you still get encounters in that room. I figured "why not" and checked to see what would happen if I used the acid in battle. Laughter ensued. Didn't even ask me to confirm.
